Sometimes the rally points appear to be blocked by either a planet or a starbase causing the ships not to see the rally point in question. A simple check to one side or the other is often enough to get the ship moving. Check also that you have the latest update as their was a bug reported in an earlier release regarding ships not moving as fleets to rally points and or destinations.
Follow up to above, due to constant haressment from hostile events/invaders taking back worlds is almost impossible as AI takes advantage of relocation of ships to attack a former planet held by the Jagged Knife by invading the planet that sends the troop ship(s). In this case it is the Thallian Horde that keeps up the invasions.
While the math adds up, the random factor does seem to play more of a role when the total HP of the two ships/fleets are the same. I have seen this happen more often than not especially in late game combat. Also very mixed fleets of one major weapon type per ship and mixed defense seem to win more often. IE 3 ship fleet 1 ship all gun, 1 ship all missile, 1 ship all beam with each ship having defense of 2/2/2. Also side note when combat screen is not used their does seem to be a few tim
Currently playing a gigantic map with everything set to random, 6 other races, on normal conditions, and I am playing as Human. The other races are the Thallian...Yor...Korx...Altarian...Drengii...and the Drath. From the very begining I noticed that the other races seemed to be acting odd. The case in point as follows. 1)Thallian are VERY agressive and attacking everybody...and winning more often than not. 2) Yor are not just isolationist...they kill any ship that
Just flat AWESOME
Bravo Bravo very very good...some parts made shivers race up and down my spine! Keep up the excellent Dialog
Towards the end of the Altarian Campaign a secret meeting was held to discuss the potential use of a "Death Station" as a final resort should the Terrans open the worm hole discovered that lead to the Dread Lords existing universe. After heated discussions between the various factions it was determined that such a measure was too impractical and untested to be of use, it was however leaked to the Terrans as a propaganda measure to further their desire to capitulate. Taken from the personal j
As stated in the above threads the ideas will work to keep the game interesting but you seem to find the infrastructure frustrating and it can be...try adjusting the sliders to achieve a balance that best fits what you are trying to do. I use a higher research value of 40% for the first part of the game and let the military and social sliders each stay at 30%...this gives me faster access to various techs without hurting my ship or planet building capabilities. Also while it seems trivial the m
also consider that when you achieve soil enhancement and upwards u can upgrade that pq7 to a pq9 or better so the question then becomes what is better for ur planet/empire. a well defended planet on the edge of ur empire or a highly productive planet deep in ur own territory, kind of spells out the best use of planet defense stratergies.
It is possible to have an eco and or research treaty from all of the other races but you can only give one of each. In my current game i have an eco treaty from each of the other races and a research treaty from all but one of them. I have an alliance with all but one of the races. The higher your diplomacy and influence skills are make it easier to obtain those treaties and or alliances. Also having the ability to quickly convert from peace time to war time production will ensure that any race
Welcome aboard hickers/hikers/hackers and slackers. HHGG For short and While in the top 200 of the Meta verse with the HCH I enjoy all races equally...The beef is good and the dolphin extra fishy...so have fun and run with it until you reach the edge of the Known Galaxy then be careful out there you are in Deep doodoo then.
If you want fast go Influence and Warfare as a combo, If you want slow then try just Influence. It is all a matter of personal choice. Mine is whatever works at the time but for the most part I seem to run more towards a Neutral Influence win over all others but there are those times when simply killing everything is the most fun way to go...gotta luv the YOR for that.
With so many good ideas it would seem that GC will be around for a long time as the developers implement some of them into the game and/or somebody does their own mod using the guidelines expressed. My opinion not withstanding it makes a lot of sense regarding stable wormholes that are usable by any ship and a few larger ones that will allow a fleet to utilize. My own imput would be along the lines of a Carrier type ship that is capable of hauling smaller size ships. IE a large or huge hull fitt
ALWAYS go with universilists myself they cover just about everything and then a few points to tech and military means for a fairly balanced eco and mil without losing your butt on the tech race...also very handy for those elections that help in the late stages of looonnnggg games.
In the game I just finished a rather odd occurance happened that was rather surprising in that this is the first time I have every had it happen. Playing as the Terrans I was facing the Drengi along a fairly stable line until suddenly they started colonizing worlds that required one of the heavy research techs...but according to their tech ability they had only researched as far as extreme colonization. Inconvient for me at the time but due to the fact that they were doing this around ares where
Taken as a part of the whole your analysis is right however you must remember that each race has different and unique starbase guidelines while still maintaining a generic flavor. Overall the whole idea of starbase construction is that they are expensive but often needed devices for any civilization. I have found that the best bang for your buck is the influence starbase due to its ability to increase your civs percieved value of its goods, its relationship with your neighbors and it has quite a
Consider also that some planets overall quality is so poor that other than being used as a target for military bombing it is not economicly feasable to utilize them.
Thanks for the responsies and I also think it is the best game out there bar none. It is the only game I have on my laptop so I can play no matter where I am. While I play mainly Meta games I have one that I have been playing for over 2 months that is non-meta and involves all the races the AI can handle and is just about the most difficult game I have ever played at a normal level. So on to victory and as the Terrans say "While second is nice you still lost".
Very normal and while improving your initial planet is ok it is better to buff out other areas mainly because over time your planet will improve with research you do. My personal choices are to improve my military building, trade, social building, research ability and diplomat. The others I more or less leave as they are...but I usually persue a political victory. Everyone finds what works for them so just have fun and try a bunch of different stratigies until you find the one you like best. Th
I have had the PeaceKeeper event twice now and in one case they left me alone and in the other they took my ships apart until I reached a stage where I could go toe to toe with them then they just vanished. In the first event I was listed as a Good empire and in the second I was listed as an Evil empire...In both cases the PKs went after the evil empires but ignored the Good empires and only went after war ships of neutral empires. Maybe your alignment determines how the PKs respond in their inv
How do you get a racial victory or victories. I have played over 25 meta games as the humans and have never lost. Any help would be appreciated.
After 25 plus games I have noticed that the more combat you engage in the higher the overall score. While I prefer a more peaceful roll my wins are always lower in score when I do so without engaging in warfare to achieve a political victory. When warfare is used to gain a political victory the score is always higher. Is it just me or is the game squed to reflect a more hostile enviroment is preferable to obtain a victory?
Do it right...a later release will make for a better all around game...which is what i love about the game so far. The updates just keep getting better and better. I will pre-order and look for the new release in January.
