Also I noticed that even tho some of the minor races have mining stations or starbases it does not show that in the trade screen. So I can't buy them or trade for them. Not everything is available for trade in that screen (based on your friendliness or lack-thereof). How many minor races did you set your game to play with? I have never seen (in all my games) 22 opponents. WOW! Also, was this a Metaverse game? Are you using

hey logic, it rained today in san diego, and by our standards it was 'cold'. i realized that, now with your mod more than ever, my computer is doubling as a space heater. cheers! nik Hehe. Between this and Croc's ships it's apparent I need a lot more power. I never thought anything GC related could bring my system to it's knees. Sure do love this mod though.

jpinard, You are still having problems with my ships? Are you in the metaverse or playing with KSHM turned on? I dropped them in the normal (non-Meta) ships folder. All of them except the carriers I think were OK. I'm not playing with KSHM. I tried resvaing out as a template would compensate for no KSHM... but I guess not?

Canyonland - it is a bit confusing... and I often forget to start my new games with the "Metaverse" button instead of the "New Game" button. Just make sure you've created both your account and a player within that account. If you still have trouble there are plenty of great people here to help you out (especially Kyro and Drengin).

I should have benched my latest game... Large galaxy with 11 opponents (9 major and 2 minor), and later in the game my frame rate took a pretty massive hit. I think part of it is because I do not have a dual-core processor and I max out all the cpu settings - and the extra texture swapping was too much. So I had to remove it temporarily... but it is odd. My VC has 512 Meg of RAM, and I think the game has a TOTAL of only that with all graphics totalled up (which I don't think would ever be ful

Have you tried copying the files to your local harddisk? Either there is something wrong with the cd or with your hardware (memory, cable). If you have broadband you can install it straight from stardock central. That's exactly what I was going to suggest. I've been playing around with shipsets I downloaded from the library recently. With pubmaster's ships several of them are invisible. Also, I didn't realize before-hand the game seems to take a snapshot of your ships so if you manually copy and paste ships into the ship folder mid-game the new ships won't show up. So, my post probably doesn't help... just thought I'd throw that out in case it has any relevance for you.

Wow, some awesome ideas here. I guess it may seem strange to some to care about the names of the ship, but I like to really immerse myself in the game. Basically it's like that for all of my gaming. So far the one thing taking me "out" is the lame names I'd coe up with. And since I love technical jargon the ship classifications above will be perfect.

Right now my ships are quite stupid. Anti-Korx v1 Anti-Korx v2 Super Transport v1 etc. Has anyone come up with a more colorful naming convention for their ships? For example, I spend a lot of time making an offensive juggernaut to counter the Yor who I'm at war with (3rd upgrade)... and then it ends up with the dumb name Anti-Yor v3 .

Oh I get it now. The starship rally point option was blank when I was writing the guide because I had no ships en route to a different existing rally point. SO that one is only useful if you alreayd have a rally point, and have a ship on its way to it. Thanks Kyro!

Wow, all of this sounds excellent. I would so love to see more development in the official Metaverse. Taking the Metaverse map and wrapping it around an animated 3d globe would be pretty cool too (and have a lot more than 10 empires on it). I decided to test something: If you run the following map setup: 1. Galaxy Size: Huge 2. Habitable Planets: Abundant 3. Number of Planets: Rare 4. Number of Stars: Common You end up with nearly all the stars had no planets period. Maybe you all knew this already, but number of planets trumps habitable planets. I thought maybe they ran independant before.
