Interesting post.[e digicons]:star:[/e] Playing as the Terrans almost exclusively I have not noticed this scaling until late in the game. I must admit that I do use Tech Trading and Tech brokering throughout the game and that by midway most of the races are pretty even tech wise unless I have not been trading with them. The races I have not been trading with seem to concentrate their research on weapons to the exclusion of all else so that by end game they are powerful attack wise but

Thanks Kyro any news is better than no news but in the meantime it might behove Brad to think about giving us a modicum of his time. We are also the customers who will BUY a new game based on how the older games performed over time. Taken into consideration that many of us are going into withdrawl by not getting into metaverse is one thing, not being worth the Boss's time is another altogether and will hurt the bottom line way more in the long run. Still think GC2 is the best game out t

When attempting to login to metaverse from ToA start screen get the response "Metaverse returned an unrecognized response. Please try logging in at a later time." This is the first time this has happened and I have all current updates available from Stardock Central. Running Windows XP Pro with all service packs and updates, recently changed video cards but all other games and applications work fine and this issue has not affected game play just the ability to record games to

After playing a lot of games both on and off the metaverse I have only one major issue with an otherwise fantastic game. That is being notified when a Resource is located. Unless I micro manage my exploration/survey ships I am constantly surprised when a resource is suddenly being utilized by another race and it is in an area that my exploration/survey ships passed through but did not "find" anything. This lack of reporting makes it almost impossible to win an assenscion victory unles

[e classic];P[/e] After playing over 100 games to date trying your method just for S&G I have come to find that the ONLY way you could get that kind of planet was throgh either a hack or a mod.[e digicons]:banhammer:[/e] The very best planet I got out of those 100 games was a class 15 and had 4 boosts on it and the best was a 300% Research. Overall the best boost I saw was a 700% manufacturing and that happened exactly once. The majority of the immensense m

Pirates are survivable, Jagged Knife can be interesting, Peacekeeprers are a pain in the backside, but what what really gets my goat is after struggling to get peace throughout the Immense Galaxy and be at 70% for an influence victory to have some race that is almost of equal military size declare war for the flimsiest reason. Talk about frustrating, time consuming, and generally bad for business that happened not once but 3 times in my last game...then just when I thought everything was fina

Just finished a game as custom race and everything else set to random and wound up getting 2 PQ26 planets and a pq22 that needed no special research and a pq24 that needed water world, 4 pq19, 3 pq 18, 6 pq 17, 3 pg 16 and 8 pq15, plus a ton of lesser but above pq8 planets. Very few needed special research. The short fall was that the best tile bonus was a 300% manufacturing on 2 worlds and 3 300% research tiles on 3 others. Overall still made for a nice game and something I haven't seen befo

Until mid game letting the auto design feature build war ships is ok but after that it becomes better to custom build a ship that takes advantage of the AI's tendency to build fleets of the same attack/defense types. By building a fleet of custom ships that cover a wider spectrum of attack/defense I need fewer fleets and can build an incredible number of HP's by doing this. But again this is by personal choice not a perfect solution.

Used TS only twice so far all other times they get voted to be banned. In both cases where I used them it was to take out an enemies home system. In each case they surrendered almost immediately afterwards. I rush built them after luring most of their fleets away from that system making it possible to be effective. True I was of sufficent military strength to slug it out but I was getting a bit fed up with the continual warfare to capture a few planets then wait to rebuild my fleets and

Loupdinour you probably are wondering how I got this far if I am showing a lot of questions regarding how the races/game interacts with the player and I must admit all of my wins to date have been because I persue a Diplomatic Victory usually as the Terrans. So I am expanding my gameplay by playing as other than human and so far it is proving a whole lot more difficult in TOA than DL was. I am really enjoying all the tweaks etc and still feel that it is the BEST single player game out there.

Just a thought but perhaps a bit of a breakdown of each race that touches on their super abilities and how they can be utilized to the fullest.

Question that bothers me since it has happened every time I have played against the Terrans. They are the worst Super Diplomats ever and while supposedly neutral they act more evil that even the Korath, Drengi, Yor, Korx or Dread Lords. They refuse to trade unless it is at an outrageous advantage to them, they colonize everything that is even remotely habitable and will demand tribute at about a once every 3 months time frame. The only way they will agree to an alliance is if they are

As stated by inches I wish the evil races were so slow to expand. In my games the evil races are usually knocking on planets in my area of influence often before I even know a planet is there that can be colonized without special research. I usually play immense and normal with everything else set to random with 3 or 4 other races.

Loupdinour I think you may the right of it. So the game will use custom races as part of its iteinary when the random race selection is selected. How odd still because I deleted? the old Sapians race as not being competative enough as a custom player race. Until you mentioned it I had completely forgetten about them from back in the beta days. Thanks everybody for your replies.

Looking forward to all improvements and beta and GCIII when ever it is released. Please, Please no multiplayer if it detracts in any way from the SP version. SP is the only way I play which is what makes this game the best of the best. So please no multiplayer.

Well my 2 cents are: 1)Make the Korx true space merchants and have the option as a Super Ability...More trade routes open to them, seperate trade types, good, evil, or neutral. 2)Paradise planets...galactic showcase planet that boosts tourism economy, morale, and influence. 3)Minor races that become vassals or allies with limits on what they can or cannot do without your assistance. 4)Ability to use diplomacy to break an AI alliance other than through

Just ran into a Super Race called the Sapains!!!! They research tech faster than anything, have ships that move up to 5 times faster than what they should be capable of, and seem to be able to research more than one tech at a time. What gives. They went from having no special colinazation to being able to colonize any planet in 4 weeks! They apparently researched this because none of the other civs had any kind of special colonization until after the Sapains did. They cr

In all but one case I met all the other races in the first year, the one case where I didn't I still got the at war from one of the other three. The Purple suns have, in all of the DL games I played and all of the TA betas, had a PQ18 or better planet in the system regardless of where the purple sun was located. The standard yellow suns seem to have the normal placement of planets with some worth more than others regardless of their location. I reported the disappearing ships b

Man you should see the Korx in my games, make the Drengi, Korath, and Dread Lords look like cupcakes. Usually last race to fold in my games and like to be sneaky little sobs as well, kept pushing the drengi to attack me, all the while keeping our relations at warm. Now its kill on sight the minute they start acting hinkey.

This has happened three times now and is rather odd. Playing as Humans with the Altarians, Korx, Drengi, and Arcerans. The 2nd or 3rd race I initially encounter immediately states that a state of war exists between us and while some quick trading will usually bring a peace treaty, it doesn't always work. Took over two years to reach a peace treaty on one occasion. The next issue regards the purple suns that usually have a high PQ planet as part of its solar system. In every game

For the curious Yes I have an extensive military background although I am no longer in the military. This does however explain my sometimes prolonged delays in working on the story so please bear with me. My current employment is diplomatic/military related and nuff said.

Sorry been gone for awhile but work before pleasure and all that. It also appears that the story line is in the middle of a drastic change thanks to my wifes accidental? deletion of my game files saved on my hard drive. Thankfully I make a backup tape of my hard drive every couple of days...unfortunatly my last back up was prior to staring this thread. Cest la vie. I will attempt to pick up without too many miscues from where I left off. The radiation refered to in China is more common

Side Notes 1)The asteroid field is listed as being a seperate area of space however its proximity to Mars is the reason behind the name. 2)The device found on the moon is not a hyper drive motor but it is used to design an effective hyperdrive engine. The anti-matter generators main purpose appears to be the creation of nano sized black holes with opposing polarities which create massive amounts of usable energy. 3) I used this History in a short story I wrote back in the late 70's
