well, I noticed that when you first colonize a planet, and it has indeginous population, the evil choice is to enslave them, and under that choice it gives the bonus (+43% in the one instance I remember) that you would get by chosing the evil way.

I find myself wishing the AIs had racial ship design tendencies like Moo2 had... Like the Meklar all had huge hulls, miniaturizateion, autorepair, and missiles out the wazoo, The Alkari were all carriers and fightercraft swarms, etc.

It wouldnt be that hard to have a Game AI tailor its actions to a certain player, using a 'casefile' attached to the players name... Something like "Oh, its Calaban playing. The last three games he went heavy on mass driver weaponry exclusively, so I'll default to armor techs over others.. and he likes to leave new colonies undefended, so early troop transports would be a good strategy to employ" The documentation says that the advanced AI looks for all known human strategi

Does a planet population size increase do anything other than make your planet garrison larger. Basically does a class 12 planet packed full of factories but only 5 billion people produce the same # of shields as the same planet with 12 billion? I have a suspicion that population indeed affects income, so I wont ask about that... But, kind of on the subject, does Economy bonuses affect just money, or all resources, like Economy starbase upgrades?

So then I've been using influence bases wrongly then? Ive assumed so far that they worked to amplify your homeworlds influence 'resource', and that the overall bubble of your influence border is just overlapping individual planetary circles. But I guess this is wrong?? I guess gamewise it makes more sense to build a marketing and advertizing starbase in orbit over an enemy world so as to better... influence them! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif" border=0

I've had pirates do what pirates DO in one of my very first games... not facing the Imperial Navy, but attacking freighters. And attack freighters they did! Frigate hulls are perfectly fine for this, since presumably a frigate can outrun and elude a Navy Battleship, yet still be armed well enough to raid a few freighters here and there.

Although I have yet to figure out rally points at ALL.... I'm pretty sure theres a way to have a shipyard set a waypoint for a specific starbase, then let it do its thing! periodically, the constructor would arrive on its own and ask if youd like to upgrade. When you see the base is as kitted out as you want or full, set the shipyard rally point to a new base. While its not perfect, it would eliminate a lot of the micromanagement.

I've done some foum and wiki searching, but cant find any info on either of my two current questions... questions that bug me because I have no idea how they work in the game, and may be entirely missing out on something kewl. On to the questions: 1: Military Starbase "ship assist" upgrades (Example: Missile Launch Pad- ship assist (missiles) +1). how do they work? I'm guessing that maybe any ship of yours under its area of effect gets the bonus in any battles occuring in that area

Heres how I killed everyone: A Class 10 planet had 24 million people on it, they were overpacked and understantably unhappy about it. What fed all these people was a single Tile of +300% food, with a xeno farm on it, and the colony tile (giving me 29 MT of grain/week and even more room to grow, not bad for one tile). So.. being the responsible ruler I dissasembled the Xeno Farm, planning on juggling my food stocks to maintain the level I've got and not grow anymore. Tha

[update] Well, I found out what it was... it was McAfee 'security center' mucking everything up. Disabling the virusblocker didnt help, but uninstalling the whole darn thing did! Grrr! I'm not sure who to be annoyed at: McAfee and its settings on a new computer, or GalCiv guys for making their installer behavior look too suspicious for McAfee to allow. Honestly, I've never seen an installer cause such a fit from an antivirus program! <img src="http://images.st

I just got a new computer, and, after reading some reviews, ran out and got this game! BUT now I'm having some serious trouble! As the title states, as soon as I hit "Install Game", the CD drive spins up, then nothing happens! The Drive will continue to spin at full speed, and nothing short of opening the drive will stop it. In fact, Everything freezes/locks up until I remove the drive! Task manager (if opened before starting the
