Sounds like the sensors may have been it. Glad that worked out. Just listing the requirements just in case for the 3 ships. Missile Boat - Tiny hull, Stinger II, Sensors, Basic Support I have seen the missle boat before, but not in most games. Sniper - Tiny hull, Railgun MK III, Sensors, Basic Support Again, I've seen it but not every game. I do have a theory: It seems there are 3 "starting" ships

For those missing core ships...have you researched "Sensors"? Using the Galactopedia I noticed that most of the core ships all require sensors. In my current game I only had the Star Fury (was up to Plasma I and Harpoon missles). But I never researched that lowly tech sensors. So I researched it (took me just 2 turns). Immediately about half a dozen core ships showed up including the Phoenix, Corvette and Cruiser. So check that you've r
That's kind of the whole point of the ship design system, for them to show up in your future games. If you play the same race and base hull design (human, yor, etc) then your ships are saved from game to game. I guess if you don't want them to show up again you can delete them in game at anytime (or obsolete them so they are removed from your current game but will appear in your next one).
I'll still lobby for an option to *not* wipe out all ship components on an upgrade. I really just want to swap out an engine for a better one, not rebuild the whole ship.
I wonder how the No Tech Trade option will affect the balance of the the different races. Seems to me that right now tech trading is a big part of the computer's strategy or at least they all use it a lot. There should definitely be a lot of testing to make sure that disabling that aspect of the computer's strategy won't unbalanc
Definately not a bug. Being Neutral means that all squares become immediately available and don't need soil enhancement, habitat improvement and so forth. You need to build more farms for more pop over 5 bil, no matter what PQ you have. EDIT: Oops, someone beat me to it.
Why don't you post your debug.err file from your last crash?
You could always take it as a challange to bust your way out of the crowded section and overcome the 2 power houses. I'm looking for a challange, not a easy time at it. But that's just me.
Not a bug, it's an event. I had that happen to the Torians one game and I had to fight all those ships. Luckily I was already at war with them and had ships in the area or I would have been in trouble. I took heavy losses as it was.
I've been thinking hard about moving to the east side of the great state of Michigan myself... They aren't actually in Detroit but in the way western burbs. More toward Ann Arbor and the middle of the state. #1 best thing about Michigan? Red Wings baby!!! Let's go Red Wings!! #2 you take many vacations in the state you live in. My wife grew up in New Jersey and just about eve
Society and Political Machine 2008 I believe are the next big game projects mentioned. Keep in mind that the majority of Stardock (so far) is in non-game software. Also note that they have used this non DRM distribution model for years include the original Gal Civ a few years ago.
All I can say is if you don't see the value of a military starbase then you really haven't used it properly. Giving a +3 or more to each defensive category along with multiple + to offensive categories isn't anything to sneeze about. thing is if youve run out of ships to support it - the starbases are sitting ducks -
min reg. 256mb ram recommened reg. 512mb. For a computer running Windows XP you want 512 mb memory *minimum*. 256 will not really be enough, the computer will have issues just running windows let alone with games. 512 minimum 1 gb is standard nowadays. I have 1 gig and just
Yes, research up the Planetary invasion tree and get "Advanced Troop Modules" Then design new transports. I personaly design 3 transport type ships: 1) Regular transport but with engines. I'll usually design this after Impulse engine III. Standard 1000 troops. Very useful even later in the game to take over a planet that doesn't have a lot of pop. 2) "Invader" class will have advanced troop modules totaling 3000 troop
That video card won't cut it. It is just wayyyyy to old and doesn't support DirectX 9 (and probably not even 7). The latest Nvidia drivers don't support the Vanta and even the latest, greatest video cards need the updated drivers. Sorry. On the bright side you can get a very good Nvidia or ATI for under $100 these days. HD space is about 1.5 gigs I believe. More for saved games and if you install any mods and such. If you hav
Yes, turning off tech trading will be optional. Many people like myself will never use this option but it's there for those that complained about tech. Good option for them.
Please restore option in the ship builder to not wipe out all components on upgrade.
Post your debug.err file, it will tell a lot. And I'm assuming you have the lastest GC2 patch as well as the latest video drivers for your video card?
Is it such an onerous task to get up, go to your computer and swap out a disc? I mean really, we're not talking about running a marathon here. And if you can't find the disc... what do you do when you can't find that steak knife? Or some other physical object you lost. In general it's just a pain. Bu
Frogboy posted yesterday that once all the fuss from being dugg and slashdotted calms down they'll post what they are planning/thinking about for future patches. Servers go "ouch" when slashdotted and dugg at the same time!
Sure do. If you are willing to move to Michigan we need more support people! Already do. About 100 miles down I-94 in Kalamazoo however. Kalamazoo is where I-94 turns into fun (or so they say on the billboards).
Once again, nice job guys. You have any jobs for support people?
You've been Dugg! It's like the new "being slashdotted". I doubt this will make the diggnation podcast but it's good in one thing: GalCiv 2 just got in front of thousands of people who will have never heard of the game otherwise. Interesting how starforce may end up helping sell more copies of the game.
playing with 2-3 other intellegent civs, and not really having any problems winning Up the difficulty. There are several higher difficulty levels above intellegent.
All I am saying is that unlike other resources, if you drop a fleet on a fully developed military resource it CAN'T be taken out Dano Same goes for any starbase. For any starbase, especially resource ones, that are on borders or could be attacked I'll upgarde to at least level 1 battlestations, a couple +5 defenses (depending on wh
