Yep, Commander. It shouldnt be. But it is. I have an idea though.. I played a LONG game and saved it a lot. Back when I started it i had a serial number.. say X. But during the next few weeks, due to reinstallation adn reformatting I changed my serial number (a number of times). Now I have an ew serial number in my game copy (exact same one SDC sent me). But the problem above appears when I try to upload my really LONG Game from some time ago. I think the SaveGame itslef has a s

I agree with the OP, I think the (value inside the parentheses) represents how many ships of that model are currently in active service. But i'm not totally sure since I havent played in a while. Anyway angelwyrm, if ur sure that u only had about 5 ships in ur fleet at that time then what can i say but its probably another hard to reproduce bug. It would be better if you have savefile of that one game and verify.

hey dark, i made a post on this [GalCiv2 Memory Usage]. The game allocates around 500MB of memory at the start then after a few hours of gaming (varies), i've seen memory usage go up to 1.6GB (it may exceed this). You're video card is so-so.. but ifs a problem with that then you should see problems at the START of the game immediately. The problem is with available memory. Your 1GB of RAM will run out after a while with this game. Whats

In the downloads section on the left part of this page or at the stardock home page, download and install stardock central (SDC). Once youve DLed it, input your serial number (from the jewel case of original box). SDC will verify and activate that serial number and will then show that you own GalCiv2 on the left part of the display. From this point on you can download the entire game via SDC. Also dont worry, SDC is not spyware, malware,

nice post xflukex. a lot of people with gaming experience will win consistently against intelligent or higher no matter what frogboy/draginol/brad says. ai's just that. ai. it can easily be subverted outsmarted with practice. galciv2 is being hit because ppls expectations are too high (due to all the raves). but the raves ARE warranted. as far as tbs gaming is concerned, galciv2 has the most challenging/engaging ai SO FAR. it just do

hey trespasser, even though you did exploit the game, if it made the devs fix the scoring system then gudn'ya mate.

that sounds a lot like my vaio SZ. several clarifications: what do u mean by wont run at all? do you see any screen in particular? is there an error message? pls be specific. Also, where and how did you connect the dell monitor? and did you hit the function key for external display? did you set the display settings on your desktop for the

yeah.. 30 hours was my bad. its more of like 2 to THREE hours. sorry. Moosetek13 & Ibnarabi, yeah i probably understand the need for more memory = better performance. My orig question was just that the BOX says the recommended memory is 512 right? that's what stardock recommends to play the game right? 512 of RAM is not "way under par" according to the box right? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif"

hey guys thanks for the info.. but i was wondering why the recommended sys requirements are set to 512MB if the game would need around 1 or 1.6GB to reach normal performance during the game (Huge map, abundant everything.. it's still part of t he game)? Is it just marketing? Advertising that 512 is all you need to play optimally would sell more than saying 1.5GB is needed? So maybe we're missing something to tune or some driver that if

Oh WOW, this game is even easier now. I have quit playing the game untill the release of 1.1. I feel it is just way too easy. what difficulty are you playing on? I never play on anything less than intelligent (tough).. and although I can beat the AI reliably.. i don't think it's ever "so easy" as you

I've noticed that when playing on my new laptop with 512MB of RAM.. that after playing the game for about 2 to 3 hours the game starts to bog down really hard. It runs smoothly for the first 2 hours though.. using ProcessExplorer from SysInternals, i noticed that galciv2 allocates around 400-500MB of virtual mem when loading my huge map saved game.. then the mem allocation gradually just keeps going up and up until my laptop's hardrive

I will say I agree with everyone that SD does a great job with support and especially communication. Not intending to criticize them on that, I simply feel that there should have been more thorough QA done. I appreciate that they are a small company who conducts their business in a very refreshing manner, and as I mentioned right

It's OK if you're disconnected after you logon. you just have to log on once when you create the game. while playing you can then save and reload and exit and shutdown ur pc but still be able to upload your score when you finish. *as long as you're playing using a character in your metaverse acct.*

I have already solved this problem on my end but just want to throw this out there... I recently had to re-install windows on my laptop. Afterwhich I had to re-install galciv2 and StardockCentral. After installing the latest beta with SDC however, a scary popup prevented my from actually playing the game. "Your game has apparently been activated but either the serial number or SID is incorrect". This popup appeared everytime i click on the EXE. I then tried to get my serial

i didnt knw that you could actually break alliances without attacking. I would have to try this at home later. I originally agreed with statesman that you could just attack (right click) on an enemy unit and the war would begin. I think i tried this back when i had the boxed version 1.0.0...

Bugs are a part of any software be it a game or not (any1 wanna start on winme?). And the number of bugs of a particular game relative to any other game is purely subjective unless you happen to know intimately those games you are talking about. Actually, stopping "almost immediately" has voided any validity your post might have had. The bottom line is that this game is very playable and yes, well designed. Attested to by the number of "fanbois" it

I experience this problem ALL the time. What you have to do is, if you selected fleet A by mistake, it's easier to select an immovable item.. say a planet.. then select the fleet/ship u really wanna move. that should solve the problem. still it would be better for stardock to make it easier to de-select ships. or just implement shift
