"Error 12: Invalid Collectors Edition Serial Number"

I just got Galactic Civ 2 delivered from Amazon (UK), when installing it gives no complaints whatsoever about the serial. But when I enter the collectors edition serial on the downloads section it gives me the error "Error 12: Invalid Collectors Edition Serial Number".

I'm most definitely inputting it correctly.

What could be wrong?

Don't know if it solves your problem, but you should look at this link: https://www.galciv2.com/paradox/
and check for "0" and "O" -Characters!

Thanks, the link worked.

Stardock/Paradox (the publisher) could have been a tad bit more descriptive in telling people in Europe this. This is very poor form.

No mention of this whatsoever in the documentation with the game, nice move. Great way to annoy customers...

Well, you have the following:
- On the paradox forums (publisher in Europe) : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=235167 It is a sticky annoucement on the paradox GC2 forum.
- on www.galciv2.com : you need to go to the download section, then you will have a small link for european release

No mention of this whatsoever in the documentation with the game, nice move. Great way to annoy customers...

Well, I don't see how a manufacturing problem could be in the game documentation, expecially if it hasn't spotted before the package wase wrapped.

And both sites give solution to this problem. What could have they done more?

If i were stardock i had put a readonly clear vsisible sticky at the top in this forum.

If People seem to miss the info (and they do!) it should made more clear. I can understand being annoyed if you are not able to download a patch for legally bought game.

BTW, i thought that there were paradox versions with missing serial numbers anymore out there? Are they still shipping them ???
