Does german version work or not?

Hi, i bought my german version yesterday.
Now i read something about version 1.0 and 1.0x an 1.1 etc.
My question is, does the german version work or not? (even for a short game to test the basics)
May someone has gain experience with the change of the Data/german to Data/English folder?

you can play the release version 1.0 in german language without patching. It has some minor bugs. Or could use the actual Patch 1.0X.10, which will convert your game in english language. THe public patch 1.1 will translated in german, but you would have to wait till it comes out (scheduled for end of the month)

I will wait for the end of the month for a german patch. My english isn't that bad (I managed to win a game in Master of Orion 3, which is also english, and everyone who played and seen the interface of MoO3 knows how lame it is lol), but to learn a game it's easier and more fun in your native language. First I planned to play GC2 for like 1-2 weeks in german so I know everything and then switch to US with all the patches. But as we can see, the issue is going to get fixed. 8)
