I'm alittle torn, but I gotta give it to the humans. Their superior firepower outdoes the Iconian's 2:1 HP advantage.

Trade has only helped me stabilize relations if I'm in a middle-area military wise. It keeps the stronger civs off my back and gets me a couple bucks too Its only enough to buy time until I can beef up my military and get in position for war.

Why? You'll 'ooo' and 'ahh' for a about ten planets then get totally bored. THEN you'll demand even greater 'detail and depth.' Just like the Data Drain cinematic in the dotHack games. Its cool for about six drains, then you turn it off for about six weeks. There's no pleasing you people... Haha, jk. I'm not that mean! But I do mean what I said, just not that harshly.

Perhaps you could help ME then? My movies are all really choppy. Whats up with that? By your response Quixen, I take it you've heard of this problem before.

Which games out there have good tactical combat AI? I've never seen one! Nexus: The Jupiter Incident Carriers would be cool, but tactical combat would only be cool for so long. I'd end up pressing the Auto button quite alot. P.S. Carriers don't have weapons, they use all available space for life support (toilets and water pur

Yeah, I thought he was going to complain about getting his butt handed to him by the weak pirates in the game.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but what about defensive tactics? So a defending planet can choose a way to fight back. Examples: Scorched Earth: If you know your going to lose, and you don't want the enemy to get some high level improvements you use this. It would destroy most planetary improvements (80-100%), and damage some tiles (5-20%). Also, prevents enemy from stealing techs during the victory. Mine Fields: Destroys 10-20% of improvements and turns one tile yellow.<b

The Advanced Constructor Module is a great idea. A Starbase Management screen would rock aswell. I think Starbases would become far more worth the effort if they could be repaired. Otherwise its pointless. After three or four attacks even the most powerfull Starbases are severely compromised.

Good ideas. If you do it, I suggest makeing the Military bases not quite so gawdy. Those massize attachments in the final level just look silly. EDIT: Oh yeah, the basic starbase models as Huge ship hulls would be kinda cool. Scaled down ofcourse. Just a thought.

Hmm, I don't have that problem. Well, it does turn green right away, but its not a problem because at the beginning of the turn (right after all the news breaks, battles, and AI initiated discussions) the game auto-selects any ship with remaining moves and brings the camera to it. Once I give it a command it cycles through all the others. It doesn't leave me alone until I click the turn button or all the ships have used there move points.

I use very different tactics. I don't waste my ships (or my money maintaining so many ships) defending my planets. I always research soldiering bonuses to the max and get Tir-Quan training. That way my planets can defend themselves. Any planet beyond lvl 15 gets one of each. Under that and it gets a PD, but thats it. And I don't even do that until I'm increadibly wealthy and my planets are already good as is.

I got mine from Wally world(Wal*Mart). I prefer getting them from a store than online because its tangible proof, and I don't have to wait an eternity to dl it. Like the time I was a beta-tester for WoW. I have cable and it took 24 hours to download it!

But the ships are not related at all. The Daedalus and Prometheus projects were running concurrently, and since the Daedalus ran into some trouble and needed Asgard help in finishing the design as well as donating some technologies, the Prometheus was built first. Your confused. The Deadie wasn't started until AFTER the Prommie. The Prometheus

IRL, anti-missile defense DOES work, just not 100%. Even if you only knock out 2 of the 5 missiles comin at you, its still better than getting hit by all five. Chaff confuses the missile's targeting system, the missile mistakes the Chaff for a really big target. PD actually hit the missile destroying it before it makes impact. We don't have a working pd yet, I don't think so anyway. The only time armor should be pierced is if the weapon is superior. Musket rounds should NEVER pierc

Its unrealistic to believe that a system is devoid of asteroids. Even if it doesn't have an actual asteroid belt, it would still have a few floating around.

My biggest problem is that I am unable to refuse victory. Let me give an example of my latest map. It was late game, I had the largest territory, and far more advanced tech. I was planning to destroy the Drath, since they were the weakest, and as of yet I hadn't really spent much time on actually building my navy. But just before I did I noticed they had allied themselves with the Iconians. Normally thats not so bad, an extra month of ship building and prep would allow me to take

Can you imagine what it would be like late game with twenty races, and 12 frieghters each, with God knows how many other ships, and hundreds of worlds? It would take half an hour for a turn to go by. Unless you had an Uber-processor. I think it would be easier, and just as fun, if some restrictions were taken off the minors. Maybe let them colonize or something. Just make them less aggressive, and maybe give them some stat penalties, to simulate their status as a minor race.

What ticks me off is that you don't get any of the hardware (ships and starbases) when you conquer a civ (or they surrender to you). Oh yeah, no techs. But like shamgar said, you have a good chance of getting a tech when you conquer a world. I don't know if espionage makes a difference, mostly because I've always had advanced espionage on all civs before I go to war with anyone.

Pshaw, thats nothing. First, I didn't get into any wars unless otherwise provoked. Nothing boosts your economy like peace. Second, NEVER research above xeno farms. In fact, don't even research that untill you have fully researched morale. Try to continually research morale and econ. I used my industry planet as the hub of my trade routes (which barely brought in 200bc a week) and placed a fully loaded econ starbase over it. While it doesn't get you much money, haveing

Bite your tounges!!! SG-1 is better than Atlantis. SG-1 did lose something in the last two years, ever since Frasier died I've been alittle pissed. However, SG-1's decline is slowing, I suspect that by the middle of this season it will have re-established the goodness. As for Battlestar Galactica.... It can't compare to SG-1, maybe Atlantis... maybe. I didn't like the Orion blowing up so early. It would have been much better had they just said there was irreperable dam

That thousands of systems thing, yeah... Pretty sure that if you put the number of stars to abundant and have the largest galaxy you can get a max of like 1000 systems, not to shabby. Especially if you consider that each of those systems can have up to five worlds, thats alot of planets.
