Licensing Questions

This really isn't a bug as such, but rather a licensing and install question. I purchased GalCiv2 when it first came out, and registered the serial number through Stardock Central (the license transferred to Impulse of course.) I haven't had a whole lot of time to play since, so I never went and bought the expansions. At PAX I saw the special deal for picking up GalCiv Gold + Twilight of the Arnor, and I jumped on it while I had the cash to blow.

I specifically asked the person behind the counter if I would be able to install the expansions, but give the core GalCiv game away since I already owned it, and he said I could. However, in the box the registration code is for the GC2 Gold edition by itself, there aren't seperate codes for Dark Avatar and GC2.

Is there any way that I can give my extra copy of GalCiv 2 basic away, either by removing the key for my original copy from Impulse, or by somehow splitting up the install of my new GalCiv Gold copy? I'd like to not be stuck with two copies of the core game if at all possible.

Assumably, that comment would mean that you can give someone your old DL disc. However as a general rule we don't support the transfer of serials for the purpose of reselling, so that person would only have the retail release and no patch support.

Sorry to jump in here but i have a similar situation but i dont want to get rid of my licence. i have DL, then i have the Gold edition and then i have TA. All regged to this logon. Could the original DL be split off so then i have another copy of the game with key and 3 more MV chars?

I don't believe the system properly supports multiple serials of one game on the same account. You can try your case for pulling it off to another account with support though, if it's not for resale purposes.

Support@stardock can handle that, I'd wager.

I don't think the extra licenses can exist on the same machine without some real intensive register manipulations though.  I have DL/DA/TA on one machine and a seperate Gold Edition on another.  That works nicely and each profile has the capability of 3 MV characters.  The key is to have a different email address for each license.

What I ended up with is my original serial number for GalCiv2, the gold box serial number for Dark Avatar, and the Twilight of the Arnor serial being used for TA. So I guess maybe someone else could install the gold box and use the serial for regular GalCiv? I dunno, I guess I'll have to contact support.
