Video Driver details:

All the dxdiag tests pass.

If you can't see the images, I put them in my Picasa web folder, it doesn't like linking.

It would be much better if you simply posted the contents of your debug.err file.
That has both the DXDiag info and game info.

You do not even state what your problem is.

plays fine on mine, with exact same driver - is this the beta?

If I recall correctly, intel intergrated graphics are not support by GalCiv2... And the sun enlarging and encompassing the whole starmap is caused by that type of intergrated graphics controller.

hi ya , i have intel intergrated on my laptop, the game can be slow and the fleet battles choppy, but she gets the job done and i find its worth it, as its a cracking game.
dont know much about specs but mines a pk bell notebook (cheap range) e2316?

Too bad that integrated graphics controller won't work.

The problem is mostly visual, why try to explain it, when a picture is much more succinct.

I used to play V 1.2 with Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller on my laptop nearly without problems. (Latest driver from intel website, default driver configuration)

So: It is possible to run galciv on this graphic chip. You should not give up easily...

It appears that the ship models are corrupted as well, from the thumnail of the colony ship in that picture. How about posting the contents of the debug.err file that you can find in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever else you may have isntalled the game at).

It works okay for me too.

It's bad at showing constructor/starbase aura, autopilot & trade lines and a few other things and I sometimes get the corrupt ship thumbnails that you have in your screenshot (ship graphics on the map and in battle are fine) but otherwise, I haven't had any problems with it.

Hmm...it could be the giant star issue.  Have you updated to 1.2?

Yeah it's a giant star, I put 1.2 on, but I didn't try the beta 1.3b1

Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the game (1.2 or 1.3beta)
This will make sure you have the correct version of sphere.x file, located in /gfx/models/

That was the file that caused the original "giant star" problem.

If you still continue to experience this problem, another thing you could try is checking the "Disable Hardware Transform and Lighting" option in the Video Performance options.

I have an intel integrated graphics card...

turn stars off, ship textures, lighting, weapons effects and have the stategic zoom set so you can't see too many ships before turning to icons...

I love the game, it could look like a jackson polluck for all I care.

I just recently found out about the Stardock Central tool, I upgraded to 1.3b2 and things look normal now.

Thanks for all the help.
