Actually, i'm pretty sure that carrying over technology from mission to mission would be a simple task. An array of booleans would be held over into the next mission. Then each researched technology would have a boolean, researched(true) or not researched(false). When the new level is initialized the boolean array would be read and the tech values set.
Games like GTA bother me slightly, it just seems to me that it doesn't add to the story. But at the same time I believe God of War is one of the best games of its kind in the last 10 years. In that game you tear limbs off of your enemies and beat them to death with the severed limb. Violence in video games doesn't generally bother me. Violence for violence's sake, just like nudity/sex, in any entertainment media does bother me. GTA and the sex in Underworld: Evolution are exa
I like your random sub-missions idea, it would make the game more interesting. The arrival of the Dread Lords is kinda like that, right? Except you could have missions like: 'colonize this world, it has precursor stuff', 'take this world because it has an experimental whatsit', that would definitely be cool.
What I think Bryce was trying to say in his second sentence was: When you destroy a colony the tiles and bonus tiles change.
I like rough/unpolished better.
1. More Robust UP 2. Revamp the SB system (why can't I repair my Starbases?) 3. More techs 4. And some external tools (map and tech editors). Official ones that I know will work perfectly. Sorry, I know thats more than three. But I felt I had to mention all four.
Don't forget the Zerg! I love watching those guys explode into pile of goo.
When someone is unstable enough to go on a killing spree, they probably had alot of problems before they played the M game. Also, parents shouldn't be bitching that their kids games are violent or M rated or whatever. They're not meant for children, and kids wouldn't get ahold of them if the parents didn't buy them in the first place!
Sounds like SD has some work to do But we have faith!
I'm more of the idea that it should be within character. Like the Yor, it says right in their race description that any alliance or friendship with them should be taken with a grain of salt. The Yor only make alliances of convenience. The Yor, Drengin, Korath, and maybe even the Korx should be total backstabbers, ready to drop you the moment it becomes convenient. But makeing every AI this way... even on the most difficult level would alittle to extreme. This is a game, and games sh
A continue playing feature is also available in WarCraft III, except the AI is disabled at the end. More than once I've been forced into a victory I couldn't avoid, and didn't want. One example is where I wanted to win one more war before I moved for a diplomatic victory. But the three civs that I wasn't friends with were all allied, and I couldn't take them all at once. So I thought of makeing it into a huge 3v3 uber war, but then I realized that would give me a diplo victory. SO I
You see? This is really cool, this site should have a fanfic section for this kinda stuff. Maybe you wouldn't call it a fanfic section though... maybe "Epic Games" or something.
The AI's relations with you get better when you give them things and, i think, when you make a successfull agreement. So I would imagine that repeated attempts at giving them a raw deal might make them abit irritated.
I don't really know where your coming from, because i've never been in a situation where trade was such a huge part of my income. Infact, I usually use trade as a supplement and a diplomacy tool. I rarely devote the resources required to build the starbases that would make Trade a substantial part of my income. But I do get what your saying. In the immediate case, I would suggest one of three things: 1. Figure out which one you get the most from and attack the other one; 2. Flip a co
This thread is NOT about the console wars, its about a PSOne game called Colony Wars. Got it? Now, would everyone please stay on topic. Sorry friend, never even heard of it.
Grammar Nazi's are a pain in the a$$, but some people deserve their wrath. Things like the aforementioned(sp?) 'rouge' and 'rogue', aswell as 'moral' and 'morale' piss me off to no end. I actually have to stop to read it, every time i come across it. How hard is it to take your time? A forum, imho, is here so that you don't have to rush. You don't have to use IM speak so that you can get your point across before three other posts are made and it becomes irrelevant. Sometim
I hate when a civ surrenders to you and all of their ships and bases are gone!! wtf man, wtf.... Oh yeah, being able to steal ships in combat would be awesome, even if the chances were remote. To balance things, (and make sense), the ship should be severely damaged and its level reset.
Oh, and I thought this would be about terror stars, tactical combat or multiplayer for GC2! It was supposed to be about... get ready... CARRIERS!!!! roflmao thats what I thought too! haha, but i'm pleasently suprised. I tried playing C&C Red Alert on a console (N64 or PSOne, can't remember which) and it blew like the
I got the same thing as nullspace. I had something like 200314 Trillion people on one planet, it was nuts. Suddenly planets on the other side of the galaxy were ready to defect!! Next turn, or maybe the one after that, everything went back to normal. But that doesn't help you any, does it? Sorry. - theStormWeaver
It seem there are a few bugs that need to be worked out. I'm assuming your using the DA beta? By the way, that change in the Neutral alignment thing was a really good idea.
I'm to impatient to get all the way to HyperWarp, so my transports never get past 15 parsecs/week. But generally I put two Adv. Troops, one or two of my best life support and fill it up with engines. If theres enough room for another life support at the end but not another engine I'll do that.
Mumblefratz is right on the money, as usual. I'm getting my degree in programming right now and I know how hard it can be to get a program to work. We have this saying "Do not doubt the power of the semi-colon," because a single semi-colon in the wrong place (or the lack of one) can prevent your program from ever even compiling into machine-readable code. On-top of that, testing the code takes a very long time since your trying to factor user stupidity ontop of any reasonable mistakes
Did anyone else notice that both Sauron AND Sarumon(sp?) were servents of Aule before they went the bad guy route? Aule can't hold onto his 'minions!' Perhaps its their role as creators that breeds a sense of pride, and a sense of power over the natural world that corrupts them...
Sorry it took so long. I don't use this computer (the one with GalCiv 2 on it) much, and my homeworks been alittle heavy the last few days. Here is my debug.err file: P.S. My Video Card is good enough for Half-Life 2, and it runs WarCraft III and expansions movies no problem, which are (no offense SD) MUCH more detailed then GalCiv2's. However... the pre-view movie for Episode 2 at the end of HL2 Ep 1 is choppy, but not as bad as GalCiv2. Debug Message: Version v1.31 last
