I think, should the new rule come in (and it is a hard cap 4 total per sector), that the AI would be made to be aware of the potential monopoly and simply destroy your crappy starbases. The point is that they would need to declare war on you to do this. If they are going for a cultural victory, then

My main point is that since the starbases aren't sector based, why should there be a sector limit? The current system makes much more sense. If people are taking advantage of it, then all you need to do is adjust either the area of effect, or the minimum distance between starbases, or both. A sector based limitation on sometihng that has nothing to do with sectors just doesn't make sense to me. (It wouldn't affect me considering how I pla

I know that Brad wanted to change the rule from there can be no starbase within 3 parsecs of any other starbases to a hard 4 starbase limit per sector. While I believe that this would be a great rule for Gal Civ 1, it doesn't make much sense for Gal Civ 2. Here is why: In Gal Civ 1, the starbases were sector based. This meant that every star base in that sector would affect only that sector, but would affect it completely. A hard limit o

Anyone else think it's silly you have to start a game via metaverse ? Is there some other differences ? I'd rather it just had some sort of cheat checker at the end of the game, and then you could post. I agree.

If you unlink production and military sure you can now run both at 100%, but if they chop the capacities in half what difference does it make? Now if they don't chop capacities in half then it nearly amounts to the same thing as you'd have to devote more room on planets to income generation, again, lowering your available space f

I actually like the system as it is. I would hate for the enemies to be able to retreat everytime they were losing a battle, because they didn't plan well enough to build up a proper defense. (Same goes for me, if I screwed up, I want to lose.)

I have generally avoided commenting on the AI, since I haven't had as much opportunity to play as most. (I can only play at night when the kids are sleeping.) But I have played through a half dozen games against intellegent AI's now, and I have won all of the games. Wasn't even close. At no time was I afraid that I might lose a game. The biggest problems I have with the AI is that they do not build up their worlds very well, and they do not make their ships fast enough to pose a threat. I

I have had it happen too. It happens for me when I have a fleet with a transport in it, and I attack with that fleet. If I win/lose, and lose the transport, the remaining ships will no longer be able to form a new fleet for some reason. EDIT: What I meant by attack, was to do a planetary invasion. If I invade a planet with a fleet that has both transports and other ships, the other ships will not be able to form a new fleet after the invasion.

You can't keep your tax rate over 70%. (At least I can't.) It is capped at 69%, because people were taking advantage of morale resources. At 70% morale suddenly drops, but 69% is where I usually keep my taxes too. (It is funny to see morale of 80-90% at 69% taxes and 15% at 70% taxes.)

After I built the Galactic Guide Book, the option of adding a survey module disapeared, so I assumed that meant that all of my ships could explore anomolies. (I never found out though, because they were all gone by then.)

GC1 had sector influence, while GC2 uses a parcec influence. I think that they took out that feature, because the units are so small. (I was wondering the same thing.)

I have the opposite problem. No one ever picks a fight with me. I don't like to start fights, but I like to do them, so I kind of try to get the opponents to fight me at times. I think it has something to do with the fact that I am always neutral, and so I don't have any natural enemies like good and evil civilizations have. Try being Neutral and building up a sizable army, and no-one will try to push you around. EDIT: Also, trade with all of the civs. This keeps them from wantin

I went to put up a picture for my Metaverse character, and there was already one there. It was called Zabimaru. I definately didn't make that. I renamed it to what I was going to put there, but could it possibly be someone using my serial somehow to go on the Metaverse?

Hartford just sucks.. period... it doesn't deserve to be placed on a list of locations to live such as Austin, FL, So Cal etc... Hartford is the dregs of where you can live... I think it rivals Jersey. I would tend to agree with you there, although I liked it better than Southern Cal. I'm sure it is

Make sure that you update to version 1.0X here is the link: Link That should fix your problems. Otherwise do what they say above: update your video drivers. While the game doesn't look all that graphic intense, it actually uses some very new features of DX9.0C, so drivers even 6 months old are often no good. Make sure that you update to the newest ones available.
