Just bumping the post up, I know I shouldn't, but its like the whole team has vanished ever since we became an official mod team. Seriously everyone, don't abandon the project now. Join I-Mod and pm me with your screen name there, then I can tell the Admins to make you members of the team. After all we have done we can't just drop the project, we've committed ourselves.

I'm alittle suprised that no one mentioned David Chalker's Well of Souls series. It was someone here who told me about it, actually. I've only read the first book ( Midnight at the Well of Souls ), but its good, although the end is really depressing. I agree with a few of those mentioned above (I spent alot of time reading Tolkien and Clancy, so my SciFi roster is alittle light), like Asimov, Herbert, and Heinlein. P.S. I don't know why your all so hard on the S

I admit, I never came up with anything as creative as that I figured we'd make the Tokra have a really high Espionage bonus. I think we should give the Goa'uld an Espionage penalty, because they're terrible with internal security. I had some ideas concerning technologies, I'm going to begin altering the existing miniaturization techs and soldiering related techs. When I get my

But the Ori would replace the Dread Lords, and would not be playable. The idea is to put as many space faring civs in as is feasible. We are also considering the political side of the galaxy. Anubis, and even Sokar for that matter, was(were) not part of the System Lords. They were seperate entities that directly opposed the System Lords. That is why we wish to seperate Anubis and the System Lords. I believe that if they can build ships, they should be included as majors. T

I just told Stefan we'd like to be supported by I-Mod, when he gets back to me i'll give you further information. If you need some direction, I'd contact one of the members that posted here who know more about modeling, i.e. MrKorx. I believe GalCiv2 requires the models be in .x format. You may want to open up some of the existing models if you need an idea of the poly-count. Anyway, besides that you could play the game and open up the shipyard. You need to d

I don't believe we'll be able to get (completely) off foreign fuels for quite awhile. It'll help if we could get around the private interests that have been holding back human progress for the last century. The American Industrial Revolution brought into play massive corporations that spaned continents and technological advancement at unheard of rates. These massive corporations had the power, and motive, to hold back certain advancements until they could no longer profit from

If your looking for a good VATE (Value Added Text Editor, the ones that color the syntax) then check out TextPad. Its good for HTML/XML right out of the box, and if you have the Java SDK installed before you install TextPad it auto-detects the Java library and works for that too. Like Raknor said, don't use an IDE at first. Do it the hard way so you really know whats going on in the code. I suggest using Java and TextPad (or some other VATE). Do a console program or three, j

I think its rather silly that no one has built any custom Starbase models when its just as easy as makeing a ship model I'd give it a go, but I'm a programmer, not an artist.

I don't think that can be done. If GalCiv supported scripting then I'd say yes, with scripting anything can be done, or atleast faked. GalCiv doesn't support scripting, unfortunately, so it is impossible.

I didn't realize the work had begun! Send me your race ID's and I can build the race specific techs that correspond to each race specific Gate Terminal. (To have a race specific Gate Terminal you must create a tech that has a RaceID requirement, then make each Gate Terminal require the corresponding Tech.) We can hammer out the bonuses of each race's Gate Terminal later.

Actually, that reference is from StarCraft. I'm not old enough for Buck Rogers I had an idea, we could (along with MrKorx and our other friends here) get some help from the people at the GateWorld Virtual Fleet. They have some neat designs we could use. I don't think we'd use them all (some of them are alittle funny looking), but it'd fill in some of the gaps. MrKorx and other

I'm in a similarly boring galaxy. The only people who hate eachother are the Drengin and the Thalan, and thats because they share a small cluster of stars. Everyone else gets along (the races are: Drengin, Thalan, Terrans(they're really powerfull here), Korx, and Arceans) Everyone loves me, and they all love eachother. So I've begun a plan to crazify the galaxy. I'm nocking off the half-dozen or so minor races, allying with two of them because they are powerfull enough to bug an AI, to prim

I'm looking forward to it. My main concern is how badly they'll screw up the story. They made several key changes to the history of Azeroth in Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne that thoroughly enraged me. I was especially angry when they decided to make the Eredar and Dreanei the same species (ala, the Ori and Alterans). According to the histories in the Reign of Chaos manual the Eredar were imprisoned by Sargeras before he went psycho, then released and enslaved by Sargeras during his fi

I think they're going for an artistic style similar to WarCraft III and WoW. Besides this is still pretty early, and RTS games have never had the most phenominal of graphics anyway.

??? Do you mean DA or DL? I don't know, we could theoretically make it for DA and it would (mostly) work for DL, because the XML parser ignores any tags it doesn't recognize. Its likely we'd make it for DA, so we can use Super Abilities to enhance the uniqueness of each race that we will create with 'Gate Terminals.' Thats if this mod ever gets off the drawing board.

I've noticed it, but I haven't tried it. I know what you mean about real life, I have a major project in 3 classes, i'm behind in one of those and behind in a fourth class. Needless to say, this weekend will be very busy for me.

I doubt it would even be a whole percentage point (the time slowdown). The only thing we know about that planet is that its in the right place and it has an atmosphere. We also know that it orbits a Red Dwarf star, and is thus very cold, because Red Dwarfs don't provide much heat. Some scientists think it might hold frozen water, but they draw that conclusion on the scant knowledge we have about the way planets are formed. Other scientists prefer to wait until we have more in

I don't think it would be a good idea to have only one Starport in your entire empire. I'm pretty sure our Gate Terminal idea would work just fine. why feel in the hull types if the players want to fill in the hull types let them Your kidding right? If we don't fill in the hull types/sizes then some races won't be able to build ANY ships until they research medium or large hulls, THATS why. We should provi
