What I ended up with is my original serial number for GalCiv2, the gold box serial number for Dark Avatar, and the Twilight of the Arnor serial being used for TA. So I guess maybe someone else could install the gold box and use the serial for regular GalCiv? I dunno, I guess I'll have to contact support.

Well that kind of bites. Is TA a huge step over DA? Which is more fun to play non-campaign games in?
This really isn't a bug as such, but rather a licensing and install question. I purchased GalCiv2 when it first came out, and registered the serial number through Stardock Central (the license transferred to Impulse of course.) I haven't had a whole lot of time to play since, so I never went and bought the expansions. At PAX I saw the special deal for picking up GalCiv Gold + Twilight of the Arnor, and I jumped on it while I had the cash to blow. I specifically asked the person behind
As for your second question. Yes, it is perfectly legal to install the program on multiple computers as long as it isn't used on both at the same time. Oh, and as of yet I haven't found Beta2 or Beta3 to be all that unstable. -Dewar
And upgrade to service pack 2 if you can. -Dewar
The file is located in the GalCiv main folder. It can be opened with notepad. Please post the first few blurbs that have system specs and such, and then post the last twenty lines of the big block of logging. -Dewar
Universal to all empires -Dewar
Driver Date: 4/2/2004 04:16:00 Your drivers are not updated enough, regardless of what your live update says. Version v1.1 BETA-1 Beta 1 was unstable for quite a few people, try upgrading to the newest beta. -Dewar
There are three small and tiny hulls. Two of them you start with, one of them you get with advanced hull building. -Dewar
1. Not exactly clear what you're saying here, you mean ship styles? 2. Good catch 3. Known issue, fixed in beta 3 4. I've never noticed that, but I'll keep my eye out for it. 5. Since parts get larger as the hull has more space, it sounds like the space a part is taking isn't updated until after you move it. This is a fairly large issue and I hope it gets taken care of. -Dewar
No, the battle is decided mathematically, the visuals are just window dressing. -Dewar
Looks like maybe a memory leak to my untrained eye, but that doesn't help you much. I believe GalCiv2 is only officially supported on Windows XP SP2, so you might try updating that. *shrug* -Dewar
If he's evil he might be using some of the special evil weapons. The military resource starbase can boost your attack and defence values by up to 15% I believe, so that could make quite a difference as well. -Dewar
I don't think it would be a very useful option in the long run, and it could also be exploited for a decent amount of free cash. -Dewar
Are you sure? I play Yor a lot and whenever I switched my government party I didn't lose my loyalty bonus. I only lost it if I went to the special abilities tab (I only had to go to it, I didn't even have to change anything) -Dewar
I try to keep them around as trading partners, but I usually don't put to much effort toward it. The planets they're on are pretty nice and worth taking, but I usually don't bother. -Dewar
The odds of that happening seem to be influenced by a few things. Like Alignment: If you're good fighting evil, other good races are more likely to give to you Common Enemy: Kinda fits in with alignment Middling Military Rating: If you're already powerful, the AI doesn't want to make you worse. If you're really weak, the AI isn't gonna waste its ships (or at least any of its good ones) High Relations: An obvious one, but I tho

Dude, you are such a looser. That was a joke by the way. Not a funny one, but I try. -Dewar
The tech Sensors I gives you the survey module. The wonder you built allows you to put these on a ship for free, but you still have to place them in the ship editor. Oh, and the starting flagship can survey, so you can always just use that. -Dewar
Here's a reasonably simple-step-by step 1 Find the galciv2.exe file in your GalCiv directory. 2 Right click it 3 Select Send too... 4 Select Desktop (Create Shortcut) 5 A new file will appear on your desktop. Right click it 6 Select properties 7 The properties window will open up. There is a line that says Target 8 Put quotation marks around what's there, then after the quotes put cheat. So if it originally
Placing weapons is only for looks. If you're in a hurry you can select a hull, slap the components on any old place, and it will all work the same in combat. -Dewar
Go into the ship builder and there will be several jewlery components marked as special edition. If you can see them, then you're all set. -Dewar
Hot seat would be nice, since you have to take turns to do that anyway and it's already sorta-kinda in the game. As for the rest.... eh... -Dewar
There was a ship compatibility issue between version 1.0 release and version 1.0 x. They assured us that this would no longer be a problem, so your empty hulls should carry over just fine. Still, I'm not sure how the old ship designs are going to work with the new rotation stuff. -Dewar
