Smalls: stopped using them in 1.2 they just don't have the staying power to make them useful anymore. Mediums: Grunt ship does most of the fighting, light defense with a balance between speed and weapons. Large: Fast Raider mostly engines, LS, as much armour has I can fit and one weapon. I use this to hunt and kill transports, starbases, freighters & constructors while avoiding combat with the AI main units. (used to use a 1 attack cargo hull in this role V1.0) <br/

Speed Kills For me I wish there was engine techs above Hyperwarp III to research even at 50 parsec a turn it takes forever to cross a gigantic galaxy. Once I have Hyperwarp III and depending on what Weapons/Defenses I have my ships speed by class are: Transport Cargo Hull - two advanced troop module 47 - 50 pc Transport Small Hull - one advanced troop module 25 pc (fleet 15 together with a class 5 phaser or better and they will not only reach the target but
Has anyone else noticed that the AI no longer seem to build the Hyperion Shrinker/logistics/supply buildings like they used to. In my last 3 games (V1.2) I've only caputred I logistic building where in 1.1 you could pretty much count on capturing these building from every race... or is that why the AIs are no longer building them.
You cant break an allaince with a Minor race like you can with a Major. About the only way is to get someone to attack them and not go to war with their attacker. But you dont need to break an alliance with a Minor race to go for the Military conquest. In fact I ally with them because the Major races are always declaring war on them which then gives me a excuse to take them out.
Playing on tough Gigantic maps my fastest game was 3 years and my longest 7 with most going five years. Almost always hit the end of one or more weapon techs never used to go past medium but with 1.2 its proving to be nessary as the small class do not have the staying power. Current game is on painful 3rd year and Im up to disruptors and qautaum missles with the Huge ship size.
The Game I should of Lost Gigantic everything on rare got stuck in the corner with Earth & Mars, the closet system with habitable planets was already in the hands of the Altarins. After building a couple of military bases to increase range I managed to get within 1 MP of a class ten when the Korx took it. First break I got was A UP vote for new PQ 15 planet went to the Yor. Unfortunately for the Yor Brindle II was in an until now dead system next me. Threw every
I've always found shooting them very effective.
Dude no matter how many Impulse engines you stick on and cargo hull its still slow. I always research all the engine techs and jamm as many Hyperwarp III engines on my hulls as I can and research miniaturization techs so I can stick even more on. Playing Gigantic like I do my slow ships are doing 20 parsec and transport are doing 50 parsecs, mediums and large are doing 30. Being limited to 1 or two engines would take months instead of a week or two on gigantic maps.
On tough the AIs do seem to spend a great deal of time just researching weapons to their own detriment. I just make sure I research the approbate defense tech for the weapons they research.
In my current game the Arceans seem to have gotten all the good stuff. So far I've taken a planet with not only the 700% research but also had 2 300% and a 100% tiles on it too. The next planet had 700% manufacturing and 3 300% tiles. They also have all the high PQ planets too, so far captured a 32, 30 and a couple of mid twenties. I'm sure you can figure out why I declared war on them
I once got 67 percursor corvettes in a game. Turned up just as the dregin attacked they hit those corvettes like a bug on a windsheild was a major game saver.
43 trying to stare down 44. Glad to see so many 40 plus here. I also play for an FPS Clan (COD 2) where Im the oldest.
I havnt seen one of these threads here so let see what everyone running for a PC Mine is a frankenstien pc with parts from 4 different PC going back to P 150. GF 4 Ti 4400 was a great card 5 years ago (i know I had one), seriously though I would suggest you upgrade to at least the FX series which are pretty cheap if you can still find one.
What is X-Fire? Check the link its a real useful program for gammers. Link
For me it was Empire I was starting to wonder if anyone else had played this, I still have it on a 3.5 720 k disk.
Cake walk = moron for AI move up to at least normal or challenging.
I had this happen to me in v1.11 just recently see this post, oh I would hardly call this game breaking. Send your saved gaves to [email protected] with a link to this thread Link
I had this once when I saved a new ship design over and old one.
I would love to be on the losing end of a gang pile on just once. Be grateful for a quality challenge instead of whining. My first game on tough I had 4 AI attack me within 3 turns any one or even two I could of handle with no problems but having four come at from all direction was just overwhelming and even though taking down 6-7 ships
There is an excellent tutorial video within the game... Yes and after reviewing it for the thrid time I finally got it After so many games on Gigantic I wish I took the time to figure it a lot earlier
Do you have any autosaves or saved games before this happened? I've seen the posts about this bug and have tried many times to get it to reproduce, but cannot. There must've been something which either took a huge amount away from you or gave you such a huge amount that your money went negative ( like an odometer rolling over back to zero ) Can you think of a
Has nothing to do with my situation

OK I've seen this posted before but have not heard if its been fixed. I'm near the end of the game and want to get the black hole eruptor before its over so I shut down military and social and go 100% research. Soon as I do this I end up -2147744739... even though I still have have an income of 1500 BC a turn. I believe this actually had a negative effect on my overall score when I submitted it for the metaverse
