probably because vista sucks more ram and for the record, i was still using W2K until about 3 months ago, so i have no intention of upgrading to vista for some time
drakonfire
I just played through the game last night with a friend of mine, he was about 2 or 3 hours in when i joined at about 10:30... 6 hours later, after about 10,000 bullets per gun and too many deaths to count, we beat the game, and while i had some minor gripes, they were just that, minor, the game is indeed "frackin' awesome" - though i can see how it could get too frantic for some... the frenetic pace just made it that much more addictive to me, that "one more check-point" mentality that made me s
*wimpering noise made at lack of money* hmmm... I have some technologically inclined relatives, perhaps I could get one of them to pre-order it for me
one question, why only 9 reaces to select from? i thought all 12 would be playable... or did this change somewhere along the line?
honestly, please tell me you guys have seen V for Vendetta... thats where i first learned about the 5th of november, and that rhyme, great movie btw
hmmm, while interesting, i agree they are impractical, not to mention these ideas kinda shoot GalCiv in the foot, it is a TBS, many of us who play it are jaded RTSers, so to slap in a half-arsed RTS game inside of a beloved TBS would kinda hurt the game, and i know you said optional, but i really don't think it could be optional and keep the game balanced, especially if they decide to havve a multiplayer component no, no death star, a death star design, sweet (wait, i think i've seen on
really not all that shocking to cook an egg on a heatsink, especially for 3 processors, heck, if you try and start up a modern processor without the heatsink, it will turn off within 7 seconds because it will reach the temperature threshhold that fast (and i mean 140 celcius) so slap a big enough heatsink on that sucker and you could cook your food easily random factoid, water boils at 1.8 Ghz... now figure i'm running a dualcore 1.83... yeesh hey i'm thirsty *wanders off to ge
welcome to the game! i'm still relatively new myself, and this game is definitely right up your ally if you are a MoO fan
that seems to be about on par with a good friend of mine, and his system runs it just fin (very little eyecandy, but hey, that stuff is just bonus anyway) - still good idea to download the demo though
is it possible that they were at war with the Arceans to begin with (or another race) and not conquering you was the icing on the cake that told them they were screwed? and IRT Mongoose: how far back were your transports? it seems to me they have to be pretty dang close or else you run the risk of losing the planets via surrender
uhhh... changelog please?
maybe instead of one question a year the UP should have 3 or 5... i mean honestly, the leaders of the great races of the universe meet together once a year, whether they are at war or not, just to vote on ONE question?
the ship thing taking to long gives me an idea about MP... for whenever it happens (i am perfectly happy with the single player experience especially as i sometimes go a week or so without being able to play a turn) what if once multiplayer was implemented they implemented a new main menu selection, "Ship Editor" this would take you into a basic setup screen where you would choose race hull type and miniturization level, once you had done that you would then be launched into the standard ship ed
its a good idea, and i think someone has brought this up before... if i recall correctly their idea was to have each race be able to submit the thing up for vote once every X number of years (X being equivalent to how many races were playing) I.E. if you had 9 opponents, once every ten years you would get to submit a question (if you didn't kill a race off before then) personally i like the idea of every once in a while being able to influence what is up for grabs in the UP
personally i try not to be the instigator in anything, i'll just make myself mildy annoying until the computer gets ticked, demands something or other and when i refuse they threaten me, rinse and repeat till they get hacked off enough to declare war on me, by now i have at least one ally whos territory i am not butting up against and the aggressive empire falls with myself inherting about 2/3rds of their planets at least thats how it has worked the couple of games i have been able to p
IMO, the balance issue is there but not quite to the point that it seems i agree that it makes sense for capitol ships to be able to fire on multiple ships, but perhaps this would unbalance the game... think about it like this in star wars, capitol ships (AKA star destroyers) were big lumbering beasts that no fighter wanted to take on themselves, but you get a squad together, and the capitol ships don't have the guns to take them out because the fighters are so dang small, in the star w
one thing i would really like to see in the UP is the ability to speak to the other races before a vote to see which way they are leaning, maybe bargain to gain their vote in your favor, because right now it feels like a crapshoot as to whether or not you get what you vote for, and seriously, shouldn't the smaller influence civs be able to tear a vote away from the larger civs with cooperation? this would be possible with the ability to discuss a resolution before voting on it... maybe announce
if you want an interesting time at not to high a difficulty level, for my first game i completed i played at normal difficulty, with star systems spread out, not in clusters, a small map, and 9 opponents, with 10 races duking it out, it didn't take long for there to be a war (drengin got wiped out in the first 3 years of gametime) and eventually it devolved into war, peace, war, peacce, war, war war war war... and then i won <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0
thanks for the advice guys, i'll tinker around and see what works for me
Hi, I'm relatively new to this game, i purchased it a couple of months ago, and then about a week later got the hardware to run it. Anyway, with my sophomore year of college absolutely killing me i have not been able to play a complete game until just recently. First I would like to congratulate the devs on a steller game. and having only played version 1.3, I have no complaints regarding the update. anyway, all that is un-important, being a newb I figure I should see how well I did.<br
