Is It Supposed To Work Like This?
Variables reset to default, researching the same technologies over again?

I reinstalled the game again and decided to finally work on the campaign, since the expansion is coming out. I have a couple of questions, though.
I changed the race name, leader name, and homeworld name and assigned the three attribute points. When I got to the end of the first mission of the campaign then tried to move on to the second one, the game crashed on me. It allowed me to continue, but it had reset the names to default and I had to distribute the points again. Is it supposed to do that, or is it a glitch? The names resetting to default and such, I assume the crash is a glitch and not a "feature."
Also, the technologies I had researched in the first mission, most if not all had to be researched again in the second mission. I looked through the manual but couldn't find anything indicating if it was supposed to be like this or not.

Maybe make it that when you re-research the technologies behind X ship you that you chose, you get that one as reinforcements.
