LOL Yes I am aware of the ability of NZ to join the Australian Commonwealth. New Zealand doesnt have a constitution so ours doesnt say anything about it!! (See we are too poor to afford a constitution!!). God this message board - sucks - there is no organisation to it at all.

My "strategy" for what it is worth is defenders -> battle axe -> battle cruiser -> battleship -> dreadnaught. As I havent seen any way to "sell" ships other than to other civilisations I tend to give them away to whoever is fighting the next leading civ after me as I build sufficient replacement units.

LOL just me in it and I am stuck in a gigantic empire so wont be submitting a score for a wee while yet (but I am winning so it should be worth mucho points). But for any NZers out there empire "Kiwi" is free to join :)

But (to return to what I thought the original question was) Is there any point/benefit in building a star base NEXT to an enemy system - does this increase the influence effect or will building it anywhere in the sector have the same influence effect?
