Which Combat Camera View do you like best?

OK, I know the combat camera isn't perfect... so avoiding that pitfall, let's talk about the camera view you enjoy the most - and the camera view you use the most. Maybe this will help people find the best way to utilize the CCV (I know I'd enjoy some extra pointers).

Here's the full list of views:

* Top Down 1
* Top Down 2
* Chase Cam 1
* Chase Cam 2
* Chase Cam 3
* Chase Cam 4
* Orbiting
* From Center
* From Start
* From Random
* From Ship
* Cinematic
* Free Cam

Thanks to all those that stop in and offer tips and advice.

I just switch to the free cam, seems the only way to ensure I get the view I want. Kudos to Stardock for offering so many options.

I prefer chase cam 1 makes you feel more involved in the combat - but haven't tried many others

I like top down 2. It doesn't jump as much as other settings and gives a nive overview of the whole battle.

I always use the free cam as it lets me set up the perfect camera angle.

I use top down camera views 99% of the time, but I think it zooms too far away from the battle.

Free cam ofcourse solves this but thanks to my clunky middle mouse button I never use it. I did pop up the idea of letting players to choose alternative keyboard button for middle mouse, but it did not get implemented

I like to use cinematic as it often looks cool. I have no idea how to use the free cam, probably because I don't have a wheel mouse or middle mouse button like sam0t mentioned about.

"Free" when I'm feeling interactive and want the best view, "from start" when I'm feeling lazy and just want to sit back and watch.

I tend to use either Top Down 2 or Free Cam. I use TD2 when I just want to get a feel for what ships in my fleets the AI is targeting most. I tend to use a mixed fleet approach so I like to see what ships are being targeted at the start. Gives me a pretty good idea of what my ship producing worlds should be making and where I need to adjust my designs. I use free cam when I've got a really cool ship design that I just want to watch maneuver around space.

If I have 1 vs 1 battle viewing set I use one of the chase cams.

From Ship. In a fleet, it bounces around nicely from ship to ship, showing the view from attacker to defender, focusing on both enemy and friendly ships. Better than cinematic, that will sometimes bounce to useless views.

"Instant Battles"

Combat viewer is a waste of time.

Januhull - I've spent some time with the "From Ship" view and I relaly like it a lot. I wonder if SD can get the camera to stop bobbing in that view. Then it'd be perfect.

Oy, tell me about it. I let it go after a battle was over once so I could do some screenshots, and damned near got seasick...
