i also like the event for how huge it makes the galaxy feel. space is a really BIG place and tech can certainly make it seem smaller, but its still really, really BIG, and the event makes the game feel epic, even when your not playing a huge map
drakonfire
Hint: Scroll to the right. huh?
hey're precious resources (or mining such) but military starbases should not be... or maybe add another type of SB, Fortress, and don't allow it to give ships any bonuses, but let it be a major powerhouse in a sector
congrats, you guys deserve it
I believe my friend has that exact same chipset and he runs it just fine
it should yell at you automatically that an update is available. if not you need to change your settings, Tools-->Settings-->Genereal tab, and select the appropriate check boxes for it to alert you when a new version of an installed application is available. Next you should be able to go to the Games section of SDC, and update DA manually from there (it will show you your currently installed version and the currently available version) i've never done it manually before, but I imagine its not to
but the fact that you would have to attack more lightly defenders planets would make a difference, if your empire starts getting picked up, you can up your production on key worlds, bunch of your ships, and then focus on directing one or two fleets to defend your space, letting your fleeted ships defend planets, instead of directed a couple of fleets around and checking your borders every turn to see if you have missed an enemy fleet that you need to manually take care of (really, really tiresom
you know, that thing has never bugged me before? usually I ignore it and crush the race in a couple of years, or I ally with them
I've heard this of this happenin before... I don't think Manipulations would make a race go to war with you with you for a false reason like that... maybe a false reason, but not one that EVERYONE can see is false.
my support for this motion is hereby added. I understand that it is unrealistic to expect your ships to all be in the same place at the right time when a surprise attack is launched, but even with warp drive it is insanely hard to pull off an effective planetary assault due to gravity wells and such. the defenders would have enough warning to fleet up, and thee invading fleet would not risk going around them for fear of being picked off from above (the absolute space superiority mechani
I thought I noticed this in the beta with a pirate mega-event, but soon my ships outclassed their's and I forgot about it... Kryo have we got any comment from our coding geniuses yet? i'm beginning to think this is a real bug and not all in our heads
I live in the midwest and got my pre-ordered DA only disc about a week ago...
I have only played SEIII, but it was way fun, however, the AI was not all that spectacular, and everything I have read about SE V says the same thing. it has AMAZING customization, but the game has gone through 5 iterations and i think over a decade of development... I think when GC III comes out, we'll see even more simplified complexity as we currently do in DA... I mean think about it, DA expanded the tech tree significantly with the implementation of different planet types and mines. What if
the current WINEX emulator that is best for games is Cedega... my only experience with it was that I got the GCII demo to install, but not play, probably due to the fact that I had an onboard video card, and linux didn't detect the OpenGL support the board claimed to have, So i couldn't get the game to work, if you have a decent video card you might try the demo and see if it will work... and if you don't want to pay for Cedega, I will be happy to send you a copy (their license allows me to dist
lol just trying to ask the difficulty setting lol! wow, i must have been tired when I read your first post... can't believe I didn't see that
w00t! i have something to add to my watchlist again.... looking forward to it!
the missing polygon may just be a corrupt graphic from your install, its been known to happen, take a look at your debug.err or post it here to see if there is any mention in it of a graphic not found, etc. as to the graph... i think I noticed that too... but hey, it doesn't affect anything except the prettiness of the game, so i'm inclined to ignore it
I think it comes down to a matter of style personally... I am still trying to figure mine out, right now though I play custom for each map I play... small all vic conditions off (except conquest) i go with a military + research bonus civ, bigger maps dictate different circumstances... is tech trading on or off? if i'm gonna play a predefined race though, it would be the Yor... i've never paid attention to their tech bonuses, but I like the super isolationist... I also like super manipul
If you have MS Word you might try the Compare+Merge function (does Word open XML's? *shrug* if not you could convert them to .txt via notepad, merge them, and then resave as an xml i suppose)
But when I've read about taxes at 80% with planets at 11B without single morale building, I tried that approach, and will be using it until the game mechanics changes see that is just absurd to me... no population no matter how "entertained" could stand for that kind of universal tax rate, what good is the best entertainment in the universe if I have no money with which to buy it?!
I think number of trade routes should be relative to the size of galaxy... just an idea
what kind of video-card do you have? nvidia 64 meg doesn't help, is it a geforce 2, 3, 4... etc? it if is older it probably doesn't support some of the advanced directx 9 requirements of the game... even though the game will still run, if the card only supports directx 7 or something, you're gonna be shy on some of the eye-candy and here is a silly question, you were playing DA right?
Blue... i nearly can guarantee you that you won't miss it... just jack the AI up and see if you do
oh boy... if your mobo is old you might need more money to just completely upgrade your system, sad fact of mobo's i don't have the time to go into it, but it might be worth just waiting a while longer to get more money and then do a complete revamp of your system, as it is not a slacker in any department (as a temp fix you might consider grabbing another half gig of RAM) also if your
