I just don't get the problem with mega events. The whole point is that they totally disrupt the game. I abhor a couple of them (particularly the one that effectively puts the game on a timer by giving seemingly-random boosts to one race every turn), but the point is to make the game totally change when they pop in. Pirates are one I haven't dealt with, but they only attack your ships, right? And if nobody in the galaxy can fight them, doesn't that mean you have time to concentrate on your in

I'm late! But I also have a beef with alignment. Aside from the need for fixing the overpowered evil, I think buying into an alignment needs to be much different. I might enjoy the evil bonuses on every ethical question that comes up, but still choose to be good (I like to draw out the end game by building insanely defensive ships - a single ship normally can take out multiple fleets of my enemies), and the cost is almost negligible. For instance, if I'm a good civ to begin w

I actually do well playing good, but I think it's got a lot to do with galaxy size (or planet numbers). If I rush to Xeno Ethics, and buy my way into good in a game where I have only 10 planets or so, the instant financial boost is very nice. But in a big game with dozens of planets or more, that wouldn't even remotely be worthwhile as a reason to go good. The other reason I do well as a good guy is because of the defensive boosting techs. I know my playing style is very far from opt
Do you have any ideas of the 'optimum' (NOT 'minimum') requirements for playing the GalCivII's trilogy (Dread, Dark, and Twilight), please ? So far, there is no retailer in France, except for the Dread Lords issue, and the most valuables infos are for the "Dark Avatar" minimum configuration. I am planning to change my PC and download the whole pack. Then, I am browsing some information of the PC config that should allow me playing conveniently.
I doubt

From what I can tell, you have to (a) get your original serial number either by emailing support or finding your original purchase email, (b) re-register that serial in SD Central, and (c) re-register your serial on the metaverse via the "Register" link at the bottom of the page. Do that, and you "should" be able to post a new game. It does appear that my incredible game that had the problem will never be postable, and support is totally worthless for getting that dealt with. So your saves th

Nope - I was good in my game. A huge warmonger, but ethically good. I'm pretty sure they go after those either at war or in violation of the neutral space rule. In my universe, pretty much everybody was at war, and the Peacekeepers kicked all our asses. It was actually really funny.

I'm guessing tourism is still based primarily on influence (though it is clearly also based on the people who live in your sphere of influence as well). I'd love to see more interesting tourism mechanics, but my main concern is that it isn't game-breaking, and it sounds like it no longer will be. I'm a happy little nerd. EDIT: I am confused what Cari meant by the 0.001% bit. I am reading it as you get a 0.001% boost for every one million people living in your influence,

Awesome, you fixed tourism! I'm glad you were keeping up on our concerns, even if you didn't have time to respond directly. Thanks for kicking ass as usual, guys! Keen on trying out the Yor. They're one of my favorites in DA, curious how they'll pan out in TA.

I don't know if it's just certain races, but in TA I thought that farms were gimped. I have no farming options to start, a +3 on the first tech, and then two more techs that I haven't researched. It may still hit +7 on the final tech, but I'd expected it was +3, +5, +6, leaving off the +7. I loved that in TA there was no initial farm to build, so I hope I'm not mistaken in thinking this is what happens for all races...

Yes, other race's techs shouldn't overwrite your own. I don't really much care how it's fixed, but this is problematic. I don't mind if you simply can't gain the tech, or if I have a popup, or whatever. Ideally, you'd get both techs for the passive bonus as well as the better improvement, but that may not be realistic for development. The other problem with "conflicting" techs is that they cause your list of improvements to become almost unmanageable. If I'm playing as the Drengin/K

Heh, "semi-patient" is now yours if you like - I downgraded to "completely impatient" a while ago and posted all about it because I was getting nowhere. It looks as though there will be no way to post my two games. I emailed both to support and am awaiting a further response. I hope that this issue affects more people so stardock will have to get the metaverse code in a more stable state, or at least provide us with some way to post "broken" saves.

BUMP! Devs, please address this at least by saying "FRAK OFF! We're busy as hell dealing with real bugs!" I don't think this thread is going to stop building until there's some kind of resolution.

Sending the saves to support right now, but what I really don't understand is why there can't be something in debug.err or some way for me to analyze the save files. It would be nice if you guys (Stardock support) didn't have to be bothered for me to be able to get this taken care of.

I'd really like to hear from the devs on this - is it something they want to do a quick-fix for (i.e., change to a lower value), something they plan to scale based on map size, or something they just want to leave in?

I think this is not so much a situation of getting more special tiles on home worlds as much as it is simply a situation of more special tiles in general. I don't see many games with special tiles on my home world, but I have seen more of the +300% and +700% tiles than I remember seeing in DA. But I thought there was some mention of that in some changelog somewhere...? Can't recall anymore....

-Allow Drengin and Korath to upgrade mining starbases past 9%. It seems like maybe this was overlooked, or maybe it was assumed you could find a friendly AI to trade techs with, but either way it seems odd that the most powerful military forces cannot utilize a military starbase because of their inability to get the technologies that give you better mining. If this is intended for balance, I suppose I can live with it, but it seems like an accident of the tech tree more than anything e

#5 I have seen as well, but I think it's in DA 1.8 as well. But I can't be certain. #7 - Never seen it to this degree, but when it happened to me, I saw a PQ 15 drop to like 13 or so, and merely assumed the AI had chosen the +20% PQ bonus pick. With the techs in DA, if an AI chooses +20% and trades for weather control and then the torian +5% boost, they'd have a +35%. Granted that doesn't explain a loss from 12 to 6, but maybe something like that? #8 - The latest beta I've o
let me guess you are all playing on medium maps or smaller
Assuming we all were, what would it matter? The tourney is medium, and it's the only TA game I've been playing since the update. So what? If medium games are broken, that's still not a good thing! I guess MaxAstro pretty much already said it all. Oh well.

In the tournament game in the newest beta, even crappy players like me can feel the tourism insanity. I realized (too late perhaps) that the key to winning this scenario quickly is to get influence as fast as humanly possible. I am definitely going to win, but it took a while to realize the fastest way to do so. The tourney has something like 12-15 habitable planets in total. With all of them full, that's still a pretty low total galactic population, which I believe is the basis for

I was not able to post the existing games, but I was able to post a new game, so whatever the problem is, it's somehow stuck in the two save games I have. I re-registered on the web with the serial number provided by support, and created a new character with that serial. Not sure which of those two fixed the issue with posting new games. Is there any way to analyze the save file to figure out why it won't post?

6 Replies 5,527 Views

Just voicing another person hit with this issue here. In my current game it's a very minor issue since I'm playing on a map with very few planets (less money, less ships), but I think this would be a deal breaker on a more planet-heavy map.

Thanks for the effort - I won't have a chance to look at this until I get home. But I am pretty amazed I never looked through the links on the bottom of practically every page to see the "Register" link. I think I caught "teh dumb" recently or something. My only concern is I don't think this will work. I can create a new metaverse character and post just fine, but my last new game still wasn't able to post to my old character <img src="smiles/Mad.gif" border=0 align="absmiddle

You guys rock. I'm a bit nervous about the income changes, personally - I utterly loved the horrible pain of trying to manage my economy early game (yes, I'm a masochist). But I've learned a lesson with Stardock - you guys simply don't build crap. I imagine it'll take some getting used to, but the new tourism situation will almost certainly turn out to be very interesting. Plus I always kind of thought tourism was nearly useless, so this is damn sweet. Also very happy to see
