I want to make a suggestion to this new espionage system. I'd like to see the necessity to continue spying on races if you want to see updated information/updated tech researched or even for tech stealing. The reason is in the beginning we may not be able to counter all the spies (especially playing suicidal as cash is tight in the beginning) and I would hate to see that specific races know everything about me from early/mid-game on before I have a chance to start countering.

Will the Planetary Governor allow for setting parameters? For example, to move farms ahead in the queue if population reaches 5 billion (when max allowed is 6), etc? Otherwise, we will still have to keep an eye and manually adjust the building queues of each planet. Also, let's say we do have to manually adjust the queues. Will this then remove the planet from the Planetary Governor's control, or will it be intelligent enough to realize that an improvement on the lis

The reason you're taking a hit economically on newly conquered planets is the maintenance costs of existing buildings are more than the revenue generated from the remaining population. As the population grows this improves. In my gameplay, I begin to convert existing buildings to suit my needs: usually X number of factories, labs, farms, morale buildings, and economic bldgs. As for the question of what happened to the population of the conquered planet, fit your imagination to however

Moose, you can leave the UP. If you choose to, their resolutions should no longer be binding and you *should* be able to build your terror stars again. The drawback is you can no longer trade with the other races, but that is a fair trade-off since trade has been nerfed. Give it a shot and let us know if it works.
+ FIXED: We believe that we have fixed the crash when placing a spy but it's hard to reproduce so it may just not have come up during testing.
I'm glad this has been addressed. Can't tell you the number of times I had to restart due to this crash.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug. If your cash reserves reach $20,000 BC or higher, you take a hit to income. Check and see how much cash you have. If this is the case, just rither give some of it away, or start purchasing ships or improvements flat out to reduce your cash reserves to under $20K. Then your income will kick right back up. -Jonathan

Is there any way to edit the bonus tiles in a saved game? For example, change a 300% manufacturing bonus tile to a precursor mine? I thought the new editing tools included with Arnor would allow me but I don't see how. Thanks. -jonathan

I name mine after birds (except for freighters), followed by mk Roman numeral to designate which design/version. For example, medium hull ships are designated Eagle MkIV, as an Eagle class, version 4. My medium hull ships are dual role planetary defenders and interceptors. The bulk of my attack ships, especially later in the game, are the huge Condor class. Invaders are of the Raven class. Constructors and miners are of the Pigeon and Woodpecker classes, resp

I also think - if there is an overhaul - that the AI should not value highly techs that allow for trade goods if they have already been built by you or another AI (or even close to completion, if an AI can determine so).

What's with these morons who bitch and moan about SDC being DRM?? Listen, people, SDC is nothing more than a method to register your game and hence download updates. DRM is a software/method, either installed or through hardware configurations, that attempts to limit piracy by checking the "legality" of your system. SDC and stardock don't do that. All SDC does is allow you to register, and then download patches. It can do more, but that is all you can use it for. It doesn't run in the back

Only problem with wide screen monitors are that they offer less viewable area compared to their 4:3 brethren. Go and compare 19" wide screens with 19" 4:3 monitors and you'll see what I mean. I guess if you game and watch a lot of media, that's fine. But if you work with a lot of docs, you'll find yourself scrolling a lot more. That's the only con, pretty much, with wide screens. Edit: oh yeah, you might want to hold off on Vista unless you're buying a new PC. And if you're gettin

My gripe is only when you have someone post a about something (like this) and then, less than a week later, having users start to impatiently say "I can't believe Stardock hasn't fixed this!" As if, by magic, a post on a forum trsnaltes into an update a week later. An issue like this can't just be tweaked. There's debate on how best to handle it. Brad, If you're referring to the defense bug, it was brought up here in the forums immediately

I'm also disappointed. What's going on with the off-type defense bug? Is that being addressed? Does SD even see it as a bug or not? I haven't seen anyone officially acknowledge and address this. Please let us know what's going on. Thanks.

For some reason, I've been using avian names for my ships, except for freighters, with "Mk Roman Numeral" for versions: Pigeon class - constructors Dove class - colony ships Woodpecker class - space miners Ostrich class - troop transports Owl class - medium hull scout/survey/AWAC/sniper multi-class Falcon class - small hull defenders (early game, if at all) Eagle class - medium hull planetary defenders and intercept, the mainstay of my fleet Raven class - lar

In the flipside, inciting wars seems to be much easier. I'm playing a suicidal game right now with 1.5X and I too was having difficulty adapting because of the new tech trading scheme. I found now the key to survival in suicidal is to have high diplo skills and turn everyone against one another. I'm still decades behind everyone in technology, but now starting to catch up as I'm invading Yor planets. I've managed to get three different races to attack the Yor on my behalf, and now I'm just s

Cari says it is. the cries of elation that moments ago lept from my office and through the halls have, i think, permanently convinced my coworkers that i am indeed bonkers. I've been waiting for this fix also. In fact, I stopped playing until this has been fixed. Can't wait to start up again!

That patch makes the AI more aggressive. I think it made a difference, but it has been so long since I've played that game. I did love it when it first came out...introduced me to the whole space 4x genre.

Since you guys are on the subject, I have to ask. Have any of you guys noticed that sometimes, some tiles disappear after culture fliping or invading a planet? I've also noticed this. I once invaded a planet for a 700% bonus tile only to see it disappear once I took over. Imagine my frustration. I thought maybe I was mistaken. Guess not!

I agree, but keep in mind this is still in beta. You've submitted an email to GC, so let's hope this will be addressed by release or shortly after.
