I posted a few times about the problem I'm having posting to the metaverse. The basic gist of the problem is that I had a great game that somehow will not post due to some serial number mismatch which appears to have started after I registered my TA beta in SDC. The response that came back from support indicated they hadn't even looked at the forum post I linked to in my question, and basically told me as much as I'd already figured out. I need to re-register my original serial in SDC and the
The way I see it, if new players are like "this game sucks ass and they should have waited a month, then great... they can go back to playing Halo 3, the most hyped game of all time, that to me looks like every other shooting game out there. We don't want them as customers. ... Who cares what they think. I guess money is the only thing that matters. Like I care what these guys say. World in Conflict got a 95% from Gamespot, the highest rated game of the year, and
An important note here - a few people are saying that a December release will ultimately be the same as a January release after they release a few patches. This might be true, but has a few drawbacks that some people may not be aware of: * Stardock wants to get started on GC2 v2.0. There was a plan at one point that it would be out in January or February I believe. The option of releasing in December sounds like it would mean cutting out new features for good, probably in favo
I strongly urge a late release if it means more content. If it simply means dragging out the beta to give more time to play each race, then let's get it out sooner. The only real issue here is that SD could make a lot more money if it's ready before xmas. Many crappy games have been pushed out way too early to get that boost in sales, and even a buggy TA would be a better gift than most games. I'd prefer a better and more stable game, but I don't want SD to lose out on sales because
Highlander, that final step, pasting serials into the metaverse account, is the one that's got me stuck - how do you change the serial of an existing character? I have no desire to create an entirely new character, but I don't see any option to change a character's serial. EDIT: I just verified and I can definitely post a game against a new character, just not my default character. Clearly it's not an issue of my game serial being messed up somehow, so if I could just reset my charact
Hmm, I also filed a bug with the metaverse and also pre-ordered TA - the problems just started after putting in the TA serial to get the beta. Could there be a connection? I'm currently still awaiting a response on my ticket, but I only opened it about 24 hours ago, so I'm still feeling semi-patient.
doogles, who would want to be this or that race, have you not discovered that you can create a custome race. I would prefer LAN option connected via IP address, and then that would eliminate geting the players doing "dirty tricks" becuase you know who you are playing against. Also you could still play with AI oponents as well as player oponents, and so most of the special abbilities coud still be of use. The chance of getting a poor starting positio
DethAdder, I made all purchases online. I'm not sure if I can find the true, original serial I was issued, but maybe my email archives would have it.... I guess I'll try that out before emailing support, just in case it helps. EDIT: Updating all serials in SDCentral didn't help. I checked my original emails and put in the serials for the original gold edition purchase as well as the token purchase (total gaming subscription as they call it). Double-checked in the game menu's "update
Ah, okay then. I'll send 'em an email, thanks!
Now I'm even more confused.... If this is an issue with the Metaverse serial, then how do I create a new character to test things out? I mean, what serial would I enter for the new character? And why isn't there an option on my existing character to edit the serial number? I really don't want to have to ditch this game, either. It was a huge game (for me) - best score, first Iconian Refuge win, and way more time investment than most of my other games have been.
Just double-checked my account settings here on gc2.com and the serial number there was different than what was in SDCentral. Not sure how this happened. Emailed myself the serial info and the numbers were again different. I figured the safest bet was to input the serial data from the website, but that didn't fix the error. Just now went back to my account data here on gc2.com and again the serials are different. Not sure what's going on, but my serial data just changes every time I
I've never had a problem with a metaverse post, but all of a sudden tonight, my highest-scoring game ever has been rejected. This is infuriating. I'm not aiming for a top spot, but I do like to see a history of all my games and especially how I have gone from low scores to higher scores over time. I think this has to do with the TA beta, because all games before I installed it had no trouble posting to the metaverse, whereas this game was started before I installed TA and finished aft
Sounds pretty much like my PK event. But PK ships stay in one area so you know a given planet is going to be "trapped" in an undefended state. This is my first PK event and I think they're so damn tough because of the insane military that was in my galaxy when they appeared. Huge-hulled ships with 200 attack, 430 defense, and 31 speed are NOT easy to "mop up". Especially in fleets of 4-10 ships. But I bet if they occurred early on, it'd be much easier to get the tech to beat them.<b
The link isn't as obvious as I'd like - it's called "Link" and shows up under my post above, but here's the wiki URL just in case: https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Peacekeeper_Strategy
I got this sweet event and decided I wanted to play it through even though it was frustrating as hell to see my incredible military might get squashed like a little bug. My game isn't done, but I've found some great uses for the Peacekeepers that I thought I'd share. But forum posts have a way of disappearing on you over time, so I've put all my knowledge into the wiki. Enjoy!
