When you say third or fourth missile defense, what tech specifically do you mean? Additionally, could you right click and verify that the cost has indeed increased by 50%? Do you have any research treaties with minors or majors? One other thing to check that may be obvious (as it would have other, more far-reaching side effects) is to ensure that you have not somehow been hit by the plague, as th

It's happening again.... I'm playing as the Korath. I view my research options. Enhanced miniturization will take 14 turns, so I decide to focus on missle defenses. I research up to the third or fouth missle defense, and then decide to do enhanced miniturization. Somehow, it jumped from 14 to 21 turns. I didn't change my research rate. i didn't change any priority settings on the planets. Anyone else experience this?
Tech score helps with invasions (albeit only slightly), and some techs that may be "obsolete" might have innate bonuses (warp drive, for instance). How smart would you want this algorithm to BE? .
I guess I don't understand your point. If my ships already have warp drive 2 installed, why would I want warp drive 1? Makes no sense for a spy to steal it.
A couple of quick thoughts I think there should be a way to nulify a passive spy, or a least protect against them (e.g.the hunter-seeker algorithym in SMAC) Tech stealing. I understand it's random, but there is no sense in a spy stealing laser I if you already have laser II (for example). There should be a built in check that prevents a spy from stealing an "obsolete" tech. My two cents
BoogieBac, Thanks!. I'll give that a try tonight. Zubaz, Thanks for your feedback! I have a video card that I installed some time ago. I don't know if it shares memory, but I assume it doesn't because it's not "integreted" video memory. I also have 1Gig of virtual memory. I'm don't know much about computer memory, but I would think with the combo of RAM, a video card and virtual memory, the install program should be able to figure out that it could "squeeze" th
I tried to load the demo and got an error message during the load process "program requires 512MB of physical memory" I HAVE 512MB of physical memory. Any ideas? Thanks, B.
Thanks guys! B.
Hi, I was browsing Impulse and came accross Imperium Romanium. It looked interesting so I pulled up reviews from various sites. The problem is that the reviews were mixed, ranging from 3.5 to 8. That's a pretty wide range.... So, I was wondering if anyone has played it, and what they think? Thanks! B.
Ok, one last REALLY long stretch. Did perhaps an opponent's freighter pass through the parsec where your ship was in and perhaps the AI accidentally got sent to attack you?

I think the same can happen if you happen to park ships on one of their waypoints before they get to it, as well.
Since I was so close to their border, I think the "waypoint" suggestion was probably it. I've been playing GC2 in all of it incarnations since the beginning
And those ships weren't just bought or acquired via a surrender?
No.
No. I had some ships sittig near their border and they attacked my ships out of the blue. The other civ I attacked was far away from any Thalian ships/territory. I didn't capture the planet I attacked, so I don't think it's the transport issue.
The title says it all. I'm playing the humans on normal difficulty. I made an alliance with the Thalians and then a few turns later I proceeded to attack another civ. After the Thalian attack, I check the diplo screen. They are still listed as allies. Is this a known issue?
I did some digging, and found an "old" game (in a box) for $10. It used to retail for $40 With digital distribution, there is no incentive for the seller to cut prices to clear slow moving inventory. ...because his inventory cost are essentially zero. (save for maintaining the server). Just a random thought.....
Thanks Guys, elias001: I've always wanted to play Dungeon keeper. I think I'll give that a try. SanChonino: I know econ games are a tiny niche market. ...kind of like political sims. Now if i could just program my own...
What's your favorite economic/tycoon game. Capitalism 2 would have been a great game if it hadn't been so buggy. How about The Corporate machine? Are roller coaster tycoon/zoo tycoon/railroad tycoon any good? That is, do the have a deep well thought out economic system? Any other economic games you'd recommend? Thanks, B.
I think the Corporate machine sounds like a great game (although very old...2001 I believe) How do you like the game? Is it similar to capitalism 2, or does it have a completely different approach?
OK. I went back to Impulse and registered TA (even though I already registered TA via SDC) Now TA is showing up in "my games" Thank for your help everyone. B.
Does it show on the registrations page in Impulse (the little window icon in the top right)?
I looked. It's not there. The only ones listed are Altarian Prohecy, GalCiv, and galciv2. (There is no seperate listing for DA, TA, etc) AP has "none" under the expiration date. GC and GC2 have "invalid" listed under the expiration date. AP has my email listed, GC and GC2 do not. I had 2 or three accounts under SDC. (I moved and changed emai
Please put 1.95 on SDC.1.95 isn't out yet at all.
Ok, I thought I saw that it was. Thanks. The bigger question is: I purchased TA. Why isn't it listed in "my games' in Impulse? (It is listed as a purchased game on SDC)
Well, I installed Impulse and was looking to download TA 1.95.... However, TA isn't listed in "My games". I purchased TA. Go ahead, check. Why isn't it there? I had a number of issues with SDC for years. Just about a month ago the issues were resolved. Now it looks like I'm going to have to deal with Impulse issues... Please put 1.95 on SDC. B.
You can get karma in an instant by catching a chameleon :)
I'm not going to get bent out of shape over $5 or so, nor do I care that much about a box, but I paid through Paypal, and I could have sworn that $10 was automatically added to my order for shipping... (I was not given a choice between box for $10 or a CD for $5-$7)(I live in the USA)
There's not much that can be done until you can research the techs needed to build ships that are strong enough to defeat them. Alternatively, if you have a saved game prior to their arrival, you can start over again.
Well see, the problem, is that you're not playing as the Yor.. :)
The last one has been up for a while... I think we know that humans are favored. I can't imagine why... :) So what do you say SD?
