With the recent release of the new Saitek X62 Pro (full MFD LCD display on throttle), it's pretty neat how many external peripherals are getting the "extra" treatment. Battlefield 2142, Rise of Legends, WoW, Sid Meier's Railroads, Falcon 4 AF, all use it too. I love it. Apparently Titan Quest's expansion will use it as well. Miko - see if you have any games in this list: Logitech

Horatio - I'm glad you brought this thread up. I simmed a full game testing my custom race (all on Intelligent), and none of the AI players researched Trade in that game either. I think I'll start my next game, not trade trade to anyone and see if they research it. In my last game I researched it and trded it to everyone early on, so I don't know if they would have researched it or not. I also will play without the Korx as a race.

It'd be kind of cool to have a graph or finances up on the keyboard's LCD screen as you play. I'm curious if this has to be coded from the game or if a modder can somehow do it? Maybe if there were enough of us, it'd be worth looking into for Dark Avatar?

Januhull - I've spent some time with the "From Ship" view and I relaly like it a lot. I wonder if SD can get the camera to stop bobbing in that view. Then it'd be perfect.

manooly. If you don't have much money and need to update a little, you can get a decent video card for just $50.00 (if you're in the U.S.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130197 This card has 256 Meg of RAM, is AGP - which I'm assuming is the slot-type you need. Here's a search I did for you so you can find one that fits your budget. You may need to figure out if your motherboard can support AGP 8x or if you need one that's 4x compatible. htt

On the Governor's tab for Rally Points: I wanted to add this into my guide - but honestly... I have no idea what Starship Rally Point is compared to Colony Rally Point. Can someone explain it to me?

I'm not sure what's going on, but a first step is to re-check the video options tab and make sure none of the boxes are checked that lowers detail. If you're supposed to have higher detail (not sure, but maybe the game autocehcks for video RAM and automatically sets what it can use) then you might want to do a fresh install of both if you haven't. Unistall both, delete the game directory and the directory in your My Games folder, then reboot and re-install. Hopefully someone will have

Can you guys take a look at this? Is this right? Am I missing something, or is it when you're building ships - the numbers don't add up right? I don't want to bother Brad if I don't have to... but I'm wondering if he's commented on this and if it's intentional? note: when shipbuilding is on the expnese column doesn't add up. http://www.jeffpinard.com/bothships.jpg

common habitable planets, occassional planets per star and abundant stars, occassional anomolies https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=143692#1124430 Sweet. Would you pop in this thread and write your experience? I think that's just the kind of setting I was looking for!

It is not a bug. Planets will only grow naturally to a certain point, regardless of the food-based cap present (you can ship people there via transports or colony ships from other worlds and they'll remain, it just won't grow any more on its own). You can read more about this at the population page on the wiki. Thanks Kyro. I missed that, and it is very help

Do you immediately start building infrastructures at planets you have newly colonised? I mean, the planets other than your original starting planet? I find that holding back on developing your new colonies until you are ready to afford it helps a lot. OK... here's a situation I ran into recently. I'm at war with two races and I need to create a buffer zone (I'm in the corner). I take over a few highly developed planets that have extremely exp

The economy is kicking my butt right now, and as I listen to new friends& family members that just purchased the game - it's apparent the economy is the single toughest thing for them to handle in the game. I've read many different economy threads, and it seems I'm not always seeing some of the things other people are. So, please post questions and/or suggestions here so we can get kind of a semi all-inclusive thread on all things ECONOMIC . Here's a couple of ques

Kryo - Is this metaverse compatible (or any part of it)? Since I suck at making ships, I just create my ugly Frankenships and continue on... but sometime soon I hope to try and build someothing that doesn't cause my little Saturnian people to revolt out of embarassment.

Good feedback. Each time people post strategies and such, I'm able to take some of it and make the AI better and better. Often times, it's not so much the AI is bad but rather that a certain % of players are simply better at the game than I am. In multiplayer RTS's different strategies come and go and good players adapt. But whn playing against an AI, it can't adapt to new full game strategies. For example, I

Though I worked on the campaign, I have to tell you the sandbox single player game is much more addictive this time around. You can purchase just the expansion through Stardock https://www.galciv2.com/Purchase.aspx for $29.99 Make a custom race for yourself & make a custom opponent. It gives you an even greater vested interest in how the AI plays against/with you as you see your prodigy compete on it's own.

Please excuse my idiocy, but I'm just starting to read up on the alt metaverse and am not quite sure I understand what direction you're going. I'd like to post this on the MEtaverse section of the guide I wrote... but I should have a clue before I did that - hehe. Is there a quick way to bring me up to speed? Mumble, when you said I've been disappointed in how little progress it appears to most folks that we've been making, but I assure you that the Council has been hard at work

Hey guys and gals You can just use the image files and still geta lot of the beauty of this mod in your Metaverse games. Logic - you did a fantstic - no STUNNING job. Between the new texures for DA and your images my game looks fantastic. I just wish I could use the home-planet images and height maps. Though I did have a thought... the core game could be updated with your new xml, and Stardock could just copy/rename - and use the old textures. Meanwhile for those that download you

Logic - Is there going to be any wierdness if I just use the graphic files (over-write the originals) so I can still use Metaverse? Answered my own question. They look fantastic in-game even while playing a non-mod game.

I think Stardock's aware. I'm sending it to them manually just in case. I'm sure they'll be on it quickly.

Mudmarine, I think a great way to get started is with Sidemancer's shipset. Sidemancer did a fantastic job of explaining things. Also check out Pubmater's ship pack. It's really nice as well. http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=556 I'm hoping with the DA template feature we'll get a lot more cool Metaverse compatible ship templates/designs! And yes... it is rather intimidating when looking for new ships. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/S
