AI Planetary development in 1.3 beta 1.

Huge improvement noticed.

I have just completed a 1.3 beta 1, metaverse game vs the Terrans on suicidal (ultimate AI) and the biggest change I noticed was the AI planetary development by the AI's which has vastly improved.

I completed the game by 22nd Dec in the 2nd yr (only shows as 1 yr in metaverse,   ) and from this very early in the game, the Terrans had close to fully develeoped planets   . What's even more scarey is the Terran AI designed its planets vitually identical to myself     .

An example is PQ 10, colony, 3xfactories, farm then either research or economic buildings. As anyone else noticed this?

All the bonus tiles r being used correctly except food and influence, but the AI is actually employing the correct tactics in this, whats the point in using a food tile for a farm on a PQ 7 world? Better placing a factory/research/eco building there and when at war in a hostile galaxy what use is influence?

I have also been playing a metaverse 1.3 beta 1 game, gigantic, suicidal (ultimate intelligence), Altarians (me) vs Drengin & Yor & Dominion. I am 2 yrs into it and engaged in a early war with the Drengin (they have nearly 100 planets     , had to be stopped) and the dozen planets I have conquered so far r all being developed in the same way has above, like the Terrans.

Anyone else got any obsverations about planetary development or the AI in general?

This was a major bugbear for me so   stardock   for getting rid of this flaw in the AI!

That's great news, really looking forward to the 1.3 update. As you say, planetary development still had lots of room for improvement. Next up: tactics...

Bldy hell, Bob, you're *still* winning on suicidal? I thought they'd notched it up a bit further. But then I guess you were being massively outproduced and researched before and still winning, so that's not going to change anything.

So now planet development is in decent shape, what are you finding to be the weak link? Diplomacy?

Well random50 the completed 1.3b1 game was a tester, it was on a tiny map against just the Terrans (I like tiny maps they r fun, I can complete the game in 1 or 2 days) so was not a true 'test' really. I won by having a high soldiering, high population growth and jumping him early, better strategy, tactics? I only colonizised pq type 8 or higher planets in the game and well the Terrans continued to coloinise all those PQ 4 - 7 planets (including my moon), I had researched planetary invasion. The turn after the Terrans had colonised the last planet in the galaxy I had 4 transports in place which conquered his 4 best PQ planets.

Those 4 planets, unlike before were well developed (all had 3 factories plus other buildings), so they were useful straight away in my war effort, improved planetary development is a double edged sword for the AI, depends wether they get enough time to make it pay off. I now had a advantage in number of planets and quality of planets, plus higher soldiering/pop. growth and I had geared up for war, every planet producing a warship. The Terran AI had a huge advantage in tech (especially weapons tech), it could also probably still out produce me. I won but the AI was not a push over, I lost 23 warships vs the Terran AI 40 something.

My other 1.3b1 game gigantic galaxy I am not confident of winning, myself the Altarians have 61 planets r at war/crusading with the Drengin (90 planets) and the Yor r cool with me (80'ish planets), the dominion r hostile (80'ish planets), it's going to be bloody!

I reckon I am about to be eradicated from the galaxy.
