take wednesday of? So tempting.... For your own sake, do it! (like you would stop playing early to get enough sleep - must...play...one...more...turn... )

The hope to die last??? "Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt" means "Hope dies last".
They were called "Terror Stars" (tm) and no, they aren't in GalCiv 2. They might find their way in an expansion though.
Even three races surrendered to the Drengins in total. Being curious, why was it predictable that the Torians surrendered to the Drengins instead of you, for example? The Yor seemed to surrender to the race closest to them, but the Torians surrendered to their enemies. How's the mechanism working, roughly?
I played the EaW demo and, well, it is - nice. I liked the space battles a lot for the flavour, but the rest seemed a little boring.
Just make a wild mix of the downloaded files and an archived Beta and you'll be able to play... - something. (No, kids: Don't try this at home! )
Thanks for the information, sounds good that the problem is manageable. So it'll be worthwhile to pre-download tomorrow for me and others in the same situation? We'll just have to download a different .exe file later to be able to play?
My version is German. Just tell me if there's anything I can do or try to run on my system, it would be a pleasure to help you. (Last version I had running successfully was 0.81a.015, didn't try after that.) Edit: I may be totally wrong, but perhaps it makes a difference that I'm using SP4? (don't know about your test case) The word "thread" appears a couple of times in the SP4 changelog, especially the first occurence might be interesting. (<a href="http://support.microsoft
I'm sorry to say that, "Lord Doom", but both with format and content your postings remind me of the datatype "byte stream" used in programming languages... I'm sure you could do better.
Actually you can trade ships and starbases in GC1 I believe. I don't know about GC2 since I didn't get the beta, but I would assume that it will stay the same. You can trade ships, but only when you're not at war with the trading partner. When you're at war, they're not listed in the diplomatic dialogue (probably for intelligence reasons). It was sim
Stardock Sales told me by mail that Once Galactic Civilizations II is released, we will likely be making CDs of the game or copies of the retail version available to TotalGaming.net customers for a media and handling charge. This has not yet been announced or arranged. I didn't want to wait and ordered a physical copy on a different
Does it mean I will download the game on Feb 21 and then get a CD That's it. (Be aware that you'll have to pay shipping for the CD, but the "physical" pre-order goodies like a tech-tree poster etc. will be included.)
Don't worry - once we all get our greedy hands on the game , I'm sure the whole episode will be forgotten pretty fast.
I won't be buying GC2 for the flashy (graphics) part, what drives me crazy in advance are these AI reports. Hey, you're not worshipping all that bling enough!
The publisher for Europe is Paradox Interactive, they have a web shop ( Link ) as well and ship from Stockholm, so there shouldn't be a problem with customs. They don't have a direct download option though, so you'll have to wait for the physical shipment. AFAIK all pre-orders will get the same goodies.
We'll probably fix it for the bonus pack. Would be nice, at the moment it's a trade-off between investing a little real-time and lots of mouse-clicks against giving up game money (or IPs).
"All told, however, Galactic Civilizations II should begin effectively killing strategy gamers' minimal social lives on February 21, 2006." Yepp, I liked that one most as well. Seriously, I think the game is doomed to be a hit.
Now I'm confused - is IP accumulated and spent every Dec at the UP, so that in the example above you will have 12,000 at the beginning of Dec and 0 after the meeting That's how it worked in GalCiv I, and I think it's still like that. Basically there are two layers of influence: One is accumulating the values until the next UP meeting (this
I would much prefer to deal with a nova than a damn recession that lasts an interminably long time. I think many real Earth politicians would agree on that one!
GC2 does a fixed payment, rather than having it be over X months. So the good old x bc for y months it totally gone? What a pity, it was such a nice instrument, one I saw nowhere else! I always hoped, hell, was pratically presuming it was only missing in the Beta...
It would be better if there were a "cash me out" button, that showed/offered a remainder that takes the NPC to the edge of green. I second that. It may seem a bit gamey, but putting the excess values of diplomatic trades into cash or sometimes influence points is what I usually do. (Well, at least when the game is close - which I expect it to be. <im
My comment about "years and years of total rebellion" was made in the context that I don't like that part of the Civ4 simulation very much. But Civ4 has issues with the length of its turns anyway - ever moved a tank (without using air deployment)?. Getting a planet to full production in the same week it was conquered (see: GalCiv II) is unrealistic as well, but it allows for a nice game and I concur with it. Comparing GalCiv's system of conquest to anything in reality is far-fetched a
So that the download servers are not overloaded Feb. 21th, maybe you should make the release available a few days early to the beta testers to spread the load. Yes, Feb 2nd sounds like a good date to me. Or how about 02-06-2006? Ir
I think only EA games and some other moderately big companies can adversite on the TV. There were also some funny Diablo 2 ads. If you don't know them, look for them.
1) I believe Yarlen stated that theory wise, there could be as many as 5000 colonizable type planets, so at a minimum that is about 1000 star systems.... I saw that thread as well and made the test on the gigantic map with all settings set to abundant, but I got much less colonizable planets. Theory wise it may be right, in practice it won't occur. (
