Save and reload the game. by the way: You should upgrade your game...

I would try to run the game at 1440*768 resolution by editing the prefs.ini. 768 is the lowest possible horizontal resolution for galciv2 iirc. And by by using 1440 horizontal you would use the fulls width of your screen with a correct ratio.
I used to play V 1.2 with Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller on my laptop nearly without problems. (Latest driver from intel website, default driver configuration) So: It is possible to run galciv on this graphic chip. You should not give up easily...
Yes,It's seems to be a poblem of the 82865G Intel graphics controller (Same happens to me on my laptop)
Made some interesting observation about the Perfromance on vista: The game runs smooth like a charm on Vista Beta 2 if you hide the content area ! It seems like that the minipap itself causes some problems on vista/nvidia. But if you disable it it runs really great...
ít runs un vista, but the map scrolling and zooming is rather slow (normal and strategic view), although the graphics in the ship designer are really fast and CIV 4 is running well. I'm running on nforce2 and GT6800 ith latest beta drivers. Anyone out there, who can play with a smooth map???
http://www.si-games.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=48 A german forum with talk about many strategy games including paradox games and Galciv2
you can play the release version 1.0 in german language without patching. It has some minor bugs. Or could use the actual Patch 1.0X.10, which will convert your game in english language. THe public patch 1.1 will translated in german, but you would have to wait till it comes out (scheduled for end of the month) Look at the post from frogboy about the german version in the stickies.
i would suggest popping up message "beware, this BETA, use at your own risk", evertime you start the game. Just to avoid misunderstandings and postz like "oh no, theybroke the game"... BTW these are very significant changes... looking forward to it
research is one key element in my games. And You cannot buy or steal technologies, which are not invenented yet by the other races. So you have to research and you will get a big bonus out of it: To be ahead in the right techs will give you a big advance
Press 1, 2, or 3 or activate "Snap back from rotating" in options
would really be nice, but will wont come true. BTW, it would be hard to teach the AI getting the same benefit from it as the human surly will get
1024*768 is minimum. Even if you would have bigger dektop resolution: window mode does not mean that you have a resizeable game window. It's still without a border, but you can switch tasks faster and use aother progs simultaenously.
Done a forum search on "logitech" and found: "On the logitech control panel or mouse properties it should have number 6 as universal scroll.Change it to middle mouse in the buttons/modify section." Means: the scroll whee must be configured as middle button. Galciv uses middle button to rotate. Maybe that helps. You can also use the rotate icons in the shipbuilders upper right corner to rotate the view.
O and the AI does know were all the habitable planets are...they don't need to explore. Sorry, this is said often but it is not true. At least at tough i've seen several times AI-Colonize-ships heading straight to star systems without any habitable planet. They changed their direction at that moment,
nobody should be so "diplomatic advanced" that he could convince his trading partner to give him 5 bucks in return for 4 bucks! Never testet this, but if this is true, Diplomacy abilities should be revisited. In the meantime: Just don't do it
1st) You have to click "done" and not "back to planet" (i' m considering this as a minor bug)
More population means more cash from economic based planets And cash is the most important factor in the game: no cash = no production or research, even if you have build tons if factorys and labs. So i would care for population growth on any of my planets. Even if it is a pure research planet, the population will givetax cash....<b
If i were stardock i had put a readonly clear vsisible sticky at the top in this forum. If People seem to miss the info (and they do!) it should made more clear. I can understand being annoyed if you are not able to download a patch for legally bought game. BTW, i thought that there were paradox versions with missing serial numbers anymore out there? Are they still shipping them ???
Don't know if it solves your problem, but you should look at this link: https://www.galciv2.com/paradox/ and check for "0" and "O" -Characters!
It's displayed in a frameless window. If Desktopsize = gamesize then you will see no difference apart from switching alt-tab faster and the possibility to run some other apps in the foreground (if they are "always on top" marked)
click on the constructor-ship and then on the "construct" -Button in the bottom panel
Should work. I'm running on a slow intel integrated graphic ship with shared memory and it is ok... Remember to install the latest nvidia drivers...
