I have to say that DA grabbed me in an addicting way that DL never did. It wasn't that DL sucked, I did like it, it was cool, but...it just didn't grab me. My experience is totally different. Where as DL made totally hooked and addict the DA was a letdown for me. I would share 9# optimism but I know that the features Iam longing for are not coming with patches. Well there will always be GC3, Iam alrdy waiting for it <img

Its amazing how so many people can want the same things. My top DA wishlish is in no particular order. - Much improved UP - Old GC2 game engine problems solved. - Kill SB constructor micromanagement hell - Much improved land combat - Borders - Deep espionage system. Sadly none of these got implemented I cant help but to blaim the whole Epic Generator fiasco,

DA is OK in my books, no point hiding that I was midly dissapointed with it. Main reasons being that old GC2 engine problems were not fixed and the lack of UI enchantments. Other than those, DA certaintly is better expansion than others.

I use top down camera views 99% of the time, but I think it zooms too far away from the battle. Free cam ofcourse solves this but thanks to my clunky middle mouse button I never use it. I did pop up the idea of letting players to choose alternative keyboard button for middle mouse, but it did not get implemented

Some really nice ideas here and it all goes for a mantra I have been over and over again. The current Espionage system is too simple, it does not have any flexibility into it. Too bad Frogboy has somekinda obsession about the implemented system and its not likely they will change it. Atleast thats how I interpreted hes comments while the Espionage discussion was heated during DA beta.

Indeed hiddenranbir really hitted the mother Nail with hes comment. Backstories are nice and all but if they don´t affect the gameplay in anyway its pretty much useless. Maybe one day even the AI opponents will have true personality.

than most? can you name one that is more extensive? or even close? even dawn of war, which was a great expansion, is light weight compared to dark avatar. Your right about this, I should have wrote "I don´t personally remember any other expansion pack that is as good as DA", my bad on this one. Somebody mentioned Brood Wars, I never owned that expansion pack but I believe when the poster says it was very good. I must add that

@col80 The 7.8 must be some finnish thing. I think in junior high our grades were given in that format The DA expansion pack is without a doubt more extensive than most of the expansion packs out there. About my bit harsh score I agree that it might be bit on the low side. And as I stated before, Iam pretty sure its because I have played GC2 too much. If DA was a totally new game for me

Thanks for your inputs. For the reacent posters, you did read my closing statement? It pretty much covers what your considering bad in my "review". I did state that I most likely had unreasonable expectations about the expansion pack and hope these things can be improved on a sequal. In my mind I did not compare DA to any other game expansion pack out there, I was just writing my personal opinion about DA, nothing else. I did forget to mention about the custom opponents feature, my bad

I should begin by saying this is a personal review of DA and in no mean should it be taken as anything else The Good By far the best two aspects of the expansion in my opinion are the hazardous enviroment planets and asteroid fields. These add a nice new twist on the gameplay and make it feel fresh. The new ship designs are very nice and I find myself using template ship

I think there should be a limit in place, which allows you to build 4 SB / sector. Though this only affects your own SB not the opponents, I think. Could somebody could confirm this one?

AI is OK in my books but still I do not find it to be light years ahead of GC2, then again I havent played many DA games yet. In the first release I noticed that AI did not create any trading routes. There was update the very next day and in my current game the AI trades more actively. Bug solved I guess or just a quirk. Second nasty thing I noticed was that AI can destroy your mining bases without declaring war. In my last game I gave AI couple ships and he just rushed them th

Good idea, but showing size for components would be problematic. Doesn't component size vary somewhat according to what hull size you're using? Yes indeed, did not think of that. Maybe it be shown as an average size or just by showing an own number for each ship size? tiny: 5 small: 8 medium: 12 Hull components could be bit tricky, but I would like to see atleast building statistics for example Industrial

Thanks for your input everybody I wouldn't say that being able to trade fleets is a must. Accidentally giving away the wrong capital ship would be annoying, accidentally giving away a 50+ logistics sized fleet would be a disaster. Its not totally must that you could give fleets to AI, but something like that would be nice. Havin

With the first colonization tech your planets have 50% production rate. Once you research the second "advanced" colonization tech, your planets produce at 100% rate.

DA is out of beta so thought to bring my list to proper forum section. UI Issues -- When naming a ship, naming should start from the end of the name. IE. Colony 1, typing should beging after the 1 number , not from the beginning before C character. -- Technology screen. Thank you for making a zooming possibility, but the zoom should zoom where the mouse cursor is. At the moment it always zooms on a selected tech. -- Star bases/Constructors should b

Besides the new galaxy creation menus/templates/tech tree there is only one clear ingame UI change from GC2 -> DA. Which is a little arrow pointing from planets into which direction ships are launched from orbit. That is the only UI change I have spotted ingame I really hope SD realizes that before they start pumping out more features with patches they really should fix the underlaying problems tha

Those are some nice improvements. It would be nice if planetary improvements were grouped by type instead of alphabetically though. I yearn for exactly this kinda UI improvements! There are tons of little things how DA could be made much more easier to play. I must question the logic why did the developers not concentrate more on UI tweaks? Iam pretty sure they have just played GC2/DA too much and have become blind to the UI

As a veteran GC2 player Iam tad dissapointed with DA. But wish not spoil the party, I´ll write a review after DA is out for the masses.

1. You research the next mining tech and send a "miner" class ship to upgrade the asteroid fields. You can automate the ships to do this. 2. Dunno, maybe devs can clear this up. 3. Only played one DA game, but even with trade tech on, the AI players do not seem to have all the techs. So yes atleast by my experience, limited diplomacy helps this issue.
