Impulse won't install? That's odd because Impulse itself is really, really small. Or did you mean the games won't install through Impulse?
I haven't played in a while myself (since my last post) to create a specific set of save-game points, but my first 2 TA games were frustrating. The issue of inflation was that I'd researched many lines except planetary invasion techs. When it became necessary to research planetary invasion, tech inflation had run its course and to research planetary invasion took over a trillion weeks with tech maxed out. :d OK, I exaggerate, but it was a ridiculous number close to or exceeding 100 weeks.
Divinewrath - you pretty much mirrored what I'd been thinking. I was thinking in terms of a random game what races would give he most variety to your play session and the two that stuck out for me was to use on or the other of the follwing: Drengin/Korath Drath/Altarian Terran/Korx
These were just created in-game. My wife made a race (opponent) and it kept triggering the cheat flag. Maybe it was because we tried to give them 200% finances (in the game you can adjust the % slider for finances relative to your own...)
Thanks for this mini-guide. Very helpful! So in a game where you wanted the greatest variabiilty in races/techs... which ones would you choose to play against?
Kryo - Is PM08 due in the next week or something? If this issue was introduced with the last update... seems like it potentially might not be too hard to reverse if it was an simple cost modifier. I haven't been playing enough to know if this is real or not, but based on the pro's listing here it seems like it could be very real...
My wife made a custom race for me to play against and for some strange reason it's putting up the cheat message even though it's a custom race just made in the game. Anyone else seen this? Also - how strict is Metaverse now for custom races? Does it accept negative modifers to abilties? The values don't still get scrambmled when the game is launched do they (they used to do this in DA)? Thanks! :)
Are you supposed to see medals under every name in this forum? Or are you just talking about when you look at your Metaverse profile?
Kryo - Can you check with Cari & Brad and see if this is a candidate for a hotfix and if they still need more saves to isolate the alleged bug?
Yep, I'd like to play against all the major races at once. That'd be pretty fun.
Logic. Do you need antoher beta tester? I'd be happy to help test and I think I've got a computer that could hand;e it all quite healthily. My address is
I would have to add a 6th option... constructor options for starbases. If we could build ships with multiple constructor pieces. That would be fantastic.
Glad you're OK mightgoobi. I hope you'll still comeback sometime and tell me what you think the avergae Chinese individual thinks about my comments. I genuinely think the Chinese are wonderful and kind people.
There are a few major issues with China that bug me. 1. Tiananmen Square. 2. Raping Tibetan land for raw materials and resources almost solely for Chinese profit. 3. How awful they're polluting the Earth and the forced displacement of agrarian sectors (not just for the Three Gorges Dam project). 4. Handling of Taiwan. Chinese domination of Tibet and Taiwan is not unlike Soviet occupation and control of Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, or
I'll do a new game and see (but will take a while). I'm curious... did this just happen after the last update?
1. Fix the tech inflation bug (if it's real) in a hotfix. 2. Have a tech trading game option that does not allow the trading of unique techs. This would allow each race to keep their identity in a tech trading game. 3. Allow LogicSequence's Hi-Res mod to be Metaverse Compatible. 4. Allow us to plop extra music files in the proper directory and the background music will add that as a random music file to play... in addition to the normal files. 5. Ramp M
I can't say for sure the exact amount of inflation - but I'd wondered why in my last game none of the races bothered to research anything beyond medium ships... and it took me forever to research planetary invasion. I'd already researched way up the laser line and the armor line... went back and forth a few times on invasion tech and in the end - sacrificed my whole game just to try and get that tech. I thought it was because I was playing as the Korx and I didn't have my normal research advn
Looking forward to it!
Elias001 - First of all you need to play on Challenging or better yet Tough level. Normal still has the AI oppoenents at a disadvanatge and they will not declare war as quickly as others. I believe Tough is the best level to play at as it offers the least amount of cheatiness but the best competition. Also, what does this statement mean?: One thing i still do not understand, is having tech trading make the game play harder or easier. Are you askin
How do you guys handle economics with tech trading off? I find it very difficult on smaller maps with few habitable planets.
I just played a full game with tech trading off and I got hammered. Tiny galaxy, 8 opponents and 8 Minors. With only a couple of planets I was seriously impeded in ability by the fact I had to dedicate so many structure slots to Economy Buildings. I was playing as a Korx-based race, so when my trade got going I was able to switch some of those econ buildings to others, but when my trade got severed my little empire collapsed. It was evident early on I'd never be competitive with some
Is this still applicable (or needed) for TA?
I'd love to see "limit unique techs" or "no tech brokering" as options. :) I felt, as many of you do, with tech trading on , the races lose their personal touch, but in my last game I also saw there were only a few tech freely traded amoungst the races. It was surprisingly moderate as they didn't cheat amoungst themselves. On the other hand, with tech trading off you have to change your entire early game stategy and build lots of economy buildings, and sad
Just curious which way you all prefer and why? Also, do you like the new ascension win? I won this way way too easily as none of my opponents cared when I took the built asension stations.
