In the tech trading screens do we now have the ability to know that we are trading for a tech that is a prereq. to something we already having, thus wasting our trade? Hope that made sense. Thanks

Well, I am "old" and so with kids intermediate through high school and job I do not get to play like I did in the glory days. But when I do it currently is GalCiv2 and Battle for Middle-Earth with a little Empire at War sprinkled in for the Star Wars geek within. As a side note, non TBS usually is WarRock, Battlefront2 (that star wars geek thing again) and still working on finishing Half-Life 2.
Currently reading Judas Unchained, sequel to Pandora's Star by Peter Hamilton. Pretty good stuff and I have a hard time putting it down. As for favorites, I actually loved the entire Foundation Series, the Hechee Saga and for something different James Hogan's Inherit the Stars books.
Whether you agree with a USA company taking off for Memorial day is irrelevant. Get over it, or do not buy the game.
Can you install the beta and still run the latest production DA? Thanks
While playing my last game the Altarians were at war with the Dregin for several turns. In one turn the Alterains are made peace and then restarted the war, all within the same turn. Odd
About every 3-4th session that boot up and play DA I encounter a problem on my laptop where it the screen blinks, goes to the blue screen of death with a dump of text and promptly reboots the laptop before I have a chance to read the text. I am not sure if there are logs that I can provide but thought I would mention the problem here. I have a Dell Lattitude D620 running Windows XP Pro with 1 gig or memory. Thanks
anyone?
In a great article by Brad he mentions that he likes to watch the game play all by itself while he was developing the AI. Truth be told, I think that would be a cool thing to do as well especially if you can stop it, look around at what the various civs are doing etc. Does anyone know if this "feature" exists for us folks? Thanks
A easy question I am sure. I am aware of where my saved games are stored and I have moved them around between computers before. But I have two questions: 1. what about my custom designed ships, can those be moved as well? What if I forget to move them and just move the saved game file? 2. can I love metaverse games around or will cause it to be flagged or something as cheating? Thanks in advance.
Question about the game. In the review it mentions that the first part of the saga is included. Is that the case? Thanks!
Looks good, I will try out the demo. Big draw for me (other than a good game) is the no-CD and licensing model of Stardock. Thanks
Well, I think that some people will ask you : Are you allowed to launch a game downloaded with Steam if you are offline as you can do with SDC exactly....
The whole serial number thing is a non-issue really. Stardock is the absolute coolest developer in taking care of their customer and not assuming the world is out to screw them. They make a great game too! Thanks
I might like it once patched given that I liked SE-IV. But I will not buy it given the fact that I have to use Steam.
Wait, I switched servers and it healed itself I think. It is now extracting installation files.
For reasons I would rather not go into, I decided to uninstall and re-install the game onto my laptop. Uninstall went fine. I went to SDCentral and select GalCiv2 to install (it told me it had to install other parts as well, movies, tutorials, etc). Next it gets to the point of downloading gc2.sdc, it downloads it 100% then starts to download it again. It does this over and over and over. I think it is broke, what is the problem with it? Thanks
Anyone have any idea how often, if ever, other parts (movies, multimedia, etc) of GalCiv2 are updated? Does a regular Stardock Central update those as well or just the critical game parts? Thanks
I saw in the wiki how to enable cheats and the key combo (ctrl+shift+z) to enable autoplay but it does not seem to do anything. I know cheats are enabled because the ctrl+m adds 10000 bc. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong? Thanks
I posted this originally in GalCiv2 forum, I reckon it is too late to get this included in a patch set for that game, but maybe this one could address the issue: When another races approaches me and offers to trade techs it would be nice to see my current tree to determine if what they are offering is a useless prereq. to something I have already. I guess I should remember but....
is there a proper place to make this suggestion?

Sitting there real time taking turns would be stupid actually. The only way I could see MP working with this type of game is like it does with Space Empires, where it still is a TBS but you play by email via the web or some such thing. Of course it still takes weeks/months to play a game but it works. PS - off topic, but how does one get the little icons at the end of their message?
Your correct, thanks for the quick response.
I am confused. I try to upgrade an existing ship design and I loose all the component that were associated with it. What gives? Thanks
