The Terrans seem like they are taking the strategy I usually use: Build up infrastructure early, so you have a huge manufacturing advantage. If you can research Democracy fast enough, you can usually keep in the black and by the time anyone attacks you, you can pump out ships faster than they can by an order of magnitude. The changes you made in the engines (making them bigger) just makes this tactic even better, because they can no longer Blitzkrieg you before you can build

Cool. Where is it in the options? I thought I remembered seeing it there, but when I looked through them I couldn't find anything.
Like the title says, how do I run Gal Civ 2 in windowed mode from Impulse? The game crashes whenver I alt-tab, and I would like to run it in windowed mode to help this. It would be a nice addition to Impulse if you could run it that way by right clicking on the icon and clicking "run in windowed mode".
On the last mission for Dark Avatar, I noticed that as soon as I came accross more than 4 other civilizations, I could no longer remove spies from the espionage tab. You can add them, but when you click on remove it just moves you to the next page. Once I destroyed one of the factions, I could then begin to remove spies again (probably since there are only enough factions to fill a single page.)
After a long vacation, I have reinstalled GC2, and I have an issue with the game crashing. After some unknown amount of time (15-20 minutes maybe) the game will go into strange mode. All of the planets will start rotating insanely fast on the plaet screen, and all the ships will do the same in the shipbuilder mode. If you go into a full battle, then all the ships in the battle will bind together at the center and rotate together causing the game to lock up. The map wil
Thanks, I may do that. How would I know about the updates?
I just purchased the expansions on Impulse, and downloaded them, but I recieved activation errors in the form of a text document each time I did so. I am able to play the game, but does this mean that I will not be able to update the games? I did buy the games under a seperate e-mail address than my username is linked to (Which has caused problems with me before, but I did it again because I was in a hurry and forgot.)
Now that I have played one game under "Masochistic" with the new AI, I can say that it can finally keep up with me in Research and expansion. I think this will be the new difficulty level I use. However, they were still very docile in that game, although I usually strike within the first two years so maybe they just haven't built up a sufficient force to be aggressive yet? I do think that the AI is much improved, although not enough to make the game as enjoyable as it was when I first started
The AI does seem a little better. The opponents are still very docile, and I haven't had any try to attack me yet, but they are building up quicker and are making better choices on their planets. They are also building better ships and are at least putting up a fight when I attack them. If you set the opposition to "crippling" they can almost keep up with you in technology, economy, and production, although they still fall behind. I've only played 3 games with the new AI, so I'll try the nex
Those are some nice improvements. It would be nice if planetary improvements were grouped by type instead of alphabetically though.
That looks really cool. You're doing a great job.
What ever happened to the Terran overview at IGN? They stopped after they got to the Dread Lords, but said that they were going to do one about the Terrans. (Part VI)
The biggest problem was that you acted too late. Like you said you waited too long before making your move, and even if you had taken Akilia, The drengin had already grown more powerful than you.
I have to say that I am very impressed with the work that you have done on this project.
well sometimes what i do is i give one of the warring nation enough ships to destroy the starbase and if they are out of range, even build him a starbase... sometimes it works, and sometimes they just ship the ships back home and they leave the mining starbase alone. I have used this strategy as well. Of course, you need a backup plan for whe
Flame out to all Anti-Tac nerds The fact that you wrote that in your title pretty well qualifies you as a nerd. No need to throw stones if you are a glass house. On a side note, tactical battles might be cool in the sequel. I have gotten bored of this game and haven't played it for a while, but I will probably come back and play ag
I had that happen to me on multiple occasions with the Torians. They continued to trade me the same technology, and I would never actually obtain it, but they would get the technology that I gave them. This hasn't happened since 1.0X though.
I've never seen the AI come back from a losing position either.

Here is an exerp from firing squad: AMD’s relied on DDR400 to carry them for three years now. DDR400 has served AMD well over this time, but it’s definitely beginning to show signs of age. DDR memory consumes more power than DDR2, and just flat out doesn’t have the frequency headroom that DDR2 has. When DDR2 was initially released, AMD stuck with DDR400 as
I would only pay money for an expansion if it included a new Campaign or Multiplayer.
I thought that they told you which two races were destroyed at the end of the campaign. I seem to remember it saying that two races were so destroyed that they ceased to exist. I won't say which two they were, since it will spoil the compaign, but I remember which two they said were completely anihilated. (Which I found strange, because I dominated every mission I was given at the time, and yet we were still losing the war?)
The expansion sounds really cool. I would like to check it out when it becomes available. I am glad that you are putting a campaign in the expansion, the rest of it is gravy as far as I am concerned.
Trade is useful for diplomatic relations but not very useful as a source of money. I don't even bother with trade anymore, because I want there to be a greater chance that the computer will attack me. The game gets kind of boring when everyone likes you and no-one puts up any resistance to your plans to conquer the galaxy.
Millions of people pay $15 per month to play World of Warcraft. Do they add new content every month? Not only do people pay the $15 per month but they then $40 for add-ons like the Burning Crusade (on top of the $50 for WoW and the $15 per month). Those millions of people are playing online and are interacting with other people. They have a co
