$11? I'd say deal if you have no qualms with Steam. I had fun playing through the campaign a couple of times, but I don't MP so no opinion there. I guess we shouldn't have been surprised. Chris Taylor has been making sequels that seem aimed to anger the original's hardcore customers since Total Annihilation. Maybe he likes the abuse he takes over it, like a fetish [e digicons];P[/e]

I'm not sure of the file structure of the Ultimate Edition, but when I installed the DA version of the Hi-Res mod it installed it in a strange spot. I just copied the Mods folder it created back into the Dark Avatar directory and it showed in game then. If your using the TA version you may have to do the same, just put it in the Twilight folder.

Most knew what IW was doing to the PC version of the game before it came out. Buying it just supports them on it. Now the reward for is the described problems and telling IW "Yes, bend me over some more on the next one, I'll buy anything.". The game could be the most fun game you've ever played, but it isn't worth a Superman 64 with the issues described above being the norm.

It's about control. I want to control what I buy, whether I want to be able to archive, reinstall without internet, or play it in a lead sarcophagus. I want to have the ability to play on my terms, not theirs. I don't want to have to worry about getting banned from playing my games cause I irked the wrong person on their forums or some asshat hacked the account and got it banned for me. I do have a sizable Steam catalog, but 90% of it was games on extreme specials. I wouldn't invest even near

Mainly been on Spaceforce: Rogue Universe. Took three tries over the course of a year or more but finally got into it. The game got panned for a lot of problems upon release, but is pretty fun patched once you figure everything out by trial and error(lack of info/tutorials another issue). Also some Civ IV: Beyond The Sword. Talk about V got me playing again, figuring as IV will be the latest for me to play for the foreseeable future. Started Metro 2033 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call

If you want the game badly(or any Steamworks game) and don't want to be a pirate you can always buy the retail box. You get a nice box, Manual , and a shiny coaster. Then simply grab the cracked version of it where you can play singleplayer(and some even MP) without ever installing steam. The Devs/Pub have their sale, you have your game, and no Steam installed. :)

Looks more like they told the respondants to name 100 things in under a minute or something. Hell, Hot water isn't even an invention in my book since it occurs naturally easy enough. More like a discovery. The rest looks more like a list of "What inventions can your limited long term memory produce?" or "What items did you use today?". I'm not saying anything bad about the Brits, as I expect any developed country would produce just as absurd a replies.

I can see if i have a nice garden tub or shower setting that I would spend enough time in relaxing to watch some TV, but the toilet? If I'm spending that much time on the commode, I think a trip to the doc is in the near future.

If your selling that many millions of games and still reporting losses you might want to look at how the business is being handled. Then again, keep up the good work killing your company dumbasses.

I doubt these tablets, at least in their current state are much of a threat to a good ole full OSd desktop. They have instant on because it is only loading a very simple stripped down OS that have very limited usability. They're good for the stuff Frogboy describes, but to be a replacement for a full Win7 desktop(or even laptop) they have a long way to go. Maybe have to wait a few years for realistic cloud computing, then they wouldn't need to be much more than simple terminals.

In several years of playing and modding GC2 I don't remember anyone changing the SBs AOI range. Not saying for sure, but it is likely hardcoded.

I just wish Ubi would get out of the PC games market. Right now all they are doing is trying to destroy it. Most average, non-hardcore gamer types that buy the games won't even realize what they are getting into till it bites them in the ass. Then they'll think "I never had to deal with this shit on my (insert console)" and look skeptically at PC games from now on. I don't think anyone is saying that all forms of DRM aren't acceptable, just over the top garbage that punishes the custo

I play n00bishly. Mainly because I play exclusively SP and enjoy the "creation" aspect of the game as much as the battles. Building bases, teching up, and a slow systematic expansion is fun for me. Of course, if I were to ever MP it I would have to totally change all that :) .

Well, I'm afraid I might not be able to help much. I grabbed it and it installed fine. When I double clicked the .exe UAC popped up and I clicked yes, then the installer did it's thing. Does the same thing as DA version and installs to totalgaming folder instead of Twilight/Mods, but otherwise went normally. Been awhile since using AVG, but maybe it is denying it access to make changes if it still believes it infected(Scanned clean on mine with Avira BTW)or maybe even something UAC related. S

I believe the 2.0 one comes in a .zip file. Is it not extracting the .zip at all, or is it the .exe that isn't working? I need to grab it anyways, but I won't be able to till after work this evening. Then maybe I can see what that version is doing. I'm also on Win7 64 so any problem may repeat itself. I know the DA one installs itself in the wrong location and I had to manually copy the mod to the right directory, but it still had all the dialogue screens for the installer so you could tell w

I just recently grabbed and installed the DA version and though the comments on the site claimed it had viruses I haven't found any and it's working fine. I know both Logic Sequence and the guys that run Imod and have never had a virus issue with anything from/through them. Could be a false positive with AVG, but you could try to PM Stefan at Imod to have him look into your concerns for peace of mind.

I remember hitting a bug, possibly during the DA beta where I had ten in. It caused issues on some of the foreign info/rankings screens. If ranked outside the top ten in anything it would just say something like Data not found error or some such.
Did you play it coop? It was one of the best coop games I've ever played in terms of sheer fun. We wish all the other games had the same level of coop.
Honestly if I had played it on a console(Like i believe Yahtzee did) it had the potential of giving a GTA game a run for it's money, but the afterthought of a PC port was just horrid. I do like to read reviews of really terrible games. They can be entertaining and usually seem to be the times the rev
There is, however, one reviewer who will never overhype a game. His reviews are also quite entertaining. And yes, I am talking about Yahtzee.
I do love his reviews, but more for the entertainment than the actual reviewing. After his, and I quote "marriage proposal to Saints Row 2 disguised as a review" He just couldn't be trusted anymore. On PC it had to be one of the worst games I've played in ten years.

I don't think any of those systems will make a difference if the reviews are tainted by publisher's clout and advertising budget. Personally, I use a monetary system as a rating. How much do I think the game is worth. What I would be willing to pay for it.

I'll have to go with GalCiv2 also. I had picked it up and put it back down on a couple of occasions(instead buying CivIV and SM's Pirates those times). Finally I held on to it when I picked it up and that was the start of 2+ years of playing almost daily. I still keep it at the ready in case the mood strikes.
