AI beat me via technology

I've seen a lot of posts on this subject, so let me lay it to rest. The AI CAN and WILL pursue and achive a technology victory. I unfortunatly have first hand experience with this.

Bad news. But the good news is that they stop spending money on reserach when they complete the tree and the tech victory is turned off. The way the scores are calculated, you can keep on spending money to do research that will raise your score, even if there is nothing to research.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but surely this isn't such a good thing because then they have more money to spend on things like their military or industry.

I love the technology victory as it completely changes the dynamic of the game. Not only do I have to look at who is getting strong, I am constantly checking to make sure no one is advancing in technology too quickly. If I see them going for the tech victory I take them out.

may i ask whats the difficulty level of the AI? i mean i haven seen this yet and i sure want the AI to whip me via tech victory
