4 vegan races?

The computer has gone crazy. It has led me to meet 4 different Vegan races. All of them are called vegans but they all have different pictures. Really annoying actually. Also I have noticed that when you launch a colony ship with people your population on your planet does not change on the screen and the approval rating doesn't go up like it usually does. What's up with that? Like it needs to be refreshed or something. I have DA btw.

Also I noticed that even tho some of the minor races have mining stations or starbases it does not show that in the trade screen. So I can't buy them or trade for them.

Maybe they all just avoid eating animal products.

... which might not be all that odd, come to think of it. An errant rock whomped our planet 65 megayears ago, allowing the little furry scavengers a chance to get a foothold and evolve into the planet's dominant species.

Maybe that sort of thing is relatively rare. Maybe it's much more common for something lower on the food chain to eventually evolve sentience.

So either the aliens haven't landed and introduced themselves to humanity because (a) they're horrified at our carnivorous ways (killing lower species is one thing, but consuming them?!); or (b) they're afraid that the cows will eat them.

Not everything is available for trade in that screen (based on your friendliness or lack-thereof).

How many minor races did you set your game to play with? I have never seen (in all my games) 22 opponents. WOW!

Also, was this a Metaverse game?

Are you using any mods?

If it does that you can reclick the colony and the population should be displayed correctly. I haven't noticed it for awhile, but I also usually have a huge farm planet for my colony ships and transports.

Much as I enjoy stomping Vegans over and over it'd be nice to see some more randomized names for late game minors.

Doesn't work that way. Once you develop sentience, you become top of the food chain by default. There might be religious or cultural reasons not to eat meat, but your evolutionary path isn't likely to be one of them. Those furry scavengers were at the rock bottom of the food chain when the rock hit, remember?

As for the bug - wow, that's really weird. DA seems to have some problems with duplicate races. Hopefully they'll be fixed soon.

Actually this is not funny at all.
I just played a game were there was two Altarian republic races.
Both having the default color of their borders, both having the default logos, both having the default style of ships etc.

It´s just awful. The only difference between the races were that they were led by different leaders. One by the default female character and the second by the optional male character from GalCiv I.
The two Altarian races started close to each other so that their borders did merge into a mess. They also had colonies inside each others sphere of influence so it become impossible to figure out whitch one was belonged to witch race.

I once started a game playing the Altarians so that I intentionally selected the alternative Altarian leader (As I´m used to him from GalCiv I).
I think the duplication of the races in the game has something to do with it. There seem to be some kind of a bug witch mess the default setting/races up somehow everytime you start a new game with non-default race settings or something.

As funny as that is, and it's exactly what I thought at first but I think they are from the star system Vega. But yah they don't eat meat there either. HAHA. Also I was playing some more and lo and behold but ANOTHER vegan race pops up out of nowhere. LAME.

I can tell you are very, very upset.

Calm down...

Breathe...

In...
Out...

In...
Out.

There now.
Which reminds me, whitch witch is which?

Arilias: "Once you develop sentience, you become top of the food chain by default."

Not necessarily. It just means that you've out-competed your rivals for resources. It's not the case that the only way to out-compete them is to eat them.