After a long session of playing with these frakking peacekeepers, I have much wisdom to impart. 1: Don't engage the peacekeepers until you have significantly surpassed the level of tech that you had when they appeared! If you didn't figure this out on your own, though, I can't really help you. 2: Use them for defense! You can't defend worlds they patrol anyway, so if a transport slips in you have no way to stop it. Just rely on their "protection" to keep your worlds safe.<br
Hmm... I wonder if these guys will let me by if I stop all my wars. Has anybody tried this? I'll go try right now and see what happens. I'm by far the leader in the galaxy so no worries about convincing others to be peaceful with me. ... No luck. They came, they saw I was warlike, they decided to kick my ass. Also, I'm pretty sure they pop up with specific attack and defense based on the current galaxy. My PK ships have an insane missile defense, fairly good
Heh, as much as I hate the terrans being crippled regarding Stellar Cartography... It's simply not that big of a deal. I wouldnt use the term 'crippled". 1) If youre not "into" diplomacy for some reason, you're not playing as the Terrans, and 2) Stellar Cart isnt *that* big of a deal. It's not like it tells you were the habitable worlds are...just gives you a general clue as to where they "might" be. One way or another
-I'm not sure if maybe it's already planned for, but I'd love to see more fleet technology. I recall only a few techs in the arcean tree, and it seems like the angle of fleet-specific modules could really go far for making fleets useful again. +attack, +def, +hp, +speed, +range, +repair, and so on. -This isn't specific to TA, but an option to change interface color mid-game would be great. Sometimes I'll choose a color and not really get bothered by it until I'm two hou
No doubt you're right about that, but it's one of those things that makes me wish for a deeper combat model. After all, such a ship would be a high value target - easy to bring down and its loss crippling to the fleet that it's with.
I dunno - in my own vision of fleet battles, the command ship would hang back from the fight, making it so you have to wade through the fighters before you can get to the command ship. Just like with transports, con
I saw this same issue with ships disappearing. Wonder if it's a leftover effect of the similar DA bug? I created a new ship altogether and gave it a name that was 100% unique to the world to be sure it wouldn't "collide" with an existing design, and that worked. The similarity of the workaround to the DA bug is why I'm thinking it could be related, but really I have no idea. However, something just occurred to me - when I had the issue I was adding hyperdrive engines because I saw ot
I second the question - I love the new art, but upgrading my entertainment network to an ultimate stadium was a bummer - the graphics suddenly had no character! Not a huge issue, but it would be neat for each race to have a 100% full makeover.
Heh, as much as I hate the terrans being crippled regarding Stellar Cartography (I tend to play with tech trading off - though as has been mentioned that makes humans pretty crappy even in DA), it is a clever idea. In GC1, humans (the only playable race) were crippled in that they didn't get to see the planets until they rushed to get SC, which wasn't huge, but did take a fair amount of time. And the AI's biggest (maybe only?) cheat was that it got to see the planets and knew ahead of time whi
Possible tech tree mistake - I can't get to starbase defenses until all three levels of starbase fortification are reached, which is a very expensive tech tree. Basically this will make the arceans unable to build military starbases that do much until late game.
Another arcean bug report - I think the PlanetaryFortification and Cathedral of Valor techs are supposed to do something And PlanetaryFortification needs a space.
