I believe someone (probably kryo) posted about that sort of tech tree idea, if you were thinking of doing it as a tech that required two others before it. Whoever it was said that it might not work, so if you were to do something like that you might have to pick which tech tree branch you added it too I would like to see the dread-lords be an actual super race as well, though it is hard to tell if this is possible or might unbalance the game just my 2 cents

you might be forced to use the developer version because sometimes laptop manufacturers like to force people to use their driver. I have a dell with a Geforce 7300 Go and I cannot use Nvidia's driver's, I have to use Dell drivers (ANNOYING!) because dell has hardcoded something into it. That might be why the self-installer as a hard time locating your chipset, it might be programmed not to.

It sounds to me almost like eyou are describing a bigger, better, more massive version of Majesty. Majesty was an RTS game where all you did was designate which buildings to build and which unit to recruit, after that what they did was up to them! you could offer bounties to slay certain monsters or explore certain areas of the map, but it was quite fun. Unfortunately the AI was not that great, and the missions got old quickly after you beat them. There was going to be a Majesty II, but

Hmm... Freespace though... (looks longingly at his Saitek X45 sitting in the corner...) http://www.freespacezone.com/ http://www.hard-light.net/ come back to the darkside.... nah J/k. For me freespace is a good stress reliever when I need to pull a trigger instead of clicking a button

news flash; Local forum readers complained today that they really have no idea as to the level of difficulty involved in running the galactic empire. Rumors have been thrown around suggesting anything from 'cakewalk' to 'masochistic'. wth? Colin: I like your narrative style. keep it up

I find Asteroids to be most useful in times of war, when I can jack a planets military production way up and divert all roids to that one planet, I started pumping out ships very fast, without having to outright buy them

you sure you werent GIVING them away? that would just make my day for a good laugh but seriously, if this is new in DA it needs to be fixed or else metaverse will be perma-screwed in the next week, and i haven't even been able to get on it yet! (my own fault for not having any time)

While the books aren't spectacular, I recently read the Halo trilogy (and am now reading Ghosts of Onyx) and they are pretty darn good, not many epic space battles, but they are fairly fast reads and fun to boot.

Is it okay that when you said GTA my first thought was "but this is Galciv, not Freespace!"

thats the problem, they DID plan for the time they THOUGHT would be necessary to finish it, but it turned out to need a lot more time... no one had (or has) ever done this before, so they had nothing with which to gauge how long this would take... it will most likely get done, it just couldn't be by final commercial release, but heck, they updated DL 4 different times (major updates anyway) so perhaps before 2.0 we will see the Epic Generator.

oh dang, i remember hearing this explained elsewhere, especially for updates, i think that in fact might be what the archive tool is for - you might try a search real quick kryo, help!

I really don't think its a question of whether or not anyone's processor can handle it, i think its more a question of how long you are willing to wait on the computer opponents to make their move.

It will include a $10 rebate for owners of the retail version of GC2 so it will end up costing approximately the same as the DA-only version that is available direct. kryo... you guys continue to have my undying admiration for your customer service.

so your serial does meet all the requirements kryo mentioned above? and when you input it into the proper box following the "register" link below you get an error that it is not a legit code? you are inputing it without dashes and without spaces, right? weird have you tried to download the update/register through stardock central? I wonder if that might work for some odd reason when it doesn't elsewhere. Kryo, any other ideas?

Currently Linux is on a roll and with Vista this will get a great boost. i would love to believe this, I could even almost believe it if I hadn't been burned by the hope so many times. the fact of the matter is linux is not yet viable for the average user. until someone simplifies the system down to the level of windows or mac "click this bu

it does, you just have to double tap it sometimes as to GCII running under linux, i would assume that yes it does. I got the demo to install with Cedega just fine, but it wouldn't run, most likely because I had a built in gfx card on that machine and through emulation it lost all its slim chance of running any 3d games (was great for Fallout though!) seriously, check cedega out, www.cedega.com and just FYI, Cedega supports many windows games, including but not limited

Why did no one freak out when Brad mentioned Dominions 3? "OMG!!! BRAD WANTS HIS COMPANY TO GO UNDER BECAUSE HE IS PROMOTING BUSINESS AWAY FROM STARDOCK!!!!" where was that reaction? we all applauded his guts to advertise for a 'competing' game that he liked, why the heck is his comment on Vista any different EXCEPT for the fact that it is MS? MS has played dirty and won, and they are are reaping the benefits, but before you cry "rape" re-read that post about intellectual right

okay, first things first, stop bashing SD, please for the love of all that is good in the world of gaming, stop it. They are are an honest bunch of people and probably some of the most respecting of their customers i have ever encountered, this is not fair to them, or to your intelligence, stop and think for a second. okay second to all the people saying that everytime you upgrade your hardware you have to by a new license (okay, every second time you upgrade) would you READ for a chang

I highly recommend AVG free... i have also heard that avast is good, but it sometimes gets in the way of things (specifically my friend was running an FTP and periodically after avast had updated itself it would shutdown the FTP progs access rights until he realized what was going on and reset it) definitely don't have to go the paying route, and in some cases *coughMcCafeecoughNortoncough* the paying route is worse... the only thing you get is extra system tools, which you can also fin

the extreme AI might be interesting, if only to satisfy the 'hardcore' who have 'mastered' the game (but lets wait until we see the completed DA AI before making this judgment) my personal list? 1. epic generator 2. more starbase weapon improvments 3. more streamlined starbase upgrade system
