I honestly haven't been playing that much GC2 lately. Now with the fall TV season upon us and more importantly football season I won't be up for playing much games at all until after Christmas anyway. Being your audience for GC2 I think trends older then the teenies who get the lastest X-Box game for X-mas I think there is no problem at all waiting until after the holidays. Look at Obvlivion. Released in March and sold millions. Yourself with GC2 did very well after the holidays. I

Probably have a bad DirectX installation or outdated video drivers. Download that from Microsoft and reinstall and get the latest video drivers and install those.

Very often you also need a certain level of sensors or life support. Or miniaturization. Check in the tech tree. Find the listing for missle boat and it will tell you all that is needed. Also FYI that you can design your own ship that will be much better then teh missle boat.

I have seen city lights on my planets since at least 1.2. Haven't had an issue since. They even show up in the battle screen when a planet it attacked.

Might want to follow the warning you got to update your drivers. I see you have a Radeon 9200. The ATI drivers get updated just about once a month. Get the latest at www.ati.com and you should be all set.

RE: Custom ships. Yes, they are available in future games (assuming you play the same race) and even show up in the tech tree. It was nice when I took a month or so break to play Oblivion and I started playing GC2 again and my custom ships were all still there waiting for me to discover the correct techs.

Sounds like a home system for another race. Every home system has a class 10 (or higher) and a class 3/4. Which means it's owned by someone else, perhaps a minor. Click on the planet and see what the details are at the bottom of the screen. What does it say?

Hey Brad, just saw on the Freep today that Google is going to open their world headquarters for AdWords in Ann Arbor and hire 1000 people. At least I hope so for you guys. Maybe Michigan will start getting back on track job wise with s

Yes, they are on the map. You need to create one first. Once you do it's light bluish in color I think but you can't miss it since it's a bouncing arrow pointing to the spot of the rally point. But if that color blends into the background nebula or something I can see it being hard to find for the color blind. I might suggust turning off the background and see if that helps.

The game is extremely static after mid-game, especially if you're in the lead. If you are on top of everything, every race automatically loves you and no one ever attacks. I realise this is a difficult problem inherent t

Just go to to ATI's or Nvidia's website (whatever you have), download the latest drivers and run the install. Nothing more complicated then that. Good luck.

You usually need to run a couple spyware programs. Ad-Aware and Spybot. Between the two they get 99% of what's out there. Oh, stop using Internet Explorer and Outlook and you won't get spyware anymore.

You guys with Vista do understand it's a beta, right? Never use a beta OS as your only machine. I was cringing when I read "didn't want to install XP again". Yikes.

Ouch. Yea, $80 for that card was about right when it was brand new about 3-4 years ago. Sorry you got ripped off. And the MX 4xx line is way old technology as has been posted above so I won't go into it more. Radeon x800 GTO with 256 megs - $99 and this card will even run Oblivion quite nicely. PCI-express though. You can find AGP versions of some highend cards should you need AGP. <br/

No problem buying it here. I've got 6 shiney tokens left on TGN just itching to spend on something (wish there was a Jets and Guns II though, man that game is a blast!) Griffin, I certainly wouldn't be concerned with the timeframe. I mean they are talking 6-8 months after release of the original game. That's actually very quick. Most expansions are typically a year or more after the first game (like Civ 3 and now Civ 4).

By mid game I usually have 6-9 trade routes that alone bring in 500bc plus per turn. Get a few Econ starbases going and it easily goes over 1000bc per turn. Trade funds my military almost every game. I try to get trade early in my research and immediately have homeworld build freighters and only freighters and just send them out. I usually pick who I want to be friendly with over the course of the game and head out that direction. Nothing special or hard to do this. Over time tho

Could any Americans help me out with what "fall" actually means? I remember a game I was waiting for last year was scheduled to come out in the fall. It acually turned out to mean late December. Is that an unusually late definition? Cos to me that's winter! Well according to the calendar no matter where you are on the planet in the Northern he

Some of us DO have social lives with real friends that play. See, I have a great social life and lots of friends. But most of them don't play games. I'm the computer "geek". Those that do play games don't have time (hmmmm...kids, job, yard work....oh...something called a....get this....a *life*). So quit calling people that don't play mul

Random event. One game I got 3 "Lucky Rangers" myself. I chose the luck attribute as well that game. I believe you will be informed of such random events for other races if you know about the planet it happened on. I have seen the random event for covettes happen for the Torians one time. They got 30 of them! Luckily it was later in the game and I was able to wipe them out but man they raided the heck out of my trade routes until I caught them all.

Hmmm, I've never played the campaign and never plan to. Never did in GalCiv 1 either. Try some regular games, the campaign is only a tiny part of GalCiv 2.

Why would you leave the game running for *days*? Just exit the game when done for the day and then relaunch and you should be all set. I'd harbor a guess that just about any program left running for days at a time will start to eat up memory.
