I see so many people complain about the tech trading that it worries me that you will change it. It doesn't need to be "fixed" as they say it does. It is my favorite part of this game that you can get "fair" market value for things. I like that friendly civs trade with each other. It helps me develop to trade techs with the computer as I play. It usually ends up that the good civs have similar techs because they trade with each other, and evil civs have similar techs because they trade wit

I hear all of the complaints about the ease of trading technologies, and I just want to say that that is one of my favorite parts of the game. I love the fact that you can easily trade things with your neighbors! You always had to give up twice as much as you got in Civilization, and that just kept you from even trying. But here you usually get very fair trades, so I hope that you don't tone down the trade like people are asking you to. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/B

One thing you can do is customise your race to have great diplomacy, and trade weapon techs with the Drath and Korx. This is because they start out next to the Dread Lords, so they will be gaining some of their technology as they conquer their planets early on. Build fast fleets with a lot of fire power - don't bother with defense (The Dread lords weapons are too powerful to effectively defend, plus they don't seem to add much defense to their ships, so if you strike first, you can u

I have noticed that when I buy a colony ship sometimes it will give me money instead of me having to pay money for it. The last time, I had about 800bc and the ship cost something like 1100bc. As soon as I bought the ship, I had 3200bc. The ship I bought was a custom colony ship that I had designed in a previous game if that matters at all.

I believe the second option over the drop-down for fleets is "show battles only if both sides are fleets", uncheck that, and things should work. It took me a while to figure this out too...

I agree. Thank you Star Dock for making such a great game. It has been a long time since I have had anything to look forward to, so it is nice to not be so grumpy all the time. I am happy that I get to go and play the game later. (I know, I am pathetic...) But you have done a great job on this.

I think that this is for how much the choice you choose will push you toward the corresponding ethical alignment. So if you choose a good "200" choice, it would push you very far to good, or if you choose an evil "5" choice, it would barely move you toward evil at all. That would be my guess, for what its worth.

This was a bug in Gal Civ 1 as well. When you load a save game, all influence that you gained from the previous game is lost, so you start from scratch. My guess is that is what happened with them, and since you had more influence starbases, you won the battle. I was hoping that they would fix that for this game. I hated bartering for influence just to lose it when i had to quit the game...

I have been playing through the campaign, and I think I am on the last map (I just finished of fthe Dread Lords on the previous map), but I have found that there are no cut scenes in the game. (Like GC1 had when you conquered a world, or colonized the first planet.) Is this just because I am playing the campaign, or is there something wrong with the Multimedia pack that I have downloaded?

I have updated a ship design a few times, and I am trying to delete the old inefficient designs, but I can't figure out how. I saved over them when I made the new ones, but they keep showing up in the "quick build" screen. I can't find them in the regular build screen where the delete option is. In addition, whenever I buy the ship, I get the old design that i don't want anyway. I can't buy the new one at all. I can't figure out why. Please help.

After reading through some of the journals, it seems like you can't station ships at star bases to defend them like you could in GC1. Is it possible to station a few defenders at star bases to defend them like you can with planets? I know that is how I used to defend them in GC1.

In the planet description screen for Earth, their is a "/n" still in the description on the left hand side. I noticed this while looking through the most recent game journal, shown here: https://www.galciv2.com/screenshots/gameplay/humans59.jpg

This may be a stupid question, but since you guys made the GAL CIV 2 engine so mod-able, are you planning on selling it to third parties? There may be some people interested in making 4X type games with the engine you have already created.

I tried to purchase Gal Civ 2 over the weekend, but I ended up getting an error. I got charged for the game three times, but I can't find a phone number anywhere to call and get this fixed. I tried e-mailing but I recieved no response, and I hate communicating through e-mail. (I would far rather talk to someone over the phone.) Could someone get me a number I can call to get help from Stardock Sales?
