It's really simple: Turn of megaevents and you'll never need to worry about it again.

Congrats! I just saw a bunch of them at Best Buy a couple weeks ago and was surprised. I'm on my last Civ 4 game to finish up my EQM games and I'm about ready to get back into Gal Civ 2 so an update is good news indeed!
Then you're probably not reading the right posts around here. For most of us, simple praise of Impulse won't help any possible transition. We need targeted persuasion, or at least some sympathy along with a specific scoff of one of our complaints. But that doesn't really belong in this thread.
Ummm, ok. Sure. If you want persuasion then how about it's the only way to get patches? [e digicons]:P[/e] <p
Impulse is easy to use. Install, it will autodetect all the games you have and then simply go to the Update tab and update any games that have them. Don't run Impulse again until there is another game update. It can't be any easier. I don't understand why people resist it.
This might get me back into GC2. I havne't played in a long time since I've been full on working on my Civ 4 latter but I just might take a break for a while. Cool deal on the governors. Didn't GC1 have them? It was a feature I always missed.
Been around since Gal Civ 1 release. Under a million anyway.
I think all it will be is the official release of Impulse with at least one if not more major modern games available on it.
Come on guys, the demo will be all over the net in less then a day if you don't want to register at Gamespot. Give it a break. ;)
Well, first the diplomacy in Sins is terrible, and second there are diplomacy models in a number of RTS's. The one that readily comes to mind is Rise of Nations. Anyway, it's simply important for people to know, IMO, that this IS an RTS. It owes a lot to Total Annihilation, a lot to Homeworld, and at best a tiny amount to anything turn based. People that don't enjoy RTS games are going to be disappointed, especially if they come in expecting something with the depth of a turn based game.
A BTW question on Sins Do the space battles require a lot of frenetic clicking? If so I will probably not care for the game. The RTS part is okay but I prefer a game where you set up the right conditions (numbers, weapons, etc) and let the battle play out without having to compete with computer agility in movement, fire and aiming.
You don't have to lift a finger or do a thing in terms of the space battles if you don't want to. The AI will fight the ba
Well, that's a bad sign. A good RTS interface shouldn't take a few games to figure it out. At least not for a veteran of RTS and TBS games.
Well, I'm not an RTS guy at all, they always have confused me. Here is what I mean. The basic UI is very simple. Click the research button to do research. Click the Pirate/Black Market button to do that stuff. Point and click and zoom. All simple. The Empire tree is a bit getting used to, never played a gam
I'm very suspicious about this game after watching the trailer. An RTS without a minimap?!? Zooming as compensation?!? So far I've never seen any RTS where this worked. Unlike GC2, SOSE is playing in a genre with extremely high competition. Games like Companies of Heroes, Dawn of War, C&C3, etc. offer excellent graphics combined with excellent overview at the same time through the mini map. Honestly, if the game can't be played without zooming then y
I wasn't sure about Sins as I don't normally like RTS games. I don't like "click happy" games like that. Civ 4 and Gal Civ 2 are my staple with some Oblivion tossed in to take a break. But Sins just looked too good to pass up so I took a chance and got it. Wow have I not been disappointed. I am blown away how good this game is and how much fun I'm having playing it. It's heart pounding. I'm playing on normal and it's slow enough for me to keep up (you can play it on slow i
In my most recent game, I've generally stuck at around 500bc per turn, but I do have two economic resources with max modules going. My Navy consists currently of about 10 medium very well armed ships, 3 large very well armed ships, and about 20 small very well armed planetary defenders. Essentially I have about the strongest military.
This may be an effect on the lower difficulty level. A navy that size would be quite small in just about any game I've been playing
Could this be intentional? Could the developers perhaps be working under the assumption that running an economy at 100% should be the exception rather than the rule, and almost always result in deficits? It could encourage people to try to remain at peace and collect the "peace dividend", so to speak, while allowing economies to run hot for short periods (if you have money in the bank) to deal with short-term threats.
That may b
I agree, I thought econ and money available was just about perfect in the beta 3 series.
My flagship got stuck on an asteroid and nothing I would do could get it unstuck. Finally had to destroy it so the maintenance wouldn't get me.
So in the release notes it said that due to all the extra money ship maintenance was increased. All I want to know is, where is all this extra money because I'm not seeing it. Trying to build a decent fleet of ships to match the Drengin or Terrans is killing my economy. Just a couple dozen medium size ships and I'm paying over 500 bc! One large hulled ship is over 40 bc alone. Ouch. Luckily I'm playing the Korx and the Mercenary Academy along with super trade starbases are the only
As I mentioned in another thread: 1) Diplomacy - Unique techs are no longer flagged with * 2) Tech tree and tech details via right click - Unique tech no longer have a racial logo 3) Minors seem to be able to research any unique tech, mostly Arcean noticed (Weather Control for example) 4) Previously untradable techs can now be traded Probably related to the default tech tree change.
3) Racial logo's missing from the tech tree as well. 4) Minor just build the Innovation Complex. I believe this is a Terran only building? Looks to be most things I'm running into are tech tree related.
Playing the Korx if that matters. New Beta 4. 1) I've noticed that in the diplomacy screen when you click on money it doesn't always pull up a green amount that the AI will accept. About 50-50 so far. A bit annoying but not a game breaker. 2) And this is a biggy. In the diplomacy the indications that a tech is unique tech (the *) is gone and the racial logo when looking at a unique tech by right clicking is also gone. I've also found that races are trading around unique te
Cari posted in the Beta 4 notes that the Altarians and Thalans still need a bit of work.
SWEET! Just downloaded and will play all weekend.
And the fantasy game will probably be pre-ordered immediately if it will be anything like the old Baulder's Gate or Morrowind/Oblivion. The fantasy game's a TBS, not an RPG. And sins has already been in public (preorder) beta for a while now.
Cool, thanks. As for Sins, I'll need
