The Starbases having single purpose is my only concern. Building a generalized starbase that has all of the abilities of Influence, Economy, and Military makes a bit more sense in some ways. Building specific bases would require more time and credits and increase their effect range over the generalized bases. IE: A generalized base would have a single trade module only but an economy base would have all the trade modules. All your other ideas have great potential and hopefully will be incorporat

Reinstall your sound card drivers and also if u r using any kind of mp3 player docking station unplug it. when i did the above it solved all the problems i was having with the direct x causing the same kind of problems u r showing.

WHILE PLAYING JUST HAD AN ODD OCCURANCE. Gigantic map with 8 other civs random minor races and playing as custom race with super diplomat special ability. At present have recieved two civs planets when they were defeated. the Altarians after about 1 and 1/2 years and recieved 8 planets and 1 fighter. Well depending on the distance and how fast your ships can go try this...it worked for me in a similar event...use your closest planet to the pirates and take a medium hull and cram as much speed as you can on it. When it is ready launch it towards the most unoccupied area of space or the drengin empire. you should be able to lure them away from your main area by staying just a couple of moves ahead of them. this will allow you time to build a fleet that is capable of slugging it out with the pi

I like all the numbers guys but this balanced fleet of mine took out 21 all attack fleets. 2 huge hulls each with 14 armor 14 point 10 sheild and using 2 phasors/2 nano rippers/2 photon torpedos. versus 9 large hulls using mass drivers and plasma weapons. These 21 fleets were all stacked in 3 different groups of seven each. My total damage recieved was a mere 14 hp total one ship had 8hp the other 6hp of damage. Well using a balanced batch of defence and weapons seems to work better on the gigantic maps...no matter what size hull is used. Point being the Dread Lords made a surprise appearance early in my current game and decimated most of the other AI ships that used lots of weapons but no defense. The survivors all had balanced ships and/or stronger defense. After playing DA for 5 straight days now, I am inpressed with everything except the Trade feature. I was hoping that DA would allow for more trade routes especially for the civ that is a trade civ. Any chance that this might be changed in the near future would be awesome.
