Welcome about TheQuack!
Kiwi Greg
Hmm that name has very negative connotations for kiwis...
the game dynamic has changed quite a bit with the new patches
Most of the board games I have played in the last 10-15 years have been the German ones. You can find it here: http://kumquat.com/cgi-kumquat/funagain/home At university my all-time favourite game was Dune, if I can get 6 gaming people together I still drag that one out!
Mine doesn't care. And I am happy where I am thanks :)
The only board game I play with any regularity now is "Puerto Rico" and that largely because myself, my wife and our 10 year old can make a viable game out of it
Yeah GalCiv is pretty easy to pick up versus HoI.
If you are at all interested in WWII get HoI. THe mix of unit types, countries, tech tree etc makes for mucho replay value. Germany, Italy and SU were my favourites to play. NZ was boring as too small but Australia is quite powerful in the game
I always took Australia if I could. Been weeks if not months since I have played Risk though.
I played HoI a lot over the last few months. I thought the game was very playable at 1.03 and there were some excellent mods (like N!ghty's). I still think it is an outstanding game with tons of replay value. I bought EU II on the strength of HoI but I got GalCiv at about the same time so I am mostly playing GalCiv
Well I did play one game but I probably shouldnt have opened another bottle of wine after I got home. The computer beat me handily so I went to bed. Are you a HoI player too Space Wombat?
LOL I just lost my first game at 1.04 My bad; 4 very attractive young ladies at work invited me out for dirnks and I am playing after getting home; really at my age I should know better!!
Yeah I like Staffa - s/he takes it all in stride - doesn't get phased at all - very kiwi :)
/cheer Frogboy :)
New patch is out - very quick response on part of Frogboy et al :)
LOL I wouldnt worry about it. I used to see this shit all the time when I played EQ - "if you dont change XYZ that's it I am quitting" blah blah blah. Actually it barely matters to Stardock whether people play the game (or stick with it) as long as they buy a copy in the first place :). I would say for unmoderated boards (at least I think they are unmoderated, let me see shit, fuck, damn, poo; yep :)) these are pretty civil, probably due to the advanced age of the pl
and yes the EA are looking more and more like the EU - talk about art imitating life. Cant wait for them to set up a system of rotating presidencies or for the first Eastern European to try and join :D
Cross posting Staffa's comments on scoring as he seems to know about this sort of thing: [quote]Well, it appears that military conquests scores signifigant points at any difficulty level. As theindividual rankings are based on a quality over quantity, this wont effect the individual rankings to much, butthis will have a pretty big effect on the team rankings. As they are based on just simple addition. Before my score was equal to about 100 begginers, nowit will only be equal to about 5. LOL I watched Bernard and the Genie last night so didn't play at all. Yes I admit to being a slacker.
Space Wombat I am not sure I am at the level to give really sound advice. Here is what I have in my governors queue for all planets(obviously as and when the techs are obtained): Soil Improvement Banking Centre Habitat Improvement Economic Exchange Terrraforming Trade Centres These are all the zero maintenance improvements (grateful to anyone who can point out others that I have missed). I often add Stock Exchange to all planets because al
If it's cramping your style I can let you off the bet :)
WEEEEEEEEEEEE ANZAC = No 2!!!!
LOL Rob posting here as a proxy for Pontius :)
It *should* submit fine, all the previous versions have.
