Hmm, this place looks familiar. offline for 8 months and I come back to see Impulse with a new owner, no hint of GC3(that I've found yet) and a ton of dust on everything. I'm back to annoy and enlighten(yea right ) though.
Any mod recommendations? There are usually some "must have" mods for games with a vibrant enough modding community. I'm leaning towards grabbing it!
The Stalker Complete 2009 linked by ne_zavarj is a must have for me for SoC. It's like a graphics update and does a lot for a game like this that oozes atmosphere. I also throw in the nature mod spring edition to color up the grass/trees a little more. A lot are personal flavo

As a big fan of the Stalker series I'd like to see where a series can go(if it evens gets going). Seeing as the game is loosely based on a movie that was loosely based on a book and really resemble neither very closely, I wonder what they come up with. Would love to see mainly game-like world, with Tarkovskiy's style from the movie to it.

I'd vote Skype my number 1. I regularly use it to talk to friends up to 8800 miles away with no issues whatsoever. Easy to setup and use, drag and drop more people into conversations easily, show desktop, webcams, whatever. It just works. I just don't recommend trying to send files through it unless they are very small. Use to use Yahoo IM before and while it was ok, any lengthy conversation would seem to always get dropped at some point and you'd have to call back/reestablish.The fil

Here's our local steam salesman again, with an almost unreadable OP. What's with the damn background image screwing up the readability? Why not just go to you beloved steam forums anyways. You do nothing but promote them on their competitors forums while trying to sway people against Impulse. Your lucky the moderation of these forums are so accommodating, most places would of given you the heave-ho long ago for trolling.

No wonder DOTA's community is renowned as the worst of the internet. The man they so revere seems to fit right in with them. I've pretty much given up on Valve anyway. Tired of seeing them work on and release project after project while we still wait for episode three.
Keep in mind some DRM models like the older SecuROM supposedly liked to complain if they detected virtual drives (that's how pirating is done), but I've never had a game complain about mine.
Kinda funny you mentioned that. The reason i have Alcohol is because some versions of SecuROM do not like my physical DVD-ROM so I had to copy the image over and launch them through the virtual drive. [e digicons][/e]

I use an old version of Alcohol 120%. I pretty much just have one virtual drive setup, but i believe it allows for as many as you could want. I haven't any complaints just rightclick the VD in my computer and mount/unmount image.
Stereoscopic 3D Gaming: Do you want it?
Not yet. While it may become the norm eventually when they figure out how to make it truly enhance the gameplay, right now it just seems a little gimmicky not adding enough to justify the cost. While I look forward to seeing what happens with the 3DS and I haven't really been following it all at this point, I keep thinking back to the headache inducing Virtual Boy. I just hope they have tested this thing good and thoroughl

While zerg seems limited with very few viable paths to fight off early game aggression, once you get to mid game they start becoming a beast. The mechanics definitely takes some getting used to though, but they way they work overall can also make them the most fun to play. I really wish instead of making zerg easier to play they would do something to make the other races a little more mechanically intensive to play to bring them on par. Terran does seem like easy street with toss being somewh

This reminded me of a game way back where I had only conquest enabled. The Thalans seemed dominant after coming out of the rush ahead of everyone. When i finally got around to their side of the galaxy to see what they were up to they were on the fast track to a tech victory even with it disabled. I even waited it out till they got the final tech to see if they would start building up more of a military force once realizing they couldn't win with tech, but they just seemed to freeze after that

I just heard about the game about a week ago in a stream chat. I had thought it was a mod for Starcraft 2(it was an SC2 stream). I was pointed to a stream of someone playing it and was immiediately looking at something a 16bit console could do better. I'm not usually a gfx whore, but it was so bad I couldn't even tell what was going on. I see now though part of it was the guys stream quality(and the laggyness didn't help), but even so I never thought it would be something that people were pay

You know what's really funny? Ole Koklick seems to have made EA more liked by starting this whole thing. People who raged on EA bad in the last few years(my self included) are now coming to their defense in order to rage on someone they hate more. While this forum is quite civil, I saw a very informative post about the history of bobby and activision on Team Liquid forums and the amount of responses the mods had to nuke for threats and instigating illegal activity(more threats) was pr

At first i was going to ask what a DCUO is, but then saw MMO and figured it out. Derived Content Used Over(and over and over).. Sorry couldn't help myself [e digicons];P[/e]

He never stops giving gamers ammunition. I guess he's an honest believer in any press, or rather always bad press, is better than no press at all. I guess he saw EA starting to make an effort at decent PR and he just couldn't stand it. I wish he would come to my town and be a grand marshall at a parade. All the grocers would run out of eggs that day I'm sure. [e digicons];P[/e]

It plays on my Win7 64bit. Just had to put the .exe in compatibility mode for XP SP3 or it would crash while loading into a level. Seems to be working ok after that thus far.

I went back and looked through the thread mumble linked. Doesn't seem so long ago, but i was 34 in that one. Now 38 and still occasionally kicking around the GC2 forums. Was hoping by now to be kicking around the GC3 forums [e digicons]:S[/e]

If you haven't yet, you could also check Sword of the Stars. It's another sci-fi 4x TBS. I believe the devs even said they had designed it with MP in mind, streamlining it somewhat for that purpose. It's available on Impulse as well.
Ironically, this $17000 computer isn't actually aimed at people who know anything about computers. It's kind of like selling a $500,000 sports car to some celebrity who knows nothing about cars.
Yep, just so you can quote the price to your friends trying to impress them. If they have any PC knowledge though, you just end up looking like an idiot. And what's with the five year old kiddie crapware being in there. That's seems like an anti-selling point to me. RRO

Nothing is settled when a bought and broken legal system makes a decision. Simply ignore them. If you want to enforce a contract, present it to me before purchase(actually done by some now with DD systems and i except those) otherwise I take it as a clean purchase and will do everything in my power to use, sell, mangle and whatever the hell I want with said product.

Like those damn Zynga scams. Spends most it's time begging for your e-mail addy to spam while dangling the content they're holding back in front of your face till you give it to them.

I've had that for two years. Posts won't show for up to 10-15 minutes after posting. The recent posts list showing the last person to post being so and so, but when you enter the thread their post won't show for a while. This custom forum software has never worked as smoothly as most standard forums, but it has improved over time.
