Actually Evil doesnt always win... even in real life, neutral wins most of the time although not always and i do agree that there needs to be a section in fiction
Lord Mark
yep i also notice a huge improvement in planetary development! kudos to brad again
personally, i think people are too hard on programmers since they have no idea how complicate a program can be... oh well c'est la vie
A software engineer responds ... All software is full of bugs. Over the years computer software has become more and more sophisticated often involving millions of lines of code. It is a practical impossibility to test every path through the software and eradicate every bug. Here is a little test for you - try writing a one or two page document (any su
i would love to see them too... since i never played galciv 1, im really curious to find out what these things do someone enlighten me please
a easy way to program this would be to have sector based terriotries, and like civilization 4, diplomacy would be the only way to ask if vesals can enter another opponents space, but not start building space stations above there planets, maybe have a 3 mile zone around one's planets that one has to respect or a war will occure automatically, <br/
willie sanderson: i dont think he's bitchin. just stating a point. i have played several games and although i agree with you that each galaxy is different, there also comes a time that you feel that you'll eventually win. and i have seen what his describing way too many times. given im only playing at painful right now, i think that ramping up the difficulty will make things more interesting. i have seen how powerful some AI's could be if left unchecked and as i stated before increasing
well if you cant counter them at this time then i suggest giving them a few star systems to buy you some time to research the needed defence and build the new custom ships. seeing how you control most of the map anyway, you can just reconquer this worlds when you're ready also try tech trading with the arcean, they might have something researched already.
hmmm, ima try good allignment in my games and let you guys know how it goes! never really alligned good. guess because im neutral-evil in rl as well
i agree and wonders are great maybe you just dont know how to use them
probably based on pop and economy when military is 0 or negligible when compared to the two. i remember early game on a huge map i came up the most powerful and when i checked i had the strongest economy and the most planets
it would boost tourism/votes but would have little impact for an influence victory. use influence starbases to flip worlds instead
first the that you need to do is download v1.2 if you havent already. then try increasing your virtual memory to at least 1 gig (i have 2 gigs). also try to kill as many unneccessary background programs before playing. i used to have the same problem and thats what i did. however my turns didnt take that long. worst case was maybe 5 mins on a large galaxy
since v1.2 the AI seem to be building less wonders/achievents... dunno why... brad? (or maybe its just me, bit i usually play on tough above)
like the new look and performance, but it seems like the "Recent Posts" window on the left between "Forum Links" and "Reviews" is only available from the Home page instead of from all pages. Was this omission on purpose? i noticed this too, not really a big deal. GREAT JOB SD! (im becoming a fanboy lol)
may i ask whats the difficulty level of the AI? i mean i haven seen this yet and i sure want the AI to whip me via tech victory
My prefered method is with troop transports assaulting their homeworlds. Typically, after the first one, the rest are not quite as quick to make an alliance. well if your allied you cant attack them
i dont know whats wrong with a tiny ship armed with a doom ray
3) Thalans, Drath AND Terrans all grab a few systems, then stop colonizing, and seem to stop researching, too. I've started calling them the Axis of Speedbumps. nod nod
*gives Grantahl a great big hug*
xtrak... prolly some fat kid with nothing else better to do than flame people who cant hit him back... *sigh* must have been beaten up in highschool... sorry brad, some people are just mad at the world and dont know what they're talking about... watch watch his gonna try to reverse this argument on me and tell me that im the fat kid who got beaten up in highschool.... LOL so predictable oh and btw, if you have been polite about your comments then you would not be
Not only does the AI need to redevelop it's planets if there is a good reason to do so, it needs to do a good job of developing them in the first place. This is the only reason I can win on Masochistic and above. With the bonusses that it gets on the higher levels, if it actually developed planets as well as I do then it would be almost impossible to beat. And that's reall
nice! as soon as this is done ill be more than happy to use it
if you give it to another civ, you get to keep the benefits. i think the same is true on an invasion.
i second that!
