Installer locks up, CD drive locks up computer!

I just got a new computer, and, after reading some reviews, ran out and got this game!

BUT now I'm having some serious trouble! As the title states, as soon as I hit "Install Game", the CD drive spins up, then nothing happens! The Drive will continue to spin at full speed, and nothing short of opening the drive will stop it. In fact, Everything freezes/locks up until I remove the drive!

Task manager (if opened before starting the installer) states that the program is no longer responding, and if I hit 'end task' it will try, but fail to actually do anything until I pop open the CD Drive....

I've tried disabling my virus program, firewall, etc. but nothing seems to stop this crash.

Note that every other button on the autorun window works fine, even the 'readme' button just below the 'install' button.

I'm out of ideas. The readme said that McAffe blocks scripting, but I have no idea how to disable or allow it, and my CD drive has a RAMMAST function, which may also be messing things up... So here I am, asking for help...

The exact same thing happend to me too. Never found out what was causing the problem, but to get around it I made an iso image of the CD (Link) and then mounted the image in a virtual CD-ROM using Daemon Tools (Link). The installation worked fine from there. I was able to use CD2 for the 2nd half of the installation without any problems, so you only need make an iso of CD1

Well, I found out what it was... it was McAfee 'security center' mucking everything up.

Disabling the virusblocker didnt help, but uninstalling the whole darn thing did!

Grrr! I'm not sure who to be annoyed at: McAfee and its settings on a new computer, or GalCiv guys for making their installer behavior look too suspicious for McAfee to allow. Honestly, I've never seen an installer cause such a fit from an antivirus program!

Anyways:problem solved, on to gaming!!
