Pirates ohhhhhh

My urrrr god knows how many games and I came across a random event stating that pirates were now attacking everywhere. This is not to be confused with the prison break event.

Ohhhh I thought, send out scouts with sensors, defend everything with large fleets. But...no pirates. After the posts about killer pirate fleets I felt a bit cheated. Maybe someone else killed them.

i managed to spot them before the torians fragged them in one go. they're a bit meiocre if you ask me.

it was a fleet of three medium frigates with okay weopons, but the AI's and i were floating through space with fleets of battleships. no contest.

I receive some message like that too.

I just can't find the pirates, I hope they would be more, they could even control small planet with limited quality and population. Hehe

I've had pirates do what pirates DO in one of my very first games... not facing the Imperial Navy, but attacking freighters. And attack freighters they did!

Frigate hulls are perfectly fine for this, since presumably a frigate can outrun and elude a Navy Battleship, yet still be armed well enough to raid a few freighters here and there.

Never seen a pirate in any games i have played. Except for me of course, i love blowing those frieghters to bits

Pirates can be very nasty. But they usually don't move very far from where they spawn. So if they spawn out in the middle of nowhere, they'll never bother anybody.

Consider yourself Lucky. I caught pirates killing my my frieghters along a trade route so I sent a fleet of 3 Medium Cruisers to take them out. My fleet was killed almost instantly. The pirates I encountered had 2 Battleships, and a whole wack of frigates with high lvl defenses and weaponry. I just let them be and changed the trade route rather than waste resources trying to kill their super fleet.

Ya, if you don't wipe them out early they get very nasty. They seem to have some good espianage skills, because they can upgrade weapons, defenses and logistics like crazy. I have seen them with 50-60 ships in a single fleet, with the attack and hitpoints in the thousands. It seemed that whenever i got to a new tech level, they were right there, only with more ships than I could get into my fleet even with the highest logistics techs.

I have not seen them that powerful in a long while now, though. Maybe because I destroy them as soon as they appear or they have been toned down in the latest versions.
