Actually 4 I think I am going to go back to smaller, harder games rather than just trying to grind out scores....
Kiwi Greg
Its' not too hard to work out - both GROSS and, to a lesser extent, ANZAC ride on the coat tails of one high scoring player - Staffa in their case, Cataleptic in ours. GROSS recruits aggressively, the EU is having some player issues (e.g. at least one player has "defected" from EU to GROSS) which impact on its placement etc. I like the empire and metaverse system, it keeps me playing to finish games (which has always been my weakness - I mean if its obvious you are going to win
hmm I got close to 4 trn and got 2k; shrug it was only on normal so maybe I just suck :)
Haha Alf nope; this is a much..err... more light and fruity forum :)
bah finished a challenging gigantic game - beyond human and 2 trillion pop and only got 1600 or so points :( Probably could have got more but I was tired and jsut wanted it to end :)
And Exarch joining takes you ahead of the GGs. But who is this masked man, fifth who has raced into first place?
I trade with the majors all the time - if you have a tech that the others dont have make sure you trade it to them all because if you dont one of the otehrs will!! Pure evil can work - the soldiering bonuses (if you get one of the high ones) are worth going evil for alone!
Trade - it makes money and friends. Watch your faction (good vs evil). Make sure you hget your share of the galaxy in the initial land grab.
You need to click onto their empire and join up Piety :)
I find it makes for quite a different game on large + maps. Which do you prefer?
I rushbuy trade goods - they seem (to me) to be relatively cheap to buy versus their value. I used to rush buy my first colony ship but I dont any more (well certainly not on the non-small maps) given you can turn them out every 2 turns anyway.
I try and keep "in the black" because you cant rushbuy if you are in debt
GROSS stands for 144, I believe because they aim to have 144 members before they close admission to their empire. and /cheer NW Smith - who doesn't like Queen :)
I am afraid she just doesnt do it for me..... Dont get me wrong, give me a couple of beers and if she begged, sure, but other than that she just doesnt pop my cork. We are off to Baltimore for Memorial weekend (sort of like Anzac day here in the US) so not much play will get done. I have started 3 gigantic games, got to the mid point and lost interest. I will try and stay focused :P
I colonise planets of PQ 14 or above. This is totally unscientific although I *think* my belief in this cutoff was based on a post. I know the AI pretty much ignores the 14 PQ planets so maybe I am wrong here. Does anybody have a scientific view?
Fox 5000 "The Simpsons" Series 34565457 "Glint Thrust: Galactic Cop" "When Aliens go Bad" "Best of Alien Weddings" "Futurama" (reruns)
There was a Viking Empire too for Scandy types
Go to the "top Empires" pageof the Metaverse and click on the ones you like the look of - they will say if they ae "open" (any one can join) or not. ANZAC is open to Aussies and Kiwis, wherever they might currently be planted....
Use your governors to build all the "free maintenance" improvement - soil, habitat, banking etc. Put different governors in charge of your better planets where you will build other improvements. Trade early and often :) I always trade for research with the AI
Back OT - grats Staffa
Also not sure Kylie qualifies as "young" any more (I *think* she is around 30 or so (years and kilos I expect)

I'm off to see that tonight. Who is "she"? Kylie Minogue was a juvenile soap actor who parleyed that and a remake of "locomotion" into something of a pop career (I believe her nickname was something like the "Aussie Budgerigar sp?)" - no doubt one of the Aussies will correct me. Elle Macpherson was (is) a model (nickname "the body") who parleyed that into a minor film career (Sirens) and an enormously profitable lingerie franchise.
Grats Staffa on No 1!!!
Bah she is a scrawny runt - give me a woman with some meat on her bones. Elle Macpherson - now there was (as they say in the US) a biscuit :)
