Actually, I agree that adding a bit more depth to the combat aspect would have been great. That said, the game does deliver a whole lot of strategy the right way so as to make things that are missing insignificant (I bought the game so obviously I think it's worth the money). Yeh, it would have been great to have tactical battles with carriers, escorts and fighters duking it out, but balancing it and making it work would have been a signif

So, I beat the AI on "Challenging" and moved on to "Tough". A few interesting things I noticed: 1. AI tends to build small/tiny ship sizes rather than corvette or above. I am not sure if it makes sense maintenance-wise, but AI sure kicked my but in this area. I was building three ship groups with large hulls and it took me a wile to build. When in combat one or two groups of 4-5 smaller ships destroyed all of mine. I am pretty sure that it takes a lot less resources and time to build
thanks, i'll try!
I would like to suggest the following addition: automaticaly upgrade of core design on constuctors, colony ships and freighters with the latest engines available. This new feature can be turned on/off in the game options for folks who would rather design their own util. ships. The reason I would like to suggest this is that later on in the game I find it a bit annoying having to upgrade engines to make my ships move faster. I end up having 5-6 "user" designs with engin
One of the fun things I used to do in CIV4 (used to do because I am addicted to this game now. Thanks Stardock;)) was try to take over cities with culture. So, knowing I could do the same here I tied my old trick. Here is the setup: I played as Humans on "normal" and on a second or third turn Mars was colonized by the AI. I was a bit upset over that and started a program of building a cultural star base right next to Mars. i researched deeply in to diplomacy (3-4 techs
First off, I love this game. Yesterday I played on "normal" and beat the game. One of the things that impressed me most about the AI is that when I massed my ships against two planets for a final attack, the AI contacted me and TEASED me about how stupid I am and like this would never have happened on "inteligent" setting. This message made my game. That said I am having a few problems with some of the game features: 1. Even after I controlled more than 3/4 of the galaxy, my "win
I like designing ships, that said it would have been great to be able to edit existing designs. Case in point: I want my constructor or colony ship to be upgraded with faster engine. I don't want to design a whole new ship just to do that. All I want is to click edit, remove old drive, add new drive, DONE. Intead I have to creat a brand new design (which for some reason never looks quite as good as the original than I have to nam
I downloaded the game yesterday without any problems and played it for a few hours. One of the things that made it difficult for me to play was not always seeing the "big picture" technology wise. The tech tree is a lot bigger then in CIV4 and it does not allow for easy scrolling through the entire path. Viewing the future techs is a bit difficult since you can't maximize the tree and see it only in the window with is 1/3 of the screen. That being the case, can you please post a soft
What I mean is that in CIV4 any technology has a minimum number of turns (3) before it can be discovered. So in a situation where you have 100% allocated to research, it will still take you 3 turns to get the tech. What I end up doing most of the time is adjusting my research spend rate down from 100% so that even if I have 60% allocated to tech it will still take me 3 turns. This way I am earning more money in my treasury and not waiting it. (which is sucks as I have to do this for every techno
I've completed reading the PDF manual and had a few questions: 1. If you and AI are both building the same mega project and the AI is first to finish it, do you get compensated with cash (a la Civ 4?) 2. In CIV 4, when negotiating with AI, the player has an option to ask "what it would take" for the AI to accept an offer on the table. This greatly reduces the amount of guesswork required to complete a deal. Is there something similar in GalCiv2? 3. When research
I preordered the game for download, then recived an email with my order ID. So I downlodaed stardock software and when I launched I saw nothing in the "Purchased" section. I tried adding my purchase using Stardock and the order number I was sent and got an error. Am I using the incorrect ID or something? Will I get a real number in an email. Please help as I am a bit confused (first time buying a soft copy) Thanks!!!!
I've been waiting for this for a year now. I've pre-ordered the elecotrinc version because I don't want to wait until the 24th or so when it will be available in stores in US. Common, please make the electronic version available sooner Don't make me beg here <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/gc2/smiles/Smile.
