Thanks for all the responses old timers... First of all... All I can say to those of you with gamer wives. You @#&%#@ lucky b*stards. Evil Stormbringer: We all want to spend time with our wives..but you got to admit that Altarian female is hot Bakka and tlwhite: Congratulations on your

A while back, SD conducted a "how old are you" poll. I noticed that there were very few of us who selected over 35. (I’m 40 BTW) So, for the five of you who are over 35, I was wondering how often you can play GC2, and under what circumstances. What do your wives think of your time on the computer playing games? Do you prefer TBS or RTS games? What was your favorite of the original quarter munchers? Anything else? If I’m lucky, I get about an hour a day in. Usually it’s later in

I'm playing as the Yor, and I've noticed that some of my planets have zero population growth. My approval on those planets is at least 60% or higher. I haven't reached the population caps yet It seems to be effecting planets with a low PQ rating and/or those planets I've invaded. On some of them, I just sat there and clicked turn 5 times in a row without seeing any growth. Any ideas? Thanks, B.

Well, I would know what to tell you, since my good crusaders dont ally with evil races. XD But Im curious, if you and the Korath are #2+3, whos ranked 1? The Korx

I've been playing as the Yor and I'm ranked third in military strength. I've gotten the Korath relations up to "warm", but they just won't get close. I have lots of trade with them. I've never acted agressively toward them. I've researched ethics and chose evil. I periodically give the gifts. Nothing I do works. I suspect it's because they are ranked as number 2 in military strength. I understand that there is little value in having an alliance with a weak civ, but

With the first level of extreme colonization you can set the colony but you have significant production penalties. Hydro Thanks Hydro, but I have no production whatsoever. Even with two factories built, production still shows as zero.

I just started a game as the Yor and I found a barren world and colonized it. However, none of the tiles appear to be useable. I understand that until I research the next barren world tech, I wouldn't be able to fully utilize the planet...but I can't use any of them. The planet has a number of green tiles (outline green with some green within the tile itself) and I built a factory on one of those tiles. After the factory was completed, I expected to see some units of production

The reason why the AI can't trade with other AI's the same way it trades with the human player is because the AI doesn't know how to offer trades the way a human player does. The human player trades like that all the time, and the AI "defends" against it by offering the worst deal possible to the human based on a "table of values." I don't know how the trades between the AI's work. I wonder whether one AI "asks" another for a tech it wants or what. </di

Or turn off tech trading. That will level the playing field and give you a different game. Hydro IMO turning off tech trading is an extreme solution to the problem. I like tech trading, but I just want a level playing field.

Thank for your input everyone, First of all, I don't understand why it's so difficult to code the AI to trade with other AI's like it would the human player. 9In terms of cost)..based on relations, military power, etc. But that aside, they should at least make the AI's "pay through the nose" for the colonizatiuon techs just like a human player would have to. That would force the AI to make a decision between colonization and other tech lines..just like a human player.

Hi! Three AIs start with some extreme techs: Yor with barren, Korath with toxic, and Iconians with toxic and aqatic. And Altarians go for those extreme environmental techs almost before anything else. In my tiny suicidal game they colonized a radioactive planet at turn 9. BR, Iztok This is not good... If the AI's can colonize both an extreme environment AND an earth-like planet, then that's a double advantage against the human player.<

I know that the AI civs freely trade techs amonst themselves to give the AI civs an edge against the human player, but I have an issue with the AI trading colonization techs. I've played two games of DA so far, and in both the AI's had the colonization techs long before I could research or trade for them with another civ. As a result, the AI civs were colonizing all of the available planets while I was still trying to get my hands on the techs. This makes the "best new feature"

How do you increase the levels of a mining station? While my survey vessle was passing by another civ, I noticed that its mining statioons were around level 10. I contacted the civ hoping to trade a higher mining tech with them, but all they had was the basic mining tech. So how do the levels increase? Over time? Through experience? If so, how does a mining station gain experience? Thanks, B.

I'd like to be able to send a spy to an enemy for a specific one time job such as stealing a tech, gathering info, destroying a factory, causing a revolt, etc. The spy would either succeed or fail based on it's experience, my tech level, etc. I don't care for the current method of place and wait.

I purchased DA online with the CD being sent via mail. Tried to download via stardock central, but I keep on getting "serial number invalid" message. I double and triple checked the the number. I entered it correctly.... I even confirmed the seial number via email comfirmation from stardock. They sent me a different number (automated response message). I tried that one. It didn't work. Yes, I checked the settings in "edit stardock account" If you guys insi

My system is very straight-forward SM LZ 3-1 This means a ship with a small hull, that has lazer weapons with an attack of 3 and a defense of 1.

Well I guess I over reacted. But my first thought was, if they're flying the banner for Vista, they must be thinking about creating upgrades/updates in the near future that would require x10...

I just read the post on the virtues of Vista. directx 10 was mentioned. Does this mean that DA will requires X10? I just purchased a directx 9 compatible graphics card. Did I waste my money?

SithUK, The game mechanics do not seem to work the same way for me. I play on challenging with a medium map. No matter how many trade routes I have, if I'm on the bottom of the military strength list, I get attacked.
