Well, not sure about the dialog with the slug people. That sounds like it needs some tweaking. But I'm pretty sure the reason why you declared war on them - even though you said no to assisting the Alterians - is because of the Alterian's racial bonus. Their bonus is that if attacked, races with like alignments (i.e., Good like yourself) will come to the Alterians' aid if attacked. This has happened to me also.

1. Linux/Mac support because more people will probably switch OS after the coming Vista fiasco. I'm looking into learning how to use Linux myself. 2. Definitely a more aggressive AI playing to win, just like me. 3. Last but not least: vastly improved diplomacy! I'd like to be able to cajole, threaten, or coordinate with other AIs.

Yes, this is an existing issue, though I was only aware of the power plants. I've already sent in a bug report. But more emails definitely won't hurt in getting the devs' attention.

Changer, in case you are not aware, there have been many revisions and updates. We are now up to version 1.4.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I believe it's a carry over from Dread Lords in that, as you met more races, the espionage spending went up. However, in DA it seems more to do with your growing economy. The more you grow, the more BC is diverted to espionage. The slider just sets a percentage and that's why it continues to grow, I think.

I concur. There should be a gradual, but fairly quickly, population decline - but from the the turn after the spy is added to the farm. This gives to the idea that the spy is tainting the food supply or energy source (for machines) as well as general sabotage until it drops down to whatever the planet will support without a farm(s). Question is, how quickly should this happen?

I think the following is a cheese tactic and want to bring it to the devs' attention if it wasn't already. Basically, I've been using my spies on the farms of planets I'm invading the next turn. In essence, in a single turn/"week" I'm able to bring planets with a population of 12 or so billion down to 6 billion. I can easily conquer these worlds with a transport with 3 advanced troop modules or less. Easily! Not sure how my fellow gamers feel about this. I personally love it, though I thin

They don't always negate the spies right away, especially if the AI is being ganged up on. I usually put spies on their farms on the turn before I invade. 12-18 billion worlds drop down to 6 by the next turn and wham, easy invasion. So easy I think it's a cheese tactic.

My settings are Gigantic with only military victory and no surrenders allowed, everything set to common in loose clusters. Tech rate: normal; minor races: 3; opponents: 9 and random; tech trading allowed. Auto saves set for every 6 turns. AI set to suicidal. Let it rip, cyberj, and let me know what you find out. I would hate to think it is my drivers. My vid drivers are fairly up to date, but I can't update my sound card beyond what's available from the manufacturer and that's already a co

Well, with the new DA Beta2B, I'm not having crashes from autosaves anymore. However, I still get CTDs after a certain point. Do a quicksave, and a turn or two later it crashes when I hit the TURN button. Load the game, and it happens again at the same exact point. I then have to go to one of the autosaves and load from there....only to have it happen again maybe 10 turns in. It's getting to be quite frustrating playing on Gigantic. Not sure if this happens on smaller maps, but something i

Okay, it's official. It took 7.5 minutes to load a mid-point DA beta2B game when first loading the game. Two minutes to load a saved game once in the middle of a game. Anyone want to contribute to the Help-Jon-Get-a-New-Notebook fund? Donations accepted via paypal.

I haven't noticed that yet. What difficulty were you playing at? There was a bug in DL a while back where certain AI's intelligence were way below the average set. I've noticed some of those old bugs have crept back in to DA, maybe that could be it. I have noticed in the logs that one of my minor races keeps encountering an error: they can't build any more ships (freighter) because they've run out of room in their starport. Apparently, they are not recognizing they need to remove so

I like the idea of combat modules. However, in my own gameplay, I never fortify my starbases, relying on my fleets to protect my assets.

so far in this version, the drath are manipulating the torians into declaring war on pretty much everyone. You'd think on Suicidal level, the torians would realize that declaring war on the world is insane. Curious to see how quickly they'll get wiped out.

Happens to me too. They had this problem with one build of DL, but Cari fixed that problem relatively quickly. Looks like it's back. I've sent in my error log, not sure if it will help without a saved game. I've got 512 MB of RAM and additional 768 paged.

That's a good point. After all, pirates are in it to make money from easy marks/targets, not destroy. I'm all for them wanting to destroy resource bases for their OWN TAKING, but what would be the point unless they are a minor race with planets of their own. Nonetheless, in their current incarnation I think their relative power needs to be scaled so that players have a fighting chance.

Crap, hit post and can't edit. I'd pay more for better diplomacy!!! I would like more diplo functions and options. The ability to threaten, cajole, warn, and most importantly, coordinate with other AIs.
